People are going to judge you anyway. People will judge you for literally anything. Bad hair day? Shirt they don't like? Sitting weird? Doing literally nothing but standing there? Someone out there will be judgy about it, but most of the time, that judgy stranger is in your head, not out there. People, on average, are kinder than you'd expect.

Do you want to let the imaginary judge control your every move? Do you want to suffer for their benefit? Does listening to them actually help you live a life that you find rewarding, happy, and comfortable, or does it push you further away from yourself? If the judge didn't exist, what would you let yourself do? Why are you letting the judge stop you? Is that reason actually worth it?

(And if the judge is literal: what are they afraid would happen if they let you do it? What can you do to help them feel safe and respect their needs so they can respect yours in turn?)

But yes, some people will judge you overtly. Some might even be mean to your face. It sucks, it hurts, it's scary. But it's also one thing: honest. That person is telling you exactly what they think. That's a gift. They've just let you know, "this person is not my friend." It tells you that they're not worth your time, and you can disregard their opinion and move on with whatever makes you happy/comfortable/alive.

You're right if a jerk makes you angry or upset or uneasy. That means it's time to ditch them and go find someone kinder (and if you can't, then it's a cue to either find a way out or derail them off the hate- we once got a homophobe off our case by insistently talking about home aquarium care until they ran with the topic change).

But, most importantly: You'll never find the people who love you as you are if you spend all your time trying to be perfectly palatable. Hiding and people pleasing and burying yourself and your needs away doesn't attract the kind of friends who will change your life for the better. That attracts people who see you trying to please them and use it at your expense. And it destroys you from the inside out in the process.

Give your people a chance to see you.

last two are olddd... also gonna yap about moe's scars below since this is the first time i've shown them:

as with many folks my moe's got burn scars on her extremeties! in case ur wondering what's up with the dark gradient it's the same thing as ze's hat shadow, being a side effect of the eyes / down under... they'd probably be a point of shame for her so i thought it'd fit for the eyes mark to show up there... but since she covers them already it also means it's less noticeable than ze's or micha's changes realistically she'd still be covering them soooo top pic is non-canon or future canon where they're all a little more comfortable and open :) OH ALSO she still keeps the gloves on because her hands are heavily scarred and probably damage and dry easily... this is me projecting (although for me it's eczema and not scars but similar principle i think?) thank you for letting me ramble about designs have a good day

— Examples:

1. Someone who gives identities to their intense emotions.

2. Someone who creates different identities for themselves to cope with depersonolization/emotional amnesia.

(obviously, there are more ways to use this term, these are just two of many examples.)

— Terminology:

1. Copesplit: Similar to "system", "Collective", etc. (Ex. "I am a copesplit!" instead of something like "i am plural!")

2. Persona: What the different identities are called.

3. Switch: Self-explanatory.

4. Mask/Masking: Similar to Front and Fronting. (Ex. "Im masking as Alyssa" instead of "Alyssa is fronting"), but you wouldn't say "Im masking as [Core]" since, theres no-one to mask as.

5. Core: Similar to Host, the one who isnt a Persona. (Ex. Someone who gives identities to their intense emotions, when not experiencing any intense emotions they are the Core.)

(You can replace any terms on this list, these aren't terms you NEED to use.)

— Extra notes:

1. This is not the same as willomancy, tulpamancy, etc. As it does not involve actually creating seperate alters/headmates/personalities/etc.

2. This isnt an excuse to not take accountability for your actions, you control anything your personas do, since you ARE them.

3. i made this term because copeID was created by an anti-endo and only fit for one specific experience, so i decided to create a term that applies to multiple experiences.

4. this term isn't inherently plural, but was made with plurality in mind. You can use it whether you identify as plural or not though.
