I'm watching a reaction to the finale and this person's like 'why would you do the Stein thing' and I'm sorry, Armand doing little passive aggressive things throughout their relationship to drive Louis nuts is probably the most realistic thing about it.

Anyone who has spent time around couples that clearly fucking hate each other know how petty and passive aggressive they can be for the sake of antagonizing the other.

it really pisses me off when adults sit there and drill it into kids’ heads that their youth is fleeting and tell them things like “enjoy your childhood while it lasts because this is the best it’s gonna get”. why are you telling children that adulthood is the worst thing they can experience? seriously what the fuck is wrong with you, why are you trying to make them feel like growing up is a fate worse than death? trying to convince them their life is over before it even begins? i’m tired of that shit. because tell my why my 12 year old cousin told me when she turns 30 she’ll be so depressed she’s just gonna cry all the time. what the fuck. kids don’t need to hear that their already stressful and overwhelming lives are never going to get better, that the abuse and lack of autonomy they face is apparently the highlight of their lives. they need to hear about adults who are happy to be alive and happy to have made it to their age. they need to know that growing up rules, it’s a gift and life does not have to suck for them, that they have a future that’s worth sticking around for. this rhetoric is so damaging mentally and i’m about to start hitting the adults who parrot it. i’m sorry you hate your life but you don’t get to dump your issues on these kids. don’t piss me off and leave these babies alone!

Funny that the stereotypical cynic is an idealist who aged out of it. In my experience, the reverse is true. I was an extreme cynic as a teenager and then I noticed how profoundly limiting it was, and also that "cynics are cool and smart" was a message that was being constantly reinforced by corporate media for some reason.

we need to bring back public hatred for paparazzi. I’m so tired of actors defending themselves against assholes with cameras and being smeared as egotistical divas. they’re glorified stalkers who get paid to harass people. end of. the things these freaks get away with would send normal people to prison but we’re supposed to think it’s okay just bc they’re paparazzi. they SHOULD get shut down for being openly misogynistic. they SHOULD get told off and reported for following someone to their private residence to doxx them. they SHOULD face charges for just about running people over in their pursuit of the next hot celeb. this is not normal. and, actually, these people DO deserve to get punched sometimes.

Gonna point out something additional here that I think is important:

They don't have to be like this. They choose to be assholes.

Back in the 2000s, I was a Johnny Depp fan. (Before you come for me: I was sixteen and he was in his rehabilitated phase.) At the time his kids were little, and he didn't want them having to deal with being Johnny Depp's Kids. A fair and valid concern, I think.

So he basically made a deal with the paparazzi: I won't go nuts over your cameras as long as you don't photograph my kids. Try to snap my kids, and all bets are off.

And if you go back through photos of him from the 00s, you can count on your fingers how many times one of the kids is in said photos, and you can never see their faces. It's always either the backs of their heads or like, he's in front and you can just see a little leg walking alongside him. I had a Johnny Depp phase the way some teenagers have an Ariana Grande or Taylor Swift phase and I had no idea what his daughter looked like until she was almost an adult. He set a boundary, the paparazzi said "that seems reasonable," and they both got what they wanted.

Paparazzi could choose to limit themselves to red carpets, benefits, and--on the "sketchy but not completely abominable" side--stuff like "oh hey, check it out, Nick Jonas got peeped in line at this hot new club." They actively choose not to make that decision. Princess Diana died because they don't make that decision. Justin Bieber hit a kid with his car trying to get away from them because they don't make that decision.

TL;dr the original post is not virulent enough. FUCK the paparazzi.

There's a different species of barnacle, Sacculina, that parasitizes crabs in a similar way to this. It has a very cursed lifecycle and I assume the crab is also having a weird time.

I think i've heard of this one.

I just looked it up—it injects itself into the crab's body and replaces the crab's genitals with itself, grows roots into the crab's organs (including its brain), and controls the crab's behaviors so the crab will take care of the Sacculina larvae as a female crab would its own babies—if the crab is male, the Sacculina parasite will make the crab's body produce female hormones to basically change it to female.

This is so cool...how did this even develop? How did the parasite evolve to do that? How ancient would this relationship have to be for something so complex to form?
