what I thought philosophy at university would be like:
what philosophy at university is really like:
“If the meaning of cow is to be ascertained through the negation of non-cow, circularity is inevitable. ‘Cow’ is to be ascertained through the negation of non-cow, but negation of non-cow is possible only through ascertainment of what cow is.”
if I make a meme about theseus’ ship but don't like it and eventually replace all the component parts have I got a new meme or am I just making a really obvious joke?

Hello! A little while ago I saw you liked Marx's philosophy so I decided to drop by to inform you of something, in case you might be interested. I don't know where you're from so not sure when it's coming to you but this year, there's a film about him called "Le jeune Karl Marx" ("The Young Karl Marx" is the English title) directed by Raoul Peck which takes place in 1844 and it's all about him as a young man, meeting Friedrich Engels, etc. I thought you'd be interested. :) Have a nice week! :)
That sounds interesting, I do like a good personal history. I’m from the UK and the film doesn’t seem to have been released here yet, but I’m sure I could watch it somehow.
Thanks for the recommendation!

descartes: okay i am sick of this, lets take it back to basics and only deal with what we can say for absolutely 100% no doubt certainty.
also descartes: this is the exact bit of the brain where the soul interacts with the body and I know this because god says so.
What do you think about Eastern Philosophy? and also: what are your favourite philosophers? (the ones that teach and grow you into philosophy)
I have to confess that I’ve barely read any Eastern Philosophy, the only text I’ve read cover to cover is the Bhagavad Gita and I enjoyed reading it immensely. It’s written in beautiful prose and the ideas that it communicates I find to be very interesting and thought provoking. I’d recommend it to anyone.
In terms of my favourite Philosophers I don’t really have that many. I haven’t studied enough to be able to pick out a few key people. However, I will say that Plato is the philosopher which helped me really understand what philosophy is all about.
The way he writes is relatively straight forward and easy to follow, his arguments are well constructed, and his ideas are fascinating. I’d recommend him to anyone who is looking to begin studying philosophy.
Thanks for the question. :)
