Dune migration on Tatooine

In 1997 in the Tunisian desert, a series of structures were constructed which can be see in this image. These buildings were featured in the movie “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” as a major set, the birthplace of Darth Vader. These structures made up the city of Mos Espa, a spaceport on the planet of Tatooine and the home of Anakin and Shmi Skywalker.

Since the end of shooting in that movie, the sets have become tourist destinations and to some extent reverted back to nature. The buildings are still standing, but as you can see here, the Sahara desert has begun to retake the area.
