I remember reading a study where researchers realized that female birds of a certain species preferred males with a darker breast. So they created what they literally called a “Super-Sexy Male” by catching a male and coloring his chest with a marker. They then ran dna tests on the eggs in the area.

Previously when the researchers had run these tests, they found a certain amount of infidelity was common for these birds. Somewhere around 10% of eggs were fathered by males who were not the primary mates of females.

After the advent of the Super Sexy Male, however, stuff got crazy in bird world. Infidelity skyrocketed, with upwards of 25% of ALL EGGS in the area being fathered by this specific male. Furthermore, his mate’s eggs were 100% his.

This is just insane to me. Just imagine you’re living your bird life when suddenly somebody scribbles on Dave’s chest and the ladies can’t stop throwing themselves at them. It’s stupid that we theoretically can wreck this kind of havoc on an ecosystem.

I think:

"Gooseworx has a history of offensive behavior that she has yet to address, and she absolutely deserves criticism for it", and "Transmisogyny has inflated the amount of hate and backlash Gooseworx has faced, as cis men (and cis women, though less commonly) who have done similar (and sometimes worse) things consistently face less severe backlash" are opinions that can (and should) co-exist.

I hope I phrased this coherently. She absolutely deserves to be called out on her racist and misogynistic behavior, especially since she has yet to properly address it. But transmisogyny is also heavily affecting the amount of backlash she's getting.

I'm white and not affected by transmisogyny, so if you're more versed on these subjects feel free to add your own thoughts.

The survey was asking why I left premium and what it would take for me to pruchase premium again.

For full transparency, I had premium at the beginning because I didn't want Tumblr to die, and I liked it being ad free. As soon as everything came out about PhotoMatt's transphobia and the Tumblr Moderation Team's inherent biases, I left the program- let tumblr die for all I care.

If you also recieved this email, I am pleading with you to take the survey and fill in any optional text boxes with the fact that you will not return to tumblr premium unless the CEO is removed and Tumblr makes actionable plans to remove Transphobia from their policies.

apparently a transfem student at a Florida university was tased, pepper sprayed, and arrested by a police officer, threatened with being Baker Act'd (forced institutionalization). the vast majority of articles on this right now are implicitly or explicitly mocking her for having a "tantrum" and so i do not know the extent of the actual situation but i wanted to make people aware.

from this article which seemed to suck the least (unsure if this is the name she actually uses or a deadname; if it is i will remove it from this post):

The encounter took place in 2025 after the University of Central Florida police responded to a report involving a possible vehicle theft. Although Jarrett Preston Vick, who reportedly uses she/her pronouns, was not accused of stealing a vehicle, she became involved in the police interaction and grew visibly distressed after officers referred to her using male pronouns. In the footage, shared by Inside The Blue TV on YouTube, Vick repeatedly asked officers to address her correctly, saying, “She! She! Just say the right pronoun.” “Josh, can you please just tell them to use the right pronouns? Please. You know, it’s causing me a lot of distress.” Josh, identified as a university employee who briefly appeared in the clip, attempted to calm the situation as the exchange continued. At another point, Vick shouted, “Why do you let those kids get away with this? They are not supposed to be here.” One responding officer warned that if Jarrett did not lower her voice, she could be placed in handcuffs and taken for evaluation under Florida’s Baker Act. The confrontation continued to escalate before officers ultimately detained and handcuffed Vick. Notably, her arrest records list her as male. According to court records, the confrontation resulted in her being charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, a third-degree felony, along with misdemeanor counts of resisting an officer without violence and disorderly conduct. She formally pleaded not guilty to all charges on March 27, 2025. Bodycam shows UCF student repeatedly screaming “Don’t say him! Say she!” during a stolen vehicle investigation—then getting pepper-sprayed and arrested.

trans people's distress is always treated as a combination of male violence and female hysteria. this is patriarchal state violence in action. people fixate on the trans person's "unreasonable" distress and not that the officer was actively continuing to fuck with her until she lashed out.

i hope she's okay & if anyone is able to find ways to support her socially or financially, or any better information, please share. this happened in 2025 but the video is going viral now because it was posted on Youtube, and the criminal case is ongoing.
