Jacob and Mordin are right across the hall from each other. I imagine Mordin as the Kramer to Jacob's Seinfeld.

Dr. Chakwas being a neighbor to the one crewmate she isn't qualified to patch up.

Kasumi being the extrovert who drags introvert Thane out of the Life Support room to socialize.

Ken & Gabby being too scared to go to the sub-deck so Tali takes on those jobs, and thus starts her dynamic with Jack.
