a shout out to the small baby child today who was demanding liberation from her stroller but who, when asked if she would stay close to mama and not run around acting crazy, paused for a moment to contemplate the question and then answered "prob'ly no"
it cost you your freedom, small child, but i admire your integrity and honesty đ

I love how the critical role pc design has got increasingly unhinged since campaign one
campaign one they were like 'sure we have a bear with us most of the time and goliaths aren't very common but you could pass most of us in the street without doing a double-take'
campaign two it was more like 'okay why don't we push the boat out a little? have a little fun with it? let's try some less common races. let's play with the colour palette. let's be blue, purple, pink, green - stand out a little'
but campaign three they went 'I want to be the only person like me that even exists on this plane. fuck it, I'm a giant fae goat lady. I'm a sleep paralysis demon. I'm a sentient robot. I want to know for SURE that everywhere I go people actively stop and stare. strangers will tell their grandchildren about me. there will be no going incognito'
I think Liam is now the only player who has consistently played a character who could walk into a bar, have a chat with the server, and feel assured that that person would have forgotten about him by the end of the week. king of Just A Guy With A Cute Lil Outfit

in honor of season 3 of game changer airing, iâve clipped brennanâs fully buckwild monologue from the final episode of season 2
This whole episode is amazing because you watch Brenan, who has arguably won the most games of any College Humor cast member and is quite intelligent, lose his fucking mind as he fails to guess âyes or noâ correctly to every question. It gets funnier as Zac and Ally got crowns for figuring the game out first.
And, yes, the premise of the game was âguess yes or no and if youâre answer matches Brenan, youâre wrong because Brenan can not win.â
This is what got me to buy a subscription⌠Iâll be very honest. This and escape from the bloodkeep.
He is 100% morally right to do this. Not to make a funny cool video into a âtopicâ but how about we start talking more about how tow companies are part of a predatory system in which trivial errors are given harsh legal penalties for the sole purpose of generating money? Sometimes not even errors on your part. Your car could break down or get wrecked and you still have to pay impound fees if you canât get back to it fast enough. Your car can get STOLEN BY CAR THIEVES and you still have to pay impound fees. You could be driving, suffer a heart attack or stroke, have to abandon your vehicle to go to the hospital and have to pay impound fees. You could park legally, get injured or mugged or lost or otherwise unable to get back to your car before the parking expires and have to pay impound fees. You could DIE while youâre out with your car and your family will have to pay impound fees.
The fees start in the hundreds and increase every day the car isnât retrieved. This can take away someoneâs only mode of transportation and cost them their entire job and ability to live. Maybe forty or fifty years ago anybody with a car could be reasonably assumed to have some savings or a friend or family who could help with this and it was just a âdarn it! My poor wallet! Aw man!â situation but today itâs more often a âguess I need to beg for public donations or kill myselfâ situation.
My husbandâs car was stolen. We reported it to the police, the insurance company gave us appropriate compensation, we went and bought a new one.
29 days after the theft, we got a phone call from a tow company. They had found the car abandoned in the side of the road a DAY after it was stolen, impounded it, and started racking up fees. Theyâre legally required to contact the owner within 30 days, so thatâs what they were doing.
We were stumped, so we called the insurance company and asked them what we should do. They said, âLet us handle it.â
They wound up having to pay the tow company TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS.
One of my coffee shop co-workers got arrested at work once, she ended up having to spend three days in the county jail (unpaid traffic tickets leading to a suspended license; getting pulled over on a suspended license that she didnât know had been suspended leading to being charged with a misdemeanor; failure to appear leading to a bench warrant; and this is how you end up in jail for one traffic ticket the system is abusive and targets the poor). A dipshit small-town cop was cruising around behind businesses and scanning license plates to see if he could get his quota up.
When the cops put her in the back of their car they started to call the tow company at which point my boss was like â????? Why? Sheâs in my parking lot? The car can stay.â
The cop was like âwell, she doesnât have a right to leave her car here so weâre going to tow it, sheâs getting arrested, she has to deal with the consequencesâ
And thankfully (in this situation) my boss was an asshole and he was like âLook, man, I give free coffee to everyone who matters in town, the city council likes me more than they like you, the police chief knows me better than she knows you, if you bring a tow truck into my lot to take this car when I, the business owner, have not called to have a car towed and she, the car owner, has not called for a tow Iâm going to go to walk into your station and file a report for grand theft auto.â
My boss ended up actually taking her keys and driving the car back to her apartment, which is good because the dipshit cop showed up at the end of my shift to hassle me about âloiteringâ in the back of the coffee shop where Iâd just locked up and blocked me in with his cruiser asking where the other car had gone because he was going to have it towed.
We did the math on it and if our boss hadnât prevented the tow it would have cost over $900 in impound fees for the 3 days sheâd spend in jail. At that point minimum wage was $8/hr and we made *a tiny bit* more than that so basically it would have cost this girl over a hundred hours (nearly three weeks worth of work with the way our hours shook out at the coffee shop) to get her car back.
Anyway that same year the cops in that city towed a car to the city yard, opened up the hatchback, and shot a guy who had been sleeping in his car:
Also in 2009, Â at Approximately 3:30 a.m. Jan 30, a Sierra Madre police officer discovered a Nissan SUV within the city that had been reported stolen. The Nissan was towed back to the rear of the police station on Sierra Madre Blvd. To their surprise officers opened the hatchback of the SUV and found a man in the vehicleâs cargo area where he had allegedly been sleeping under a blanket. Why the officer(s) didnât see the individual before the car was towed has been the subject of much speculation and supposition. 46-year-old Jason Jensen, had allegedly been living in the car that had been reported as stolen . SMPDâs Amos then shot Jensen with a single round to the upper torso. The internal investigation was completed and placed Amos is back on duty.Â
(the car wasnât actually stolen, there was an ownership conflict and it had been reported stolen by a co-owner, not that sleeping in a stolen car justifies getting shot by the goddamned cops)
So, you know, fuck the police.
And look, Iâm a reasonable person, I understand that sometimes someone blocks you in and needs to be towed, thatâs an actual matter of public safety; I get that when someone is in an accident there has to be a place to put the car until theyâre able to claim it.
But if youâre saying it costs more per day to maintain the space and insurance for a car in an impound lot than it costs for me to stay in The fucking Roosevelt then I say youâre a liar and an extortionate thief, you bloodsucking parasites.
Anyway, if you live in California call your representative about Assembly Bill 516, which would make it harder for police to tow cars.
the video at the top is also a perfect example of direct action and refusing to recognize the false legitimacy that the state claims to have. towing and impounding someoneâs car without their consent is, like @ms-demeanor âs boss said, literally grand theft auto. this is a direct act of violence being committed against a human being and the fact that the state tells us that they are allowed to do whatever they want and nobody is allowed to stop them is a crime against humanity.
resisting authority doesnât just mean scorning your parents, swearing in school, and messing with cultural norms, it also means recognizing that the state is an armed faction who claim that theyâre in charge just because they say so. itâs no fucking different from the divine right of kings, except they added in a few bells and whistles to make us think weâre free and theyâre accountable to us. theyâre not.
resist. destroy the state. uplift humanity.
As close as you will ever be to a nuclear explosion
THIS IS FUCKING TERRIFYING
No thank you.
The columns of smoke in the foreground are telephone poles boiling
This is way cooler to look at than it should be
Science side of Tumblr would like to add:
Heat is generally transmitted in 3 forms: conduction, convection, radiation.
The fact that the telephone poles and wires are boiling away well before the shockwave hits them indicates that the heat from the explosion has not reached them by convection (much slower than the speed of sound) or by conduction (at best, comparable to the speed of sound), but purely by radiation. In other words: the explosion is bright enough to boil everything.
reblogging again for what engineerâcat said

Most classroom practice is astrology.
