gif mood board. featuring azalea thaxton’s personality
Azalea stood alone by the snacks table and slipped another tiny pretzel into her mouth. She looked around, mostly watching the other campers at the spring bonfire. She ate the last pretzel in her hand and had to admit she was getting thirsty. Her eyes found their way over to the bowl of punch and she began debating on pouring herself a drink or not. “—Will you taste the punch for me and tell me if it’s spiked or not?” She asked the person who had walked up next to her with all of her usual politeness and sweet soft voice.
maxinearbcr:
“Oh of course!” Maxine agreed, almost insisting. She was still the slightest bit afraid of the dark, especially on a night like this. “It’s always safer to travel in pairs, right? The buddy system and all that,” she rambled, glad to be in good company.
Azalea was happily greeted by Maxine’s bright attitude and it almost felt easier standing in the darkness. “Thank you, thank you,” She responded, smiling and hurrying up to take a spot next to the other demigod. She nodded in reply to them. “Yes, definitely. I don’t know why the buddy system isn’t used more, honestly,” She commented, and then began walking alongside Maxine. “Where are you heading to? Just so I know if I’m going to walk alone at all.” She asked, already feeling comfortable to express herself in front of her just as good company.

Everett smiled apologetically, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to,” He looked at the time and sighed with relief, “Oh good, I haven’t been sleeping that long so I haven’t missed much,” He paused, “Thanks for letting me sleep. I was up all night planning my lesson for today. I usually do it the day before but I also had a busy day yesterday,” He ran a hand through his hair as it was likely a mess, “It’s Azalea right?”
“...It’s okay,” Azalea gently took the apologetic smile that Everett tossed her way and remained turned in his direction. “You must’ve just accidentally fell asleep?” She suggested in reply and then showed her own pacifistic smile to the other demigod. “It’s no problem,” She said, before a wondering expression tugged onto her face. “...You teach that one class, right? The one with the spear?” Azalea asked, hoping she remembered his face correctly. “I hope you got the chance to figure out your lesson for today,” She nodded. “Yes, that’s me,” She smiled politely again. “What was your name again?” She questioned, slightly embarrassed by the social interaction.

Christian looked at the person who spoke. He hesitated at first, which was normal for the boy to do when he didn’t really know the person he was talking to. “Uh yeah, sure,” was his response, quietly. “Which cabin are you going to? I can walk you to yours if you want, before going to mine. Mine is probably farther anyway, it usually is.”
“Thank you so much. I just get uncomfortable sometimes,” Azalea responded after Christian had hesitated, sounding rather grateful to the tall boy with dark hair who stood before her. They were nothing more than strangers and, so, Azalea was half-expecting the very first question that Christian had posed. “People ask that question a lot around here, don’t they?” She commented. “I’m, uh, going to the Hermes cabin tonight, though. Is it on the way, I hope?” She said, her inflection rising.

“I like the stars,” she responded. “I mean not as much as I like the sunrise and sunset, but the stars are pretty cool.” Sophia took a seat next to Azalea. “And I couldn’t sleep.”
“Oh, yeah. I forget to look at the stars, I’m usually too busy looking where I’m going,” Azalea confessed with a smile. “Well, that makes sense because sunsets happen right before the stars come out,” She responded, taking a seat as well; next to her friend. “I couldn’t sleep either,” She said in agreement and let out a small sigh. “The Hermes cabin is just so annoying,” Azalea said. “Everyone stays up so late, and is so loud, that I hardly can get any rest.”
vercnicahyde:
“Do you truly believed that, or are you blaming yourself to avoid being angry with them?” Veronica countered inquisitively. She could tell the other was a lot more sensitive than Vonnie ever was, but regardless of who’s fault it was everything action had a consequence. Veronica still believed that it made sense for Azalea to tell those campers off for ruining her hard work.
“Oh, I don’t get angry,” Azalea confessed but it was a lie because every time she got angry ( which really wasn’t that often ), she didn’t know how to react to it. She was much better at calming people down, instead of the other way around. “I’ll just...” She paused to think of her options. “I’ll just have to restart and pick a new spot and maybe invest in a little fence, or something,” She spoke, wiping under her eye even though she hadn’t even cried yet. She was mentally preparing herself for her tears to turn their back on her. “-Why? What would you do if you were me and this happened?” Azalea questioned, looking back at Vonnie.
biography updated !!
Azalea stood out in front of the entrance to the infirmary. Her father always told her that she had healing hands and a gentle soul, so what better way to put those both to use than volunteering to help out the Apollo kids and the satyrs at the infirmary? She couldn’t see any other way. So, after lending a hand to any injured or overworked campers that afternoon/early evening, it was now getting late and she knew that she should start heading back to the Hermes cabin before curfew falls but she was a little uneasy for a few reasons: leaving there by herself and also the way the shadows seemed to be a little darker than normal. Maybe it was just her brain playing tricks on her, she was always being spooked for no reason, but she turned her head to the side and to the person nearby. “Are you going back to the cabins? Can I walk with you?” Azalea asked.
“Holy shit!” Everett exclaimed, jumping up, “What time is it? How long have I been asleep?”
Having found a spot in the Mess Hall, Azalea was sitting nearby the sleeping boy ( but not too close ) when he suddenly jumped up and startled her. “Oh my gods!” She placed a hand over her chest where her heart was beating fast now. “You frightened me,” Azalea explained with a sigh that was meant to calm her down. “Um, uh,” She looked around for her phone and, once she found it, she turned on the display light and showed Everett the time which was a little after lunch. “I don’t know how long you’ve been here because you were sleeping when I got here, but I figured I’d let you sleep. You seemed like you needed it...” She said. “Did you have a long night last night?” Azalea asked, genuinely worried about Everett’s sleep schedule.
i’m gonna grow so many flowers and strawberries, and be the guardian to so many honeybees. just watch me
“And you’re just going to let them get away with that?”
“What else am I supposed to do?” Azalea was frowning and could feel her face flush with embarrassment and another emotion that was more foreign to her — anger. A group of younger campers had ran through her vegetable garden that she had been busy planting and working on for weeks it seemed, and it was located right outside of the area the cabins are in. Currently down on her knees, assessing the damage to her newly growing crops, Azalea looked up at Veronica and blinked hard a few times to keep herself from crying. “It was an accident. I can’t blame them. I was the one who decided to use this particular spot.” She described.
It had been a long day and evening for Azalea, staying out on the beach to see the sunset. Bottle of pink lemonade in hand, she walked idly up and down the shore while humming quietly to herself and occasionally taking swigs from her half empty bottle. It was difficult for her to tell how good she really was, being all alone without anyone to talk to — that was, until she saw someone else coming down the beach opposite to her. As the other girl’s figure approached, Azalea took a moment to narrow her eyes in an attempt to focus in on Sophia before shaking her head a bit and rubbing her eyes with her free hand. “What are you doing out here so late?” She asked.
