The Benefits of Neuroplasticity
Neuroplasticity also known as brain plasticity is the brain’s 🧠 ability to adapt. It does so by making changes in the brain while we learn through experience.
Did you know through neuroplasticity we can reinforce neural connections?
This is good news! Each time you think of a specific thought or emotion you strengthen 💪🏽neural connections that support it. Meaning you can reinforce positive thoughts and emotions while weakening negative ones. Small continuous changes will change how your brain works.
But how can you do this?
1. Combat 🤺 your intrusive thoughts. For every unwanted thought, think of three good ones. For example, if you catch yourself thinking you’re unattractive. Tell yourself, “My beauty is unique, I am vibrant, & I am confident”.
2. Learn new positive descriptive words 📝and incorporate it when you speak 🗣. This helps your brain access uplifting vocabulary that in turn will impact you for the better.
3. Train your brain to see 👀 the positive in each situation by changing your narrative. Ask yourself, “how can I interpret this differently”? For example, if a person cuts you off on the road and you think they are rude individuals who did it on purpose. You can change the narrative by considering that they might of had a hard shift at work and therefore they are distracted while driving.
4. Practice gratitude 🙏🏽! You can do this by expressing how thankful you are for the things and friends you have. For example, being thankful for the warm meal you had.
5. Enjoy 😊 the small moments. At times we focus so much on what upsets us. That se forget to see the good around us. We can be so focused on what we want that we don’t enjoy the little things. For example, your favorite song being played on the radio, or the beautiful bird singing in front of your house.
6. Watch funny 😆 videos or comedy movies. Read motivational stories from around the world. Clean out your social media from triggering or upsetting content. The more your brain observes positive and fun things. The better your thinking will be.
