Getting out of the car, seeing the courthouse, all of a sudden it felt incredibly real. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach as Tom squeezed on her hand and her teeth sunk into her bottom lip to prevent her smile from growing embarrassingly large.Ā āReadiest Iāve ever beenā She said with a nod, looking up at him and puckering her lips up to kiss him back with her eyes closed, only to open them and see those baby blue eyes she adored so much. She hummed happily, bumping the tip of her nose with his before they begun walking towards the main entrance hand in hand.Ā
Giving one of her close friends, who was serving today as a photographer, a big hug and thanking her for coming along, letting go of Tomās hand only for a second, going back with her eyes to find it again to move further into the chambers, and seeing him use his hand to wipe at his faceĀ āYouāre already⦠Oh Tommyā She said with a little giggle, taking his hand and kissing the back of it, before they made their way towards the counter, ignoring the flashing camera just as if they were on the streets of LA, but this time not because she was annoyed, but because all her eyes were on Tommy. He was very emotional, heād always been emotional, but crying before they even walked into the building? That was a new level of adorably emotional Lizzie hadnāt thought heād get to. They signed in, Lizzieās hands nervously shaking and fumbling with her clutch, struggling to get everything in an out of it, before it was all done and dusted.Ā
From time to time, as they walked up the stairs, she could hear Tom sniffling up his tears, making her chuckle and shake her headĀ āIf you were gonna cry this much, I wouldāve brought tissuesā She teased him, bringing him close to her by the hand and kissing his bicep over his suit jacket. The judgeās office was big, and unlike what sheād imagined, but it was the perfect setting. Nobody was there, just the two of them and the person taking pictures. Seeing the huge book open, the same excitement tingles overcame Lizzieās brain and stomach, heart pumping a million miles an hour as she got the pen passed to herĀ āNothing here. Not now, not everā She gave Tom a little smile before bending down to sign on the line. The judge said a few lines about the wonders of marriage, the joys of a life as a pair, and then looked back up at them, asking if theyād written down their own vows. Lizzie nodded her head, turning to face Tom, a hand holding his.Ā āTommyā His eyes were tearing, and she couldnāt help but sniffle too and laughĀ Ā āI think Iāve been in love with you since the day I met you. Youāre the kindest, most incredible man Iāve ever met. Youāre very sweet, and caring, and dedicated, and I donāt think I could be marrying a better man for me. I promise to love you always, in the good times and bad. I promise to not laugh whenever you start quoting Shakespeare to amuse me and to take you seriously when you start using old classics as references to the modern world, and to always keep Beatles memorabilia around the whole house, no matter where we moveā She laughed a little, reaching out to hold his other handĀ āAnd I promise to always ask for things in the most awkward and non-traditional way possible, like coffees on the rocks. Youāre the most incredible man Iāve ever had the pleasure of knowing, youāre the one human being whoās seen me at my highest highs and at my lowest lows, and still chooses to sit through hours of me crying and not talking, and holds me, and still loves me at the end of every difficult dayā Her throat caught up with tears, and she breathed up her nose strongly once moreĀ āIāve loved you since 2014, and I donāt ever want to stop loving youāĀ
Tom glanced immediately over at Lizzie, cheeks turning a crimson red as she took note of him already beginning to well up in tears. He couldnāt help it if he tried, it was emotional and overwhelming. He had known Lizzie for so long, been so close to her off and on and he never could have imagined marrying her. Well, he could and did imagine the what ifās throughout the length of time they had known each other, but never enough to actually believe he was going to be standing before her, signing his name off on legal papers to officially become Elizabeth Olsenās loving husband. It was too good to be true. The right woman standing right under his nose for the longest time. āIām sorry, I canāt help it. Iāve been dreaming of this moment for the longest time, and itās been you all along, Lizzie, from the very start.ā
Tom helped remove Lizzieās jacket and set her bag onto the pew behind them to free up her arms and hands, wanting nothing more than to hold them in his own. The entire beginning of the short ceremony felt like a strong wave of deja vu. For a minute there, all Tom could think about was filming the elopement scene with her during I Saw The Light, and thinking about whether or not he was ever going to marry himself before the cameras started rolling inside of that car garage shop. Little did he knowā¦
Really, it was hard to even focus on what the hell that judge was even going on about. Wedding ceremonies were always hard for Tom to really focus in on, beyond the shared vows of bride and groom, and his was apparently no different. He was too busy getting lost in the green eyes he loved looking into so much, his lips occasionally twitching into a smirk or genuine smile. Marriage and what it meant to be a married couple, he heard that much, but all he wanted was to say his vows and promises to Lizzie and hear her own, kiss the life out of her and sign all of the papers that legally bided them to one another before they could officially begin the rest of their lives.
As soon as Lizzie took the reins and started her own vows, the tears took no time at all to resurface in Tomās eyes. He gave a sheepish grin, along with a nervous laugh, chiming along with Lizzieās, and released one of her hands for a split second to rub between his eyes. Tom took a breath and refocused himself, shifting his stance to a more comfortable one. He stifled a few laughs at the pop culture references, shaking his head slightly at her with a widened grin. All of the little chaotic things Lizzie did, that she brought up in her vows, they were just the things he loved most about her. There was no one who could make his day the way she did just by being Lizzie. His brows furrowed a bit in concern, his own nostrils flaring as the blonde got more choked up during her sentiment. As much as he wanted to kiss her, he knew he had to save it for only a few moments after sharing his own, releasing her hands to bring his own up to her face and brush the stray tears away from her eyes.
Tom had written out his vows, after spending days working on them in his office, a million sonnets and metaphors scribbled on page until he came up with the most perfect five page long speech of his utter devotion. Half of it he had memorized but in the moment, Tom decided suddenly, he didnāt want to pull them out and read to her from a script heād written. It all came from the same place at the end of the day, but he just wanted to speak organically and stare into her eyes the entire time he spoke.
Tom took a generous inhale, swallowing the emotional lump in his throat as his blue eyes burned with tears and he stared at her adoringly, āLizzie, from the moment I met you, I felt a spark between us. Iāve spent so many years wanting to work with you and thinking about you off and on, wondering, what if? like a little schoolboy with a crush. You thank me for loving you through your weaknesses, for holding you for a prolonged period when your anxieties are at their worst or your mental health just isnāt holding up for you the way it should, but itās the easiest thing I have ever done, not that Iām suggesting itās easy or makes my day to see you like that. What Iām saying is, give me your bad days, the days where your anxiety wonāt even allow you to pick up a simple coffee from your favorite shop, you overslept and youāre late to set, your plants arenāt blooming the way they should, despite how much attention youāve given them, and every insecurity of yours that pops up one after another. Give me all of that, and I will give you my love in return to make it all right.ā He nodded a bit, his bottom lip quivering ever so slightly.
āI love you so much, Lizzie. Loving you, falling in love with you, being with you is the easiest thing Iāve ever done. You and your love is the strongest antidote Iāve ever taken, you make everything go away, every hardship, every struggle, every thought surrounding anything else, good or bad, when you walk into the same room, all I can see, all I can feel, all I can breathe,ā Tomās voice cracked, a sniffle following as he reached a hand up to rub under his nose. āI just want to wrap myself right into you until youāre the only thing I know and can feel, until Iām suffocating. My very heart beats for you. The strong feelings I have for you, I canāt even justify. I could stand here for hours and try to put into words about what you mean to me and how you make my life better by just existing but no sonnet, no poems, no string of words could ever measure up to how much I love you, Elizabeth. With every beat of my heart, from the day that I met you to the end of eternity, Iām yours.ā Not even half-way through the finishing statement from the judge pronouncing them husband and wife, could Tom wait to pull her in and kiss her in possibly the most passionate kiss he had ever given a person, his hands holding the back of her visible waist and head. He kissed her hard and deep, concentrated but messy, until he ran out of his own breath, as if he was never going to kiss her again, nonetheless for the rest of their lives. He couldnāt care less about the witnesses in the room, all he cared about was his wife and everything he had ever felt for her coming to stream. Tom pulled back only to rest his head against hers, sniffles and gasps to catch up on his breath as his hands cradled her face and stroked along her cheekbones, before returning to hold her hands against his chest. He gave her face a nuzzle with his own, pressing another kiss to the corner of her lips.
