three years ago i woulda lost my shit at sony yanking spider-man from the mcu but having seen what the mcu wants to do with that character it’s arguably worse than anything sony did with him.

one of the key elements in spider-man stories is how the decisions peter makes for his personal life and his superhero life overlap and crash into each other and usually end up with him getting in trouble but every time this happens to peter in the mcu it’s just fine 5 minutes later.

he ditches his classmates in DC but it’s fine

he leaves liz at the dance but it’s fine

aunt may finds out he’s spider-man but it’s fine

he leaves MJ at the opera but it’s fine

this is in such stark contrast to the raimi movies where peter constantly disappoints people and you FEEL it!!! it hurts!!! but you understand both sides of the argument!!! when peter has to stop bad guys on the way to see mary jane’s play you cheer him on but later realise BECAUSE of that, he’s late and can’t get in to see it. that’s the life HE chose and the storytelling is powerful because you really empathise with this guy who is stuck between his two lives

mcu peter faces no responsibility for his actions because now being a superhero is fun!! woo!!! i’m not gonna get in trouble for almost getting myself killed a lot! especially since one of my parental figures enabled me to do this and gave me a suit that can murder people and the other doesn’t even give a shit that i do this stuff!

Listen, yes of course Eddie Brock is an exceptional example of an alien fucker but I need everyone to understand that the symbiote is canonically from a planet where not only does everything reproduce asexually but the even idea of wanting any kind of relationship with a host was considered so insane and devious that the Venom symbiote was sentenced to death for it. And consider how weird a human must be to them. Humans are as much aliens to symbiotes as symbiotes are to humans.

What I’m saying is in terms of being an alien fucker, NOBODY beats the Venom Symbiote.
