Aziz Ansari responds to Rupert Murdoch - Jan, 11, 2015
"You’re never too big to lose. You’re never too smart to lose. It happens, and you need to embrace those things."
This is I think one of the scariest things about life, this right here.
George Clooney married Amal Almuddin this year. Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case; was an adviser to Kofi Annan regarding Syria; and was selected for a three-person U.N. commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza Strip. So tonight… her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.

How to be a Reverse Racist
Happy 75th Anniversary to The Wizard of Oz! To celebrate, I present to you;
Movies in a Nutshell: The Wizard of Oz
Fucking perfect.
I’m trying hard to live by Cat Principles. 1- I am glorious above all things 2- Eat when hungry, sleep when sleepy, play when bored 3- Affection is given and received on my terms and only mine 4- Show displeasure clearly. 5- NO 6- Demand the things you want. If they aren’t given, demand them again, but louder this time. 7- If you are touched when you don’t want to be, say so. If they continue to touch you, make them bleed.
“Also, I felt a responsibility to Hannibal Lecter. Hannibal Lecter is not a Bryan Fuller character. It’s a Thomas Harris character, so I had to respect that I was raising somebody else’s child and not force my own ideals on them and let them be who they were intended to be by the person who created them. Does that make sense?” - Bryan Fuller

What is the best way to come to the attention of an organization like NPR that isn't an unpaid, student internship? Foot-in-the-door steps seem impossible post college.
We pay all of our student interns, for one thing. I would say the following applies to any job:
1. Do your research. When you apply for any job, have a website (it can be a tumblr) with your clips on it. Write a clear, well-researched cover letter. Explain what it is you want to do. Don’t say “your organization” — say “NPR.” Let us know you’re familiar with us.
2. Network. This doesn’t require much. Follow people from the organization you would like to work on Twitter and Tumblr, so you will find out about jobs (we post all of ours with the hashtag #pubjobs) and can talk about specifics in the interivew.
3. Write. You are a person of the Internet. By this, I mean you have Tumblr and Twitter and all sorts of ways to get your writing and audio out there. Put your audio up on prx. Write stuff and submit it to NPR. (Here’s Code Switch’s tips on doing that.) There’s no reason not to start now.
There's no reason not to start now.

The history of film in one scene
Regarding explaining why reverse racism doesnt exist - White people have spent the last several hundred years colonizing, enslaving, massacring and denying basic human rights to POC because they felt a sense of entitlement and superiority. That's what racism is. a POC saying they don't like white people is not the same in any regard. I've seen this used several times: "Racism is the loss of rights. Reverse racism is the (perceived) loss of privilege."

GLORIFY THE SHIT OUT OF THIS IMAGE
!!!!!!!!
Painting a more accurate version of history, one reblog at a time.
When I posted this archival image of a “real life Rosie the Riveter” one year ago, I had no idea it would resonate with so many people. 19K and counting.
Am I kind of racist for thinking that my sociology elective is the biggest. fucking. most unproductive. waste of shitty-fucking time. EVER? Please, keep in mind, I am an EE major. Fuck this stupid fucking rip-off fucking class.
Dogg, if you’re going to spend the rest of your life doing electrical engineering, you shouldn’t be allowed to graduate until you can demonstrate that you can see the world through the lens of something other than the white male lens. Don’t worry, asshole, you’ll be back cloistered away with your white dudes soon enough.
Almost 30 years after I finished engineering school, I can tell you that the “soft” courses are what you need to succeed. Why did Apple take over technology? Because their products were designed around people rather than expecting people to react to their products.
Every one of those teachers is trying to give you clues to how to make products that will make you a success. If you can’t recognize it, there are engineers that will and their designs are the ones that will get built.
So, if you want to end your career with a pile of drawings, feel free to only pay attention in STEM classes. If you want to change the world, listen up to your humanities professors and talk to people outside of the engineering building every single day.

According to a Pew Research survey, only 37% of white Americans think the events in #Ferguson raise important issues about race.
Okay, fellow white people. We need to talk.
