Assignment - Coding a Game in Python
One of our assignments this year has been to code a computer game in python. It doesn't have to be anything overly complicated - it's just a text-based adventure game. I am having a lot of fun with it though!

Revision Week
This week has been pretty much empty; since we're first year students, the majority of our lecturers have given us time in our lessons this week to work on our course work, or to revise for our exam. Here is some of the revision I did today (started a new notebook since I've already finished one 😅) along with my to-do list in the corner.
Reading
This week I've got loads of reading to do, although one of these books (Flashfolio) is for pleasure reading/idea generation.
It's almost the end of term (the rest of this week, and then next week) and so I have one project to submit and then a game and a webpage to submit after Christmas.
somehow I got 95/20 on an assignment
I hope they never fix it and leave it this way forever
reblog the Awesome Grade picture for awesome grades
guys this really works i reblogged it and then got 870% on an essay
May your GPA rise due to clerical error.
this magical tumblr grade increaser comes once in a million years, reblog for good grades
You know what I wish
This week's focus is really on Python, with a little bit of Computer Structures mixed in
Do you have any tips for keeping organized?
A good folder system on your desktop is key - ie subfolders, subfolders, subfolders.
For non-desktop work, I find lever-arch folders with dividers are the easiest ways to store and organise paper etc.
I'm going to school for CS, but I quickly lose focus outside of class. Any tips on keeping focused while studying?
The way I tend to focus on studying is by giving my work a purpose - if the class is code based I might code a website using what I'm meant to learn, if it's a knowledge based test I'll do practice questions etc. Makes it seem more relavent and interesting
A Sick QnA
Since I’m currently under the weather and trying to do some studying while wrapped up under the covers of my bed, I thought I may as well do a QnA session if you guys have any questions - whether that be about studying, or otherwise.
All Qs welcome :)
Hey there, I’m back again! I’ve been mostly writing my essays this week which is why I haven’t posted anything in the last few days (since avoiding plagarism hits and all that), but here are some of the digital notes I made in my Computing Fundamentals lesson - we were learning about the mathematics of vectors which was a nice recap of stuff I’d studied a few years ago.
The reason I’ve moved over to digital notes recently is for two reasons - concentration and also because the lecturer often talks faster than I can type, whereas I can basically touch type so that’s quicker.
Overall, life is going well! Lessons are going smoothly, and me and my friends are having a great time doing things like watching movies and having pizza parties as a treat. Unfortunately, I’ve caught laryngitis in the last few days though and as a result I’m in bed coughing while writing this post. Hopefully it clears up quickly!
Flash Card Revision
I haven’t posted in forever, and I am so sorry! I’ve been super busy with socialising and classwork that I’d completely forgotten to take photos/screenshots of my progress.
However, these pictures of my flashcards are ones I’m quite proud of - they look really professional. These flashcards are for my computer fundamental module as I have a mock coming up in about three weeks, followed by the real exam in January!
Finally, I want to thank you all for 1200 followers! I cannot believe that there are that many of you interested in what I am creating so thank you, again, so much! I’m thinking potentially a giveaway or something at 2k but I’ll keep you posted!
Computing Fundamentals - Homework
See my week 2 written and corrected homework.
So the last few weeks have been crazy. I've made some good friends and I've managed to keep up with my coursework.
Having a slightly stressful morning planning this essay. It luckily isn’t due until November, but I’ve been slowly collecting sources and points for it since it’s worth 50% of this modules grade.
Luckily, with how my course works, I only need to pass my modules this year as they don’t count for my final grade but I need them to get re-enrolled next year.
Other than that, apologies for the lack of posts! I’ve been socialising quite a bit for the last few weeks, and have only really had time to do my sensitive material work (ie the actual code, which I’m not allowed to publish otherwise I’d be hit with plagerism).
What is a Computer?
Computing Fundamentals
Today was my first day of University Classes, and they were actually really interesting! I was somewhat worried that we'd go over things I already knew, but in this class we learnt more about the history of Computers, and also a little bit about Set Theory which is something I haven't looked at since GCSE Mathematics.
Overall today was a good day!
In other news, thank you guys so much for 600+ followers! It's very strange to me that people find my work interesting, but thank you so much. If you every have any questions/comments, feel free to drop them in my ask box and I'll respond ASAP!
Sorry for the lack of activity in the last week or so, I've been super busy and recently caught Freshers flu so haven't had the time to make any notes for posting. Luckily, first class is on Tuesday so I will definitely have some notes to post that afternoon - look forward to it!
Looping
And I’m back! After a long weekend of moving in (my desk is still a bit messy, excuse that. And I haven’t really figured out the curtain/lighting situation so we’ll see) ‘m back on the study grind. As I’m not a huge partier, I have quite a lot of time over freshers to make notes, and then I start my actual lessons on the 24th.
In other news, I’ve met one of my flatmates currently, and he’s nice so thats good. Also, thank you so much for almost 500 followers! I didn’t get to say it for 400 over the weekend, but it’s so cool to see so many people interested in something I thought others considered mundane - my studies.
TAS
Sorry for the lack of posts this weekend! I’m currently in the process of moving into my new place in preparation for the start of University next week, and so I’m a bit busy and in the process of organising. I think the next post is likely to be Tuesday or Wednesday.
Budgeting
With only 2 days left before I am officially moved out of my childhood home, I have gone back into my budget and have adjusted it slightly so that it’s a bit more accurate. This is, obviously, a loose budget that is designed to have leeway. However, I don’t tend to spend much I’m a cheap ass so the figures are probably more accurate than I like to admit.
The photo on the left is my playlist.
In addition to editing my budget, I finally packed all of my clothes in preparation of moving in, which was definitely the most daunty task on my list so it’s nice that it’s done (I think). Just tech now to pack up and then I’m all ready!
