When you meet with an unfortunate accident in the real world you find yourself cast into the role of the younger Medulloi sibling. Your elder brother is the Duke of Ausones, a small and recent addition to the Nasennii Empire.
For three hundred years the Imperial war machine has fueled the Nasennii expansionism across the continent of Fantasia. A war machine that has been unable to advance across the northern expanses that make up Ithel.
Imperial superstition maintains that it is unlucky for a commander to remain unwed - so when the Royal Bastard, the Emperor's cursed child, makes little headway in the campaign a marriage in absentia is arranged.
A marriage to you.
It's a new world with a spouse you have never met.
Oh, except one itty-bitty thing - Fantasia Crown Wars is one of the most popular media franchises to exist. (Oh, and a savvy fan knows that Auberon Medulloi's younger sibling died.)
Characters
Auberon Medulloi - The Duke of Blood
Your new half-brother. He's famous among fans for his brutality as a military commander and the cold calculus with which he approaches his alliances when he's introduced during the third book of the main series. You know him as your warm, slightly fussy elder half-brother who frets himself silly over taking care of your family's lands and makes you sweets when you feel sad. He's joined you in the Imperial Capital to insure that you're safe and have all the support you could possibly stand. In the books he becomes the most feared leader of a rebellion against the Nassenian throne. One that was destroyed by your spouse and leads to Auberon's eventual execution.
Lucius/Lucia Nasennia(us) - Your Spouse, the Cursed Royal (RO)
They are the emperor's eldest child, the illegitimate one whom misfortune follows like an old friend. They were born in the dead of a moonless night and gifted with the ice magic of Ithel through their mother's veins. The priesthood has sworn should they ever take the throne it will be the end of the Nasennian Empire. And yet they are among the most gifted commanders of the age, it is on them victory against Ithel and peace among the conquered lands depend. The books described them as cold and calculating. The blockbuster movie saw them behead their younger brother after arranging the death of their father. They were also supposed to be unwed.
Marcus Nasennius - The Golden Prince (RO)
The third child of the emperor and the heir to the throne after the death of their sister. Marcus has always been the charmer of the royal family, the one for whom life was easy and joyful. He's said to have been blessed by the Empire's gods - born on a bright summer day in the heat of noon, and gifted with command of light magic he has always been placed in competition with his elder brother by the court, but they were friends once. Marcus was one of the main characters of the books - and the classic prince charming had always quite popular. So popular, in fact, that after his tragic demise in the movie he was brought back to life in the television show.
Rossella Catilia - The Red Mage (RO)
The Catilia family has stood behind and beside the throne of Nasennia since the War of Sparks founded the nascent Empire. They are wealthy and powerful and Rossella is the same age as Prince Marcus. She was brought to court at a young age and raised with the expectation that she would be among those considered as his match. A marriage she's openly appalled by due to her close friendship - and lack of romantic feelings for both the royal brothers. Still she's publicly considered the picture of what an Imperial Lady should strive for. Like many Imperial nobles she has some talent as a mage with a reputation as a skilled healer. In the books Rossella played the part of peacemaker between the brothers until her sudden foreign marriage removed her from the picture during TFCW's brief period as a graphic novel. (A move her fans hated almost as much as the scarlet color her hair was colored with on those pages.)
Caerwyn - The Assassin from Ithel (RO)
Bright, obnoxious, oh, and a vampire. This Ithellen assassin was meant to be your death. You're still not sure what changed his mind, nor why he's decided to serve you as your personal "spy-slash-assassin-slash-bodyguard-slash-gossip-gatherer". Caerwyn's appeared in the plot far earlier than he should have based on the books, where he only emerges out from the shadows after Ithel's defeat. Following the demise of his homeland he had come to serve your brother, Auberon. Caerwyn is among those that is supposed to be killed by your spouse, having dramatically sacrificed himself to ensure the escape of the rebel army and leading to that arc lasting much longer than anyone expected it would.
Rune Leleux - The Knight? (RO)
Like the assassin Caerwyn, Rune Leleux has shown up in the story far earlier than they should have. In fact you have a strong suspicion that the next book that was suppose to release in a month will reveal that the person introduced as a wandering bounty hunter and oath-breaking knight stole the real Leleux's identity. The Rune Leleux you know serves as your brother's faithful knight and right hand. They've been your friend since you were children. You can't see how the soft-spoken, if sometimes sarcastic, warrior who helps you live in Fantasia could possibly be the brutal and heavily scarred murderer draped in wolf skin that the Bastard Royal hires to help assassinate the emperor and sabotage the capital's defenses.
Robin Watcher - The Bard (RO)
This sweet natured bard is a minor character in the canon - like your new identity is. Or at least, she must be, because you definitely can't remember her from anywhere. (Maybe she was one of those unnamed extra in that one made-for-tv movie that everyone prefers to forget exists?) Whoever this bard is she always seems to know quite a bit about whoever happens to be around - and, well, she's rather curious about you. (In more ways than one.) Also, no one seems to know who she is or where she came from, just that she's great with instruments and has a very pretty voice.

Get ready!! Public release for Chapter 13 begins one week from now, April 15th at 10 A.M. EST.
Patreon release begins five days early for the Midnight Tier on April 10th at 9 A.M. EST, while the Twilight tier receives the chapter three days early on April 12th.
As you may know, Chapter 13 features the long-awaited romance lock (and also more than a few smooches). And, for those of you who are playing platonically, these scenes are a chance for you to get closer to your RO of choice. I've had so much fun writing these scenes, and I'm so excited that they will finally be yours!
What to Expect:
Comfort [A] and discuss your history as best friends... or more
Talk about Blane's history and unravel why they hate you so much (or do they?)
Learn N's (surprisingly tragic?) backstory and find out what you mean to them
Hear K's thoughts on immortality and why they push you away
Find out what happened when Rylan got accused of murder
And more!!
The cat's out of the bag! See you all very, very soon. All my love <3
I'm always a fan of more creative jobs! Painter, writer, baker, tattoo artist.. Or maybe some manner of care taking? A kindergarten teacher, teacher, vet, florist.. Nurse?
Oh! Baker could be fun for some unique flavor text during hang out times with Auberon. And I hadn't thought of that one yet, so I think it'll go on the list. :)
I did decide that I'm only going to do one medically-themed job. After some debate veterinarian has won the competition on the basis that it means that even if you study with Ash then you STILL have a unique benefit from your past skills.
Otherwise writers-or-some-writer-adjacent-job is on the list so they can have a unique relationship with the Narrator since that sounded fun.
I'm definitely adding the teacher and painter ideas to consideration though. Thank you for reaching out!
The Artemis II crew captured this view of an Earthset on April 6, 2026, as they flew around the Moon.
The image is reminiscent of the iconic Earthrise image taken by astronaut Bill Anders 58 years earlier as the Apollo 8 crew flew around the Moon. The Apollo 8 mission was the first crewed spacecraft to circumnavigate the Moon.
For more imagery from the mission, visit our Artemis II Multimedia Page.

Softly, Opulent by @softlyopulent-if - Still relatively early in the IF, but I'm intrigued.
Fate Unwritten by @fateunwritten-if - I took forever deciding which noble house to make my MC from, there were too many good choices.
Bethroned by @barracuda-shark-games - The arranged marriage partner is not romancable in this one, but I thought I'd still include it since the marriage itself is still central to the lot.
My marriage to the Cursed Royal by @the-bed-gremlins-reading-list -Been a while since I read this one, but I remember liking it, the brother especially.
I know there's more, but now that I've set myself to come up with a list, this is all I can think of. 😭(Also is anyone wants to be removed from the list let me know.)
It is. Mostly. I'm in a period of hardcore burnout when it comes to writing, or anything creative really, but I've been slowly plucking away. Honestly thinking about pulling the information for my projects down - I'm not giving up on them but I know that I am going to take years on them at this pace and that's considerably slower than folks expect. (Which I'm fine with, this is a hobby, and my speed issues is why I never even considered monetizing.)
Thanks for checking in with me.
Here's a picture of the Bed Gremlin herself reminding us all that sunshine is good for the soul as thanks!

The kingdom has outgrown you in the fifteen years since you left. It’s no longer the place where heroes triumph against impossible odds—those victories depended on you. Now, it’s a fractured place. Steeped in cynicism; hardened by fear. The beauty remains, but it’s a thin veil over scars that run deep.
Reality has crept in.
The self-insert you abandoned is a has-been hero; when you disappeared, so did their knack for saving the day. Plagued by the traumas you inflicted on them in their shining days as Protagonist-slash-Punching Bag, they went off in search of rhyme and reason.
And it led them to you.
Just traces of you—echoes—but enough to understand: you were the cause of it all. You used them as an outlet for your teenage angst, and when you grew out of your phase, you left them at the mercy of the world you'd created.
But you poured too much of yourself into them. Made them too real. And inch by inch, they followed the threads you left behind. Learning you. Becoming you. So when you finally reopened the website on your 30th birthday, all they had to do was reach out and…
It was just a link on a blog. Now you are them and they are you.
As you set out in search of a way back, your path is haunted by twisted manifestations of old wounds. You thought those memories could never hurt you again.
But now, they have teeth.

Canon Divergence is the origin story for the rest of the planned (and unplanned) games in The Severed Verse Series. What happens in this game will become legend in the future instalments.
This game is my 'what if I had a silly concept but took it seriously?' project. I'm working consistently for hours a day on it, and it's absolutely a labour of love.
I'll of course take constructive criticism as I go along, but I will not be taking suggestions for how the story or characters are written unless I explicitly ask. Thank you for understanding, and I hope you stick around!

Steam, Itch.io and the banning of explicit and LGBT+ Content. What can we do?
[All images in this post have alt/id text if you need it or want to copy paste anything]
With no warning, Itch.io, a site where many host their indie games, comics, books and more, has started purging and shadowbanning explicit and LGBT+ works. Creators got no warning. And if they were still owed payouts from these works, Itch.io is saying they won't give them their money as they 'broke the rules'. Rules that were only just set in place, with no warning, and therefore no way for creators to try and draw out their money or delete these 'offending' works before they got banned under the new rules.
So Itch.io has been the most recent to fall to the demands of a group that's been contacting Visa and Mastercard and convincing them to threaten sites/businesses with 'stop selling what we consider to be explicit content on your sites of we'll stop allowing your site to have transactions with Visa and Mastercard'. Steam folded, and now Itchio has too. And a reminder earlier this year Gumroad also stopped allowing explicit content, further back than that Patreon banned some kinks and fetishes even if it's depicted in fiction not real life, and I don't have to explain to you guys the great Tumblr explicit content ban of 2018.
And as always remember this doesn't stop with sexually explicit work as LGBT+ stories and people are often labelled as explicit and already we're seeing works being taken off Itch.io that are about LGBT+ and especially trans stories. Other non-sexually explicit works I've seen already getting shadowbanned, delisted or deleted are SFW games featuring furries/anthros, SFW dress up games (because when you take the clothes the model is nude), and the aforementioned SFW games that include LGBT+ characters and stories.
I'm compiling here information I've seen around various social medias, mostly Bluesky, because I haven't seen all these things shared over here.
I don't personally have explicit content on itch, but I had been considering one day selling things on there and I do currently have explicit content on my Patreon, my main source of income, and am terrified that Patreon is going to fold next (if anyone knows alterative for hosting audio content behind a paid subscription service please let me know so I can start maybe making a back-up in case the worst happens). Because for me personally if Patreon goes next, it's not like I can go out and easily get another job. Not only because in general finding and getting a job is difficult enough, but I'm autistic and have chronic pain and have been constantly getting sick or new pains over the last few years and don't feel safe being trans in the UK right now and all of that combined rules me out of a lot of jobs and makes me feel unsafe to apply to any. I'm so grateful I've been able to make a community around my work, but if Patreon caves next and I just leave my SFW posts on Patreon... 10% of my Patreons are signed up to the SFW tier, 90% are signed up to the explicit tier... I know if Patreon caves I will go from someone living comfortably who's searching to move out of my parents so I can live in a safer environment to someone who can no longer even afford the rent I pay to my parents. I'll try and get an alterative found and set up in case that happens and I can only hope you guys will follow me to whatever other site I have to set up... but it feels unlikely that people will get a whole new account on a whole new payment provider just to support me on a website they might never have heard of...
But what can we do right now?

Don't know what to say on the phone? Here's a script written by timidtanuki:
Creators have had their work removed off Itch.io with no warning and since it's been removed for 'breaking the rules' (rules that were suddenly in place with no warning) they aren't entitled to get their payouts. Just like other sites such as Youtube and Twitch and Etsy, Itch.io hold onto money from their users in a wallet and then give them payouts. So there is money creators have made, are owed, that Itch.io is not giving to them.
People are recommending that if you still have works on Itch.io to turn down the revenue sharing to 0% so that Itch.io no longer takes a cut or your money if you no longer want to support Itchi.io finically but don't want to remove your works from their platform. X
Other Bluesky posts and calls to action I've seen:
radiantg.bsky.social is asking for anyone on Itch.io who got their game deindexed, removed , or payouts turned off to reach out to them (espeically if you make explicit and/or LGBT+ games) for a piece of journalism about what is happening.
sleepyhart.bsky.social is making a threat of all the games that Itch.io has censored/removed from their site search function. Obviously be aware this will include 18+ only games, games with sexual content and other dark or heavy themes.
thetransfemininereview.com wants you to reach out to them if you're a trans creator on Itch.io who is being affected by this so they can make an accurate report. they say 'authors' in their post and I'm unsure if they also want game devs to reach out.
dropdownbear.bsky.com wants you to reach out if you have purchased things on Itch.io that you can now no longer access because of this ban. they can include them in a report being filed with the Australian Consumer Commission as this may be a violation of Australian Consumer rights. If you are Australian you can no longer access things you purchased of Itch.io you can report directly with this guide.
It's a scary time for adult creators and sex workers. It's a scary time to be trans. Support creators. And if anyone knows of any alternate payment providers that allow explicit work, and/or alternate websites to Itch (and in case things get worse, also give me Patreon alternates please) where people can host, sell and/or offer paid subscriptions to writing, images, videos, audios, games and more please leave them in the replies. And please help share this post, the posts I'm linking too, and any other resources you can find.
Minors DNI. Ageless blogs DNI. I want resources and help but I don't reply to this post or follow this blog if you're under 18, this is an explicit blog and not for anyone under 18.
Thank you for your patience everyone !! Bad Ritual, chapter...6? The chapter numbers aren't meaningful, but the new chapter is up !! Learn how to be a warlock, dragging your partner and patron kicking and screaming along with you.
Bad Ritualis an interactive Twine-based romance wherein you, a corporate demon hunter, find yourself helplessly bound to an archdemon after your mysterious boss leaves you alone with a clearly unauthorized binding ritual. Who will you ally with: the archdemon, hell-bent on escaping the binding and disappearing forever, or the priestess Tahira, who would hunt him to the very ends of the earth?

Hello Employee of the Month !! Today begins your two weeks of early access to the new chapter of Bad Ritual. In the new chapter, you're a warlock now! Amidst all the reckless experimentation and flinching mistrust, how will this affect your relationship with your patron moving forward?
The early access schedule is as follows:
May 26th: Employee of the Month ($10USD/month)
June 9th: Apocalyptic Hermit ($5USD/month)
June 16th: Public Update
Bad Ritual is an interactive Twine-based romance wherein you, a corporate demon hunter, find yourself helplessly bound to an archdemon after your mysterious boss leaves you alone with a clearly unauthorized binding ritual. Thank-you so, so much for your support; given the state of the world, it is no small thing for me to have financial support to do this, and I know it is no small thing for you to offer it 💚💚
Hi, do you have a progress update on the demo? I think it's been a few months since you've posted about the game.
Admittedly there's been very little progress. Some rather major things happened that derailed my work into anything and everything at the end of last year and then my focus had to be on securing employment.
I'm still working on it and I'm mightily annoyed with myself about how long it's been since I made a proper amount of progress.
This isn't the blog to follow for rapid updates, I'm afraid. You'll be better off unfollowing if you're not the patient type.
THE EARTH HAS TEETH Chapter 1 and 2 are ready to play!

Content notes
By the nature of the below notes, some story elements will be spoiled. Not all the content notes below apply to the current demo.
Paths through the game can include cruelty and violence to humans and magical animals, including blood, gore, injury, and death; dead bodies; duststorms; floods; dysphoria; earthquakes; landslides and avalanches; recreational alcohol and drug use; starvation; ritual skin-cutting; trauma responses; wildfires; various other environmental hazards and disasters.
Some paths will contain optional sexually explicit scenes. These can be played through in detail, or played as fade-to-black.
Fixes and updates below! (This was actually across two updates, but I'll post about them together as the post is queued)
Fixes: stats page typo and exposed code, various typos and sentence-level tweaks/corrections throughout, fixed “initial pre-game activity” in the post-demo list; fixed demo end page errors; fixed chapter-skip error
Minor tweaks throughout, including on the stat page
Clarified Chapter 1 height choices
Made a cute little clarification re Vastan purring (thank you for that note, anonymous player! I had entirely forgotten that normal tigers don't purr, despite having whole binders of big cat facts when I was a child!)
Expanded and clarified parts of the Vastan chamber description in Chapter 1
Big expansion to the start of Chapter 2 and timeskip transition
Clarified Issi response to the MC being upset but silent in Chapter 2
Clarified section about asexuality and aromanticism
Changed trigger for proto-romantic Nikita moment in Chapter 2 (they now have to be more impressed with the MC for it to trigger); removed opportunity to ogle Nikita as it didn’t quite feel right to me for the moment (there will be further ogling chances in the future)
Added option to not have had facial hair as a cis man; changed some ways in which facial hair/shaving variables are set behind the scenes
Added another quiet option when talking with Helvi and friends
It seems you provide a variety of knowledge to the MC from clueless to lore nut, so my ask is when MC could use this knowledge to their benefit? While I understand this probably could make drastic change to the original story, surely there has to be somewhere the narrator no longer intervene? I mean MC is alive and this is their new reality, to not interact and able to influence outcome seems weird.
OKAY. So. Flavoring this with a warning that I spent most of today trying (and failing) to save one of my new corydoras (this is why you quarantine your new fish folks) and treating my QT tank to try and keep the others from getting sick, when my day off was supposed to have been spent writing so my apologies if I sound a little more abrupt than my awkward ass already usually is.
I have reasons that the Narrator (capitalized for character, versus me as the narrator) does what they do and how they CAN, and a big one with making this choice a thing is because I needed to draw the reader's attention to the Narrator. So. Yeah. It's kinda supposed to seem weird? That's the feeling that is supposed to happen there - it was deliberately meant to put a reader's hackles up about the Narrator and make y'all go "yeah, this is SUS".
The MC can use that knowledge to their advantage, but not YET. This is early days in the game, even in the rewrite the attempt to warn or change anything remains a non-choice: you cannot save the MC's and Auberon's parents. There is nothing you can do to stop the Empire. Nothing you can do as a child will ever change Ausones' fate.
Remember, folks, there is always an agenda behind every narration and every narrator has at least one that they may or may not be sharing.
