I just think if people actually listened with more than just their ears to what the teachers say they would be a lot happier in class. Which one is your favorite?
"It’s 7th year, I kinda expected it. I mean, we have to get prepped for NEWTs somehow, and papers make you do your own research so hopefully you remember shit. It’s better than more tests or shit like that."
"Yeah that's true. More tests than we already have would be absolutely dreadful. I guess I don't mind the essays and such too much. Learning feeds you're sense of wonder after all."
"Thanks a million. You’re doing a great good by spreading the word." Jaq teased with a small laugh. "Who even cares enough to be talking about me, period? Huh? Oh, yeah! I’ve seen you around, for sure. I can’t believe this is the first time we’ve actually spoken."
She laughs, "Glad I could help better help educate other student's vocabulary. Aw, don't say that I'm sure lot's of people care enough to talk about you. Yeah it's pretty strange. Oh well, now we have!"
"Violet Parr. And I’ve got papers in Muggle Studies, Ancient Runes, Charms, and Potions."
"Nice to meet you, Violet! Wow that is a lot. Sometimes teachers don't realize that we need a break every once in a while."
"I know, it’s a pretty great saying. I’m trying my best to bring it back, you know." Jaq confirmed with a nod of his head. "Eh, no sweat. Hey, how’d you know? Last thing I want is a reputation."
"I'll make sure to spread the word." She chuckled, "Anything I did hear about you was all good, I promise. But that's not why I recognized you. We have some classes together, I guess we've just never talked before now."
"Hating people is exhausting. I don’t have the energy for that right now on top of four papers due within the next couple days, especially since I don’t know you that well."
"It's glad to see someone who thinks that way. I'm afraid not many people do anymore. What papers? Oh! My mistake, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm May Marian."
"What the - I mean I am, but that has nothing to do with you not hitting people with fireworks. That’s just being a not-shitty person. It’s not like it would be any better if you almost hit someone that wasn’t a prefect."
"I know! I'm not saying I wouldn't feel bad if I hit someone who wasn't a prefect. I would feel horrible! Never mind that. All I'm saying is I'm really sorry and really glad you're not one of those people who would completely just hate me afterwards.
Jaq brushed himself off and chuckled nervously. “I’m pretty sure. Like, I’m fine. Totally fine. Extra fine. Like wine, really.”
"Well I'm glad you're 'fine like wine'," she air quoted with a chuckle. "I really am sorry though."Hey you're Jaq right?"
"Uh-huh. Well, you should probably be more careful with fireworks from now on."
May chuckled. The way he was speaking he almost sounded like a teacher. "I know, I know. It was a bit of a adrenaline rush you have to admit, but I certainly would loath if someone got hurt because of me."
"No, I got out of the way. Why were you setting off a firecracker in a hallway?"
"Uh yeah, I didn't mean to do that. I kind of took one out of the box and didn't realize how quickly it would go off..."
Jaq flushed a deep red once he realized how foolish he must’ve looked. Taking the girl’s hand, he stood to his feet and brushed himself off. “Me? Pft, I’m fine. No biggie. Absolutely A okay.”
May chuckled at the boy's blush and his response. "Are you sure? That was a pretty grand face you pulled off."
"Yeah I’m fine, you got your warning off in time. But fuck, unintentional or not, don’t open those things in a hallway like this. You could hit a kid."
May looked at the girls robes just in time to see the prefect badge she hadn't noticed before. "Oh Merlin you're a prefect! I think I must have the worst luck in all of Hogwarts. I appreciate the warning though, thank you."
"Do you mind?"
"I'm so sorry about that, I didn't expect it to take off so fast... Are you alright?"
Kristoff was walking down the corridor when he heard the sound of a firecracker and a girl shouting. Quickly, he jumped aside to avoid the firecracker. “Hey, be careful, would you?”
"I'm sorry I'm sorry! It didn't hit you did it?" May said a bit in a panic, not fully seeing what happened.
Jaq had been strolling around the corridors aimlessly when he heard the wild warning from a voice not too far away. Hearing the pops and crackles ringing in his ear, he fell to the floor in a panic. “Those things are a danger to yourself and others!”
"Oh Merlin," May said while running up to the boy, politely gesturing a hand to help him off the ground. "I'm sorry! It was an accident! Are you okay?"
Violet was walking down the corridor, nose buried firmly in her book as she effectively dodged everyone in her path. But when she heard the voice, she slammed herself against the wall, only seeing the firework as it shot past her. “Fuck, what do you think you are doing?”
May immediately ran up to the girl pressed against the wall, "oh my gosh are you okay? I'm so sorry I've never lit one of those off before and that one was completely unintentional."
-watches at it whizzes by- Uh oh…
"Oh no!" she said as the firecracker zig-zagged into one of the painting, making the man in severely angry. "Sorry about that!" May called to the painted man before turning to the girl, "Are you alright?"
