@inkthealterhuman wanted me to talk about this! Honestly it gives me anxiety to because with my snow leopard theriotype I only get dream shifts but those are insanely rare so with void shifts i don't have anything to base it off of. Anyways, that's sorta why I never thought of this, but here we go!
So everyone has a wildly different interpretation of void it seems like. For me it's opposites being perfectly balanced, being eternal and just beginning, having just finished but also starting, it's this balance between all of that creating this power. Being able to balance that stuff has insane power and for something like us without an exact opposite it destroys us because that power remolds us to make an exact opposite and balance it out. It's really just a balance of exact opposites like I said but because of that there's nothing to comprehend since that's something our minds just can't, we aren't that advanced. So if we were to see, or walk into a void it'd be just emptiness, no colors, sounds, anything, which is still something we can't comprehend. Humans aren't at that point to understand it. ANYWAYS sorry about that rant, but it's necessary to describe this. For me my void shifts aren't a change in instincts, or anything like that. I mentally go to a place of nothingness, I don't have fear or happiness it's just nothing. I'm empty but also not? If I were to actually describe it it's almost like I was taken out of this world to a different dimension that isn't something humans can even comprehend. The feelings we get as voidkin are to intense for humans to ever even slightly understand. It's almost like someone you loved told you insanely bad news and good news at the same time but then that feeling is insanely strong, the feelings of disappointment and also happiness, both of them mix and create and undescribable feeling and it's too much. Literally after void shifts I can get panic attacks because it's something my mind isn't prepared for and also something I can't exactly understand. Voids go on infinitely, they last forever, a void can be anything, a feeling, an actual place, anything but we don't experience them like that. Our brains just aren't wired like that and considering the void is first of all a concept and second of all something we can't prove during void shifts I sometimes feel like everything. By that I mean I feel like every animal, person, object. It's an insanely strong feeling of just being non existent in my world but also being everything in my world, and everything outside of my world to. That'd the best way I can explain it but like I've said the void isn't something made for humans to comprehend or understand.
