My internal struggle about coming out:
… I think the Simpsons movie just taught me that stressing over deciding to come out or stay closeted is going to result in me getting squished by a giant glass dome…

#this is literally how being nonbinary is
Imagine explaining non-binary genders like this though, “Okay so you know how a spork is like a spoon, and also a fork, while also being neither? I am the spork of humanity. I have a spork gender.”
Trying to find gender neutral restrooms is like trying to find the room of requirement.
I spent so long asking “am I *really* trans?” and getting nowhere
Everything changed once I started asking “what do I need?”
“But they isn’t grammatically correct.”
When a friend who has been using your correct pronouns consistently for a month suddenly starts slipping up again:
Out in public when you get looks from people...
When you come out people who just don’t quite get it:
Waiting for a response to a coming out letter like:
Trying to figure out who to come out to next...
Sometimes it’s not the people who change, it’s the mask that falls off.

trans people are like hobbits
me: well I am going through puberty
Cis person: puberty? Didnt you already go through that?
Me: that was first puberty. This is second puberty
Cis person: second puberty?
Other trans person: I don't think they know about second puberty
thank the gods for trans hotlines.
I’ve talked to three of them before and they’ve all given me the best advice. You all saved me from hella darkness. I love you all.
The only thing that makes me sad is I wish I could meet them all.

I will add these to the helplines page on tuesday when I can get on the computer again. Does anyone know of any more for other countries?
That awkward queer moment when...
People say things that are well intended, but it comes out problematic or invalidating towards other identities.... like calling marriage equality gay marriage or reinforcing the gender binary.... and you just have to sort of sit there like:
Why is transition so hard? I'm 54 and confused. Thank my therapist for being there
Its hard because it takes a lot break free of years of an illusion that we have believed. Its hard because being true to yourself in a world that isn’t necessarily understanding, takes a lot of maturity, bravery, and courage. Its hard because it even takes adjusting to and accepting internally. Its hard for a lot of reasons.
But no one ever said life was going to be easy. But hard, doesn’t mean impossible. Hard just means its going to take a lot inner strength and patience to be authentic. And its up to each individual, if showing that aspect of themselves to the world is something they need to do.
I think most people struggle with showing who they really are to others, regardless of gender, but being transgender that, for many of us, forces us to have to show the world who we really are in order to be comfortable with ourselves and feel like our identity and the way we are treated align.
And having to expose our identity in world that isn’t always accepting, is a terrifying thing to do. But its okay to be afraid. Its okay to be confused.
I’ll end this with one of my favorite quotes from Doctor Who “Courage isn’t just a matter of not being frightened, you know. It’s being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway.”
That trans women moment when...
You want to cosplay like ten different girl characters, but you’re not pretty or feminine enough to avoid looking like “that guy at the con who’s broad and hairy and looks ridiculous in a dress”.
