Miles Morales x GN!Reader
WARNINGS/TAGS: reader is referred to as [name], and they/them is used. no big warnings except a very small bit of violence (fighting, superhero stuff) and language. spidersenses go off like they did when Miles met spider-byte. mention of Gwen and Hobie, small amount of Pavitr. implied friendship between reader and Hobie. also me struggling to write spanish a bit.
Today was just… Amazing. Miles had known that other spiders existed, he just hadn’t thought he’d get along with these two so well. Pav? His web was some type of combat yoyo thing. And Hobie? He used his guitar to fight!
And Gwen, well, seeing her again was really nice.
That’s not the focus. That spot villain had just gone through the Alchemax Super Collider a few minutes prior. It took a bit to make sure everyone was alright and the damage that was done wouldn’t cause greater harm.
Miles was so proud of himself. He had just saved two lives! Not like it was the first time, but it gave him something to bloat about after Gwen had said “he would get hurt” and that “it was to dangerous”.
Correction, it would’ve given him something to bloat about. Gwen was all stressed and she kept hitting that watch that was apparently too delicate. She was telling Pavitr about how she only had “one more chance to get this anomaly.”
“Miles?” She turned her head, looking at him. Her breathing was sharp in a way that he had never seen before, from her or anyone. “We have to move. Fast.”
Miles huffed, raising his eyebrows as some other spiders, ones that looked older, came out of one of those orange portal things and went down to the hole of alchemax. “To where?”
“Looks like to earth 1218. The most confusin’ universe recently.” Hobie smirked, cocking his eyebrows under the mask. He was huddled next to Gwen, looking at the watch from over her shoulder. “It’s been a while since i’ve visited [name].”
“Who’s [name]?” Miles was looking around at all of them but none of them replied, all just focusing on the opening that was starting. Even though he wasn’t answered, he stepped forward anyway.
Pavitr nodded them off as he went to the edge of the broken bridge, admiring (or rather worrying) about the rip.
Gwen opened a portal with her watch, and Hobie immediately jumped in.
Being thrown into this new world, Miles already noticed how bland it was. It looked relatively similar to what his own universe looked like, but less colorful. Him, Hobie, and Gwen all landed on a roof of what looked like a hotel.
“Who are we looking for? Besides the cow,” Miles tried to joke as he always did. It didn’t seem to land this time.
“[name].” Hobie replies, standing with his hands on his hips. All of the sudden, there were screams off in the distance. And based on the previous interactions between citizens and The Spot in all the other universes? That seemed to be their giveaway that he’s here.
Gwen moved immediately, jumping off the roof and swinging between buildings. Hobie followed, swinging his guitar to his back as he threaded the needle. Then? Miles, right after.
“Will someone answer me? Or at least talk?!” Miles yelled over the sound of the rushing wind.
Gwen turned her body, still swinging fast above the road below them. Weirdly enough, cars swerved almost as if they had never seen spidermen before. And spiderwomen. “Like Hobie said. [name].”
“Yeah, who?!” Miles pulled up his mask to reveal his mouth, now only swinging from his left arm. “Who is [name], that’s what I’m asking!”
Almost as if it was a movie scene, [name] got thrown through one of the black holes that the supervillain could spawn.
“Damn…” They muttered, slowly sliding down the wall they had just been slammed into.
Gwen cut her web short and landed onto the sidewalk, “Perfect timing.”
Both Hobie and Miles landed on either side of her. Miles did a quick spin around. There were people either running, freezing, or pulling out their phones to film. That was really weird.
“You see, this earth wasn’t supposed to have a spider. Goes against everything their laws of physics and nature says.” Hobie shrugged, laughing a bit as he saw how [name] groaned and slumped from the force.
“They’re like you.” Gwen interrupted, inhaling deeply before continuing again, “They got bit by a spider from another verse.. they were never supposed to be this.”
Across the road, there [name] was, standing up as their legs wobbled. “Fuck me…”
Miles took off his whole mask now, blinking as he looked at them. Their suit? Amazing. Their body? Woah. Their voice? Hostia…
“So yeah, they’re still getting use to the whole thing.” Gwen finished her explanation just as The Spot scored another hit against [name]. They caught the white skin and pulled him through the hole, making the criminal fall flat on the side walk. [name] quickly put web around him, the mask on their face scrunching up like eyebrows.
Both Hobie and Gwen jogged over, taking the situation into their own hands.
[name] rolled their eyes, almost in a way of saying “i could’ve gotten it just fine”. They crossed their arms just below their chest. “The pro’s got it. Good.”
That’s when they looked up.
The eye contact between Miles and them was magical. Miles’ spider senses went off like they never have before, buzzing around him, and in his head. A bit in his stomach, too..
“… Hey.” He said smoothly, too smoothly, that it was fake and awkward. God, I sound like my uncle…
“Hey.” [name] said back, almost just as awkward.
Even though the buzzing may have gone away in his head, it had stayed in his stomach. And it’s only going to get worse if [name] keeps walking closer.
“[name]. Yeah, I uh,” Miles cleared his throat even though it didn’t need to be cleared, maybe making this situation even worse than it would’ve been. “I caught up on that.”
He gave a smile that was way to big, and stuck out his hand. (what was this, a business meeting?) “Miles. Miles Morales.”
He forced the accent out on his last name, though why he wasn’t sure. “Im el hombre araña… er… Spiderman.”
[name] just nodded, almost laughing a bit. “Yes, I.. I see that. I am too.”
[name] took off their mask, and Miles felt dazed. That boy was smitten. He had forgotten all about the other spiders he had seen that day, and was focusing on this beautiful one right in front of him.
When he got home? He was definitely going to open a brand new sketchbook, just for [name]… he had to start a conversation.
“Uh… Why are so many people scared of us? Like, running and stuff?” Miles lifted his shoulders up to try and see all mighty, like he was intimidating as well.
“Oh, some people just aren’t use to the concept of powers yet.. They need to get with it, right? Guess not everyone has the brain complexity.”
“You’re so cool and cute.”
