kosa passed house, unfortunately. not the best news to hear

it isn't law yet, however. so don't freak out, yet. or at all because the best thing you can do is be calm. it still has to pass senate and that's a fact.

keep calling your reps... especially the ones who have voted specifically for the kids act + kosa. reminder that these aren't the only bad bills they're passing. i forget all of them (since they total as 19, i believe) but the screen act and appstore accountability act are especially alarming.

call, email, fax, and write to your senators! resources are right down below as usual for easy access! (badinternetbills provides you an email script and the names of senators. it's super easy, anyone can do it with just a few clicks. if you don't feel like calling you can wait until after hours and leave a voicemail. you can always write a letter, but i'd advise you do that immediately so it's seen as soon as possible!

and if you can't do any of those, it's okay. just keep spreading the word and not only on tumblr. make videos to post online and persuade family into contacting local congress as well (but be careful with who you tell, because they might just be in favor of these bills)

i've just been informed that the votes might be for "rule suspension." i'm hoping that's the case. otherwise, we haven't pressured them enough. but for now, i'll hold my tongue, and see what happens.

please do not panic yet. we still have the senate, and they have their own version of kosa, which the house doesn't seem to like.

as i feared, the kids act passed in the house with a vote of 267 > 117.

we still have a chance in the senate, but this means we need to pressure the senate more heavily than we did with the house.

i'm sorry for this bummer of an update, but we still have a fighting chance. it's not over yet.

i'll make some posts unrelated to kosa in a bit, and i'll be off of this blog until further notice.

as per usual, i've been shaking, and there has been a lot in my life that has stopped me from being active against these, but i'll still try to help in any way necessary. i hope that everyone here will be okay, and to now pressure the senate.

when they'll start to talk about kosa is undecided, but now that the time has passed, we should start pressuring early.

once again, thank you all for reading, and taking the time to help out with this. all of you have been amazing, and i can't thank any of y'all enough.

temporarily back to share these two. some people have been saying that the vote will happen on monday, despite no date being given. this could very well be another trick that congress decided to pull, because they hate their own people that much. they have done this before, but that's just my theory.

despite this, please continue calling your house representatives. and while you're at it, call your senators, too. just in case.
