Look, Marvel didn’t have to devote screen time to Bucky’s healing. They didn’t. They could have dethawed him in Infinity War without ceremony and given it a throwaway line about a fully successful deprogramming. They could have done that.  But they took actual screen time to show the transition—him waking up to curious and laughing children in a soft, peaceful, domestic setting. He steps out of the hut in loose-fitting robes (not binding leather), and there’s no sign of the metal arm. That weight is gone and he seems perfectly natural without it. He’s clean and he looks comfortable and at ease.  And Shuri asks him how he is.

And he says,  “Good. Thank you.”  … GOOD.  GOOD. THANK YOU. And Sebastian Fucking Stan delivered those lines like the knife to the heart he knew they were. He delivered them like he delivered, “I know. But I did it,” and “But I knew him.” 

No one else could have delivered those lines. Period.  And my heart is so full and happy for Bucky because this is the first peace he’s had since Zola got his hands on him in Azzano. For once, a scientist getting their hands on him meant that he was healed—he was put back together instead of being torn apart.

I hoped we’d have a scene like this at the end of the movie, but I didn’t even dare to dream it would be so soft and understated. At least for a little while, Bucky gets to be safe and whole. It’s such a gift.

More dwarves :B Just Thorin and Dwalin this time, though. I wanted to try  something where the main shapes were simplified and stylized (inspired by bridgioto’s Secret of Kells styled dwarves), but I wanted to try rendering within the stylized shapes to an extent. Simplifying the shapes while maintaining the general feel of the characters was really reeeeeally hard for me. I had to really fight with myself to not break up some of those big outlined curves, gah. 

I dunno. Fun experiment, anyway. :) 

edit: I probably won’t do many more. maaaaaaybe a Gandalf. Not sure.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is not what we thought it was. It’s been taken over by HYDRA. Alexander Pierce is their leader. The S.T.R.I.K.E. and Insight crew are HYDRA as well. I don’t know how many more, but I know they’re in the building. They could be standing right next to you. They almost have what they want. Absolute control. They shot Nick Fury. And it won’t end there. If you launch those helicarriers today, HYDRA will be able to kill anyone that stands in their way. Unless we stop them. I know I’m asking a lot. But the price of freedom is high. It always has been. And it’s a price I’m willing to pay. And if I’m the only one, then so be it. But I’m willing to bet I’m not.

Summary: Everyone lives AU//  You are a dwarrowdam of Ered Luin that arrives at Erebor with others of your kin half a year after BOTFA. You are an ordinary dam, eager to establish your new life under the mountain. Although you of course know Fili - he is the crown prince after all - and have seen him before, you have hardly ever talked. You wouldn’t have minded was it not that you had trouble keeping your eyes of him out of sudden and curiously enough Fili experiences a certain gravity towards you, that he cannot explain as your face seems of course familiar, but for some reason he had never paid you much attention before and doesn’t even know your name… Will your hearts reach one another in the newly prospering kingdom or will the obstacles of love, jealousy and the growing monarchy tear you apart?

The Celebration of Durin’s Day

Note: I’ll upload this chapter in two parts again, I hope you don’t mind. It’s Durin’s Day and everyone is celebrating! Something is bothering the young prince however…

For a few days all of Erebor was hustling and bustling with some kind of festive preparation, for Durin’s Day was approaching and a great feast was to be held. Everyone was looking forward to the grand celebration not only because it meant a reward for the hardships of the last decades, but also because, as hardworking and resilient as dwarves were, good food, music and celebration still played a major part in your culture, and even though you still grieved the loss of many, occasions to celebrate had been rare, hence any opportunity was gladly taken.
