The story-line of the Cyberpunk 2077 game begins in 1990 with an alternate timeline where all of the world's superpowers were destroyed by a world war and several isolated administrations called Mega Corporations were born. They are busy arguing about how one party will be at the pinnacle of power over the other. Meanwhile, a terrible famine has come down on the earth due to the plague of crops. In the aftermath of the war, the Middle East became a radioactive region. Bio-engineering, invented for the needs of war had created a very evil side-effect. Cybernetics, artificial limbs, machines and human interfaces, etc., are advancing at a rapid pace. As there is no central system of governance, anarchy is going on everywhere. In addition, another problem has arisen called 'TechnoShock' - a significant portion of people are unable to adapt to the world of artificial muscles, tissues, biological circuits and designer drugs.
