Alone

I am alone today.

You graced me with your presence but it’s been 3 hours since your words have hit my eyes.

I am adrift without your words as my antihistamine. I am spinning in a tornado. Toto without an owner.

Every notification is a hope. Every vibration a chance. It’s never you tonight.

I sit here alone in this coffee shop.

Savouring the heart in my cup

They way I would savour yours

So fragile and delicate

Your heart is to be sipped

While mine lasted an instant

Drank by the likes of builders

Who catcall outside

Gulped down without a thought

But yours

Yours is the first flower of spring

The drop of due atop a blade of grass

A quiet snowflake adrift in the breeze.

I covet this pretty little thing.

Though it is not mine.

Daily Visit

I remembered the taste of your lips this morning. The sudden rush of pleasure dampened by losses grip around my chest.

I felt your hand in mine last night. So sweet and warm, not like any ghost I’ve ever felt.

Your hair will tickle my neck tomorrow, as your absent head lays on my shoulder. A promise of more heartache.

I am pining in a forest 2000 kilometres long, waiting for your ghosts daily visit.

Bring me back to those moments, it’s worth the pain, to relive the sensation of you. If only for an instant.

If I ever knit, tat, or crochet something for you, just know that not only are you getting the item I made, you are also getting a piece of me. I mean that in the grandiose metaphorical sense and, unfortunately, also very literally. I apologize for the hair.

Not an ask… about your quilting ruler situation- do you know anyone with a 3D printer? I just totally spaced what they are called. You could have them print you a square in the size you need. My nephew does custom shapes for me sometimes.

Do you have the really thin cutting mats where you are, the floppy plastic kind that are somewhat see through? Or a craft store that sells stiff plastic sheets. Or a report cover that has clear covers. You could use your mat there to help you draw out the size you need, cut it out, and use it as a template to square up with your existing ruler.

You could fold your square and use your existing ruler to square up, depending on what size your block is.

Where I live, home improvement stores sell plexiglass, and will cut it to size for you. One sheet of that could get you a ton of squares and sizes.

I am guessing b/c you said the euro store, you are in a European country? It is really late here- in the morning I will try to grab some pictures to show you what I mean, since knowing what I am thinking and getting other people to know that also can be hard.

Also, if none of the makes sense and you want to talk it out sometime, I am happy to share my WhatsApp. I am pretty passionate about quilting and helping other people get passionate about it too!

Omg that is a BRILLIANT IDEA! Right now it’s me, a brother sewing machine, and a prayer to the sewing gods.

Folding the square and then squaring it up (ignoring the seem) never occurred to me but that is so smart!

Yeah I live in Ireland so plexiglass would be hard to get outside of like a building shop. But the see through folder covers are much more wildly available so that could really work!

The actual quilting rulers get pretty expensive here. I did price them and a 6.5” square is €19 (22.20 usd)

I will give some suggestions a try and update soon!
