Leaders like Jeremy Corbyn of the British Labour Party and Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican candidate for president, need to be clear to their supporters about what’s acceptable.
A necessary “Pox on all your houses” piece from Dan Friedman of the Forward.
There’s anti-semitism on the left. There’s anti-semitism on the right. It needs to be confronted. Stop building alliances with anti-semites. Critically consider your own allies vis-a-vis anti-semitism. Stop ignoring its measurable rise in Europe and the Middle East. Stop ignoring its prevalence in the United States. Stop assuming bad faith when we call you out. Stop tokenizing small groups of Jews you know nothing about in order to prove you aren’t an anti-semite. Stop saying “I have a Jewish friend.” Start learning and listening. I am so sick of this.
