Positive Cat Update

I think she is passing the blockage on her own. Might have been a partial blockage caused by hairballs. She is a longhair, and it is shedding season... She has eaten, at least 3 times, throughout the day. Kept it down. Been drinking regularly, keeping *that* down... Used the litterbox, confirmed Number 2, which a cat with a blockage won't be able to do.

She's still a little out of it, but she's feeling better and getting slowly back to her old self.

I am still taking her to the vet in the morning, setting up an appointment and getting her checked over, full thorough checkup, blood tests to make sure nothing else is going on, all that, using the funds donated towards saving her life.

But she may not need the surgery. She might be ok. I was panicking there, for a while. But she seems to be recovering on her own. Thank goodness... I love that little dumbass.

Ariki caught something! Though it's small. But it's something! Unfortunately, they still haven't received any word from the Capitol, but a few small catches by Ariki has helped a bit. In fact, the others have managed to make small catches too. Focusing on lots of small catches has been more successful than trying to hunt down larger beasts.

Doctor: Don't let those big sad eyes make you worry, he's fine, I checked and made sure! There's a little swelling, but no permenant damage, he's just hamming it up and being a drama queen. *She chuckles in amusement* For such giant Beasts bred for war, sometimes Warbred can be such big babies! As for other bugs in the outpost, there's a few grounds keepers and those who help with repairs and maintenance, though the Warbred do most of their own chores. Kyradon does a lot of the cleaning up because he's too old to go do patrols. I, fortunately, am quite a good herbalist, so I've gathered some medicinal herbs to help poor Areto here with his... rather sore tenders, and to keep Kyradon limber. He's quite healthy for such an old Warbred! Most elders I've seen before being stationed here were a lot more sore and achy.

Thane isn't the only Warbred to have gotten a bit of bruising from that failed hunt! Poor Areto got kicked under the tail... which is the equivalent of a nutshot. Poor boy got kicked in the nards, has a bruise, and is very ouchy! His sister's trying to make him feel better, but she can't help but be a bit amused by his rather painful predicament. Look at that pout and those sad puppy eyes... poor Areto's gonna be sitting on an ice pack for a while!

Zardra is the one to answer, because Thane is fast asleep next to the sleepy Elder, who has lifted his head and flicked his antennae up at the new arrival. "Yeah he came by a while ago. It was maybe... a week or two later? That Kyradon arrived with the twins. I was worried we'd had a Maneless stationed with us at first.... and I wasn't exactly pleased with having to deal with one. I was relieved when he was the inspector, not our newest Squad member." Zardra says She stretches with a yawn, before resting her head on her forepaws like a massive lion. "But I suppose he told the King about our only having six Warbred, and sent the twins and the elder with them. Kyradon is... anxious. He pretends not to be, but he's settled in here. We've come to enjoy his presence in the years he's been with us." Kyradon stretches as well, calmed by the bulk of the two younger Warbred beside him, before resting his own head on his forepaws to close his eyes. They're all tired. Thane is sore from his failed hunt, and Zardra's a little disheartened. Introducing, the elder, Kyradon! He's available for asks! He has some interesting secrets to his background. He's a bit anxious and jumpy, but he's doing quite well with Zardra's Squadron. They accept him despite his anxious nature. Having an elder around has a calming effect on younger Warbred. He's their squad's Emotional Support Geezer xD

Thane is a soldier, not a hunter! This particular Buffalo Beetle has escaped with its life, Thane a bit bruised and embarrassed by his failure. It looks like another night of a small bit of their stew. The whole pack is hungry, but the more frustrated they get, the more clumsy they get in hunting. They have tivik back at the outpost, but tivik are small, and the eggs they produce are definitely helpful for protein. Eating the tivik would mean no more eggs. There's enough for each of the Warbred to have a couple eggs and a little of their stew.

((Character interactions are open if you wanna send your character over to greet the Warbred! They’re a friendly bunch, if your character is from a different world or something they aren’t used to, they’ll likely be curious. They are only hostile if attacked first. They may be running out of food because of the lack of shipments from the Capitol lately, but they’ll still invite you to sit and eat with them from their perpetual stew.))

The Warbred stationed at the outpost are tasked with running patrols and helping to turn away threats. The twins are the scouts, with incredible stamina and speed. They run further than any other Warbred, and scout out further. If a threat does attack their outpost, the Twins are the ones who are to rush that information back to the Capitol, as they can make the run in as little as a day without tiring, while the other Warbred would take longer. They generally keep their section of Reinvari's border secure and keep out unwanted intrusions by the kingdom commonly referred to as the Gladiator Kingdom, one of Reinvari's enemies.

Not much happens where they are, though they have suffered a few losses. The twins, Ariki and Areto, in fact, were sent as replacements for two Warbred who died a few years before; Khiran and Raela. Khiran is for sure dead, though they aren't so sure about Raela. No body was found, and Zardra is very hopeful that Raela is out there somewhere and will find her way back to them. Because the twins are new to the Outpost, it took the others a bit to warm up to them, but they have settled in nicely. They're still the lowest ranking members of the Squad. With the shortage on food, the twins are working on trying to hunt. They may be fast, but they aren't very good at hunting, and aren't the best at making sharp turns.

Tezoka is a little troublemaker... and Thane is having to bring him back yet again. Tezoka is very much living up to his name! He's a hyper, excitable little thing! There's been some worry in the Outpost, though. Relief, but a little worry. Their yearly inspection never came. Which meant hiding Tezoka from the King is a lot easier. Hybrids are strictly forbidden. Thane knows that if it was caught, he'd probably be culled, and Zardra would be harshly punished. They had a contingency plan, somebody to watch the nymph for a few days during the inspection, but now they have to be on edge each day. And it's now almost time for the next inspection. The worrying thing is their supplies are not being shipped in, and the Warbred's army rations are running out. They aren't eating enough because they have to stretch them out, and without the coin that is regularly shipped in from the Capitol for their upkeep, they can't really buy stuff from the local town. They were trained to be soldiers, not hunters. They would hunt sometimes when bored, but none of them actually really knew how to consistently stalk and run down prey! Which is making things even more difficult. This us causing some stress among the Squadron. Zardra is starting to get worried, because they seem to have been forgotten by the Capitol. She doesn't want her Squadron to suffer. Like any pack leader, she wants to look out for her pack.

The twins! The dorkiest twins! Ariki and Areto! They are a good example of how a Warbred's hormone balance can effect their appearance. Warbred are all hermaphrodites, but their hormone balance follows their identity. This means that feminine Warbred that prefer to present as more feminine, will actually have this shift in their hormone balance. This cases the hips to be slightly wider and slightly softer features. Masculine Warbred will get more masculine hormones in their balance, and this will broaden the snout and shoulders a bit. It'll also effect their voice. Ariki's is softer than Areto's, though they both have that growly Warbred voice going. Ariki and Areto are identical twins, but Ariki (The first one) prefers to identify as female and Areto (The second one) prefers to identify as male. They are from the Speedy lineage, and are pretty decent examples of their kind. They are always racing about, full of energy and excitable. The youngest among the outpost. The greenhorns. They wear a green ribbon on opposite horns to make it a little easier to tell who is who... though, they still get confused for eachother constantly despite that! They don't mind. They find it amusing!

Laran and Adjani. Laran is more of a scout, Adjani is attentive, and can be friendly though she tends to be serious. Laran is one of the Speedy bodytype. Adjani Average, though she has some Brute in her lineage. Laran is incredibly quick and has incredible stamina. Laran is calmer, and tends to look at everything logically.

Finn and Khalon! Not shown with their cloaks. Khalon likes wearing an indigo cloak, long and silken and flowing. Finn tends to wear a dark blue cloak. Finn is a Brute type, large and powerful, but sweet. Khalon is somewhere between Speedy and Average, from Vherra's lineage. He displays the iconic downpointed cheek horns common in Vherra's lineage. Khalon has a huge crush on Finn, but doesn't quite realize it and Finn is... Finn, and completely oblivious. He quite likes Khalon, though! But like Khalon, he is rather clueless to feelings. Warbred are raised as soldiers, after all... These two often work together. Finn is the dumb muscle (Who is a total history nerd and loves to explore) and Khalon is quick and attentive.

All Caught Up!

Coming next will be rundowns for the Warbred that live at the outpost, and maybe new quick refs for them when I have the time! The characters in this blog are Commander Zardra Her Second in Command, Thane Ariki and Areto, the greenhorn twins, newest members of the squad Laran, Adjani, Finn and Khalon Meyrin, and his adopted daughter Malina Tezoka, the surprise child between Thane and Meyrin Kyradon, the squad’s Emotional Support Geezer. An elder stationed with them due to elder warbred’s calming effect on younger warbred. ALL of them re askable!

In the time that has passed since we last checked in on the Outpost and the Warbred (And Dreameater) within, Meyrin laid the egg! It was big, and the labor was rough but he got through it just fine, and after another few months, it hatched into a healthy nymph. The little bundle of trouble is named Tezoka, meaning “Trouble” and he’s full of energy and has a huge sweet tooth, and always running off at every opportunity and stealing any sweet thing he can get his little claws on. Meyrin and Thane haven’t had a full sleep since the egg hatched, and they are both tired, even with the rest of the pack helping!

Tezoka prefers beast form, and even a couple weeks old, he’s already grown a bit and is already getting chubby!
