Modern outsiders au, where Ponyboy and Sodapop are total screenagers (teenagers obsessed with screens), and unfortunately became brain rotted (by two-bit sending them dumb brainrot instagram reels and TikToks). Now Ponyboy and soda totally torture Darry with random references to brain rot and stuff lol.

(I also think Ponyboy would totally have a vlog channel, where he just kinda posts ab their daily life. Him and soda are always trying to teach Darry about trends and dances and stuff, while Darry just CANT figure any of it out lmao)

Ponyboy Sneaking Out

I like the idea of Ponyboy sneaking out to Charlies Bar without his gang knowing it exists. I know in cannon they know of his bar but an au where they didn’t?

It’s after the events in the Outsiders, so hear me out on this storyline.

Ponyboy sneaks out a lot during the night and it’s sadly incredibly easy for him to do. Mainly because he snuck out a time or two to see Dallas when he was alive and Dallas was a great teacher.

Ponyboy around two in the morning honestly just leaves through the front door, he has analyzed his brother’s sleep schedules, he knows when they sleep and when they are likely to wake at night.

The one time he was nearly caught because he heard Sodapop coming down the hallway he grabbed a book and pretended to be asleep on the couch to make it look like he snuck out of bed to read. Sodapop fell for it.

He goes to Charlies Bar where he’s always meeting up with people, rather it be for meeting up with friends to hang out, simply wanting a drink, or selling drugs out by the back of the bar because Tim or Curly are on thin ice with the law because of suspicions and need to lay low for a while.

Dally will just zone out and randomly say the most blunt, out of pocket shit. Like, Tim's holding him? "Your fingers are fat" in the most flat tone, completely out of nowhere, and he's just staring at Tim's fingers with big eyes. Buck is making breakfast? "That egg is shaped like Guinea" while staring at the egg in the pan with these wide eyes, thoughtless stare. Two-Bit's cracking jokes in the living room with the gang? "Your sideburns are more red than your hair" With that same big-eyed stare, like there isn't a thought behind those baby blues.
