Here’s what I didn’t know about dating at 30:
You will swipe left countless times and right a few times too.
You will send too many messages to count back and forth and will wonder if anything will ever come of it.
You will go on three first dates in three weeks while working 180+ hours in that time (while still finding time for friends, I’d like to add).
You will also go one one subsequent second and third date only to discover that your date is emotionally unavailable. Which is disappointing since you’ve had three great dates where he tells you that you made his face hurt from laughing and smiling so much.
Because, as it turns out, nearly all men my age are just getting out of their first marriage OR very much enjoy their bachelorhood. Neither makes for particularly good boyfriend material, I’ve found.
And then exhaustion will set in and you’ll wonder if any of this makes one lick of difference.
But then you'll come home and your cat will follow you around like a puppy and everything will feel totally normal again.
