The situation with Muller is really interesting. I think if you’re an expansion team you have to wait to take her regardless (the order of which team can select players makes this risky). Unless you're Sparre and you talk to her and she wants to come I wonder if we'll see her selected and then traded back during the draft for a big package. I don't think you can not select her with how good she is knowing you could get a historic trade package in return for trading her back if she really really doesn't want to come.
Going back to not knowing the order teams would select contracted players it makes it really difficult to not try to sign as many free agents as possible. Because what if you don’t sign a puck moving defender because you want Gosling but she gets picked by the team who selects before you. Can’t not sign a top center because you want to pick Muller. I think you have to try to sign 3-4 players and then pick best available from your list. You can’t rely on picking certain players while you make your FPO signings.
the last paragraph is a realllly good point. i think theres some players who will get selected no matter what because they're to good to say no two, but there really may only be like, 5 or 6 players who will get selected at the end of phase 2 before the next round of additional protection kicks in

Lydia Murray (Fleet reporter) is reporting that the Fleet will hire François Méthot as the next head coach. Currently, the GM and coach of the Rochester Jr. Americans in the NAHL (Tier 2 Junior league).
He is also part of their large youth development program in Rochester that has seen multiple PWHL players come through its ranks, including the Fleets' own Haley Winn.
The biggest drawback on his resume is the absence of professional coaching experience. Will success coaching in junior leagues translate to a professional league? I guess we will soon find out.
Fun fact! Méthot played in the DEL (German league) at the same time Kris Sparre did. They never played on the same team, but they likely played against each other multiple times.

This hands down the best comment in the notes, I will not be taking criticism.
The thing I hope for most during this season of expansion is that all players get to go to a team they want to go to or stay with the team they want to stay with. None of this forcing players to teams against their wills.
If this is the case, then I can make it through the heart ache of expansion. (My manta for the next couple weeks)
All the people wishing hoping and praying for the cats to not three-peat for "ethical" reasons this is obviously the much much much better outcome
once again so frustrating that k*nnedy is pretty much the only major/prolific reporter (of the ones who cover the PWHL consistently) who is willing to be critical of the league.
