Calling all horse, dog and other critter blogs! As I'm looking to gain more experience and acquire more examples of my acrylic paintings, I want to involve people whose animals have been bringing me joy for last few years. To do this, I'm offering 5 paintings for £20 each in UK, and £30 internationally* (and while I welcome any and all tips, I am not expecting them) The style I'm aiming for, is semi-realism, with bold and bright colours, that compliment your animal, yet keeping the result from looking "just like a photo" (we have photos for that) These are extremely discounted prices, that are supposed to cover price of canvas, paint, and shipping, so I am unlikely to offer the paintings again, at this cost. I am experienced in working from various references, be that multiple images or low quality pictures; to create a painting that will be a joy to look at, and reflect a character of your companion. Examples below are 9x12 inches (23x30cm) and I'm willing to go for slightly bigger or smaller paintings if needed for clarity, but this is the size that works extremely well for me.

These are stretched canvas with rigid backing, and come without a frame, with sides painted in complimentary colour so you can display it with, or without a frame.

The painting can be purchased for yourself, or as gifts for other people, as long as you can guarantee the necessary reference pictures will be provided, and that person receiving it will not be charged extra for the painting. Purchasing additional slots can be discussed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ideally, payments can be made through Etsy, bank transfer or ko-fi. I am not accepting paypal at this moment in time, but if this is the only option, or if you have option I have not outlined, please get in touch. * If shipping to your country is more costly than I am prepared to cover, you will be offered to pay the price that covers the shipping, but in most of the countries this should be enough. Any customs fees that might occur will be responsibility of the buyer.

four year glow up!!

on this day four years ago hugo had just had his third surgery in as many years; this one being his second ortho surgery in a row. like i say whenever i realise these milestones, and also regularly in general - he is super brave and i'm very proud of him. i hope he keeps on making the most out of those reinforced knees he worked hard for

I hate it when actors talk about an animal they had to work with on set and it’s obvious they were not patient with the animal at all. You especially see this with non cat people who had to work with cats and are like “Working with that cat was the bane of my existence, never on cue, scratched me once, always seemed afraid of me.” Like yeah, she’s a cat. She could probably sense you hated her. It’s hard enough to be an animal in the entertainment industry without some guy being a dick to you. Are you that uncharitable with human costars (and particularly child actors) or do you just hate animals?

Conversely, it’s so heartwarming when an actor speaks positively about an animal they worked with and/or there are behind the scenes stories of the crew genuinely trying to make the animal comfortable and giving them grace.

One of my favorite examples of this is Mad Max 2 (1981) which was made on a budget of $4.5 million AUD (about $13.5 USD in today’s money). They ended up casting a dog from the pound that was scheduled to be put down and by all accounts the dog was a nightmare to work with. But most of the cast and crew loved him. The dog’s name was Dog so his character’s name was also Dog. He was difficult to train but super food motivated so they kept writing dog food into scenes for him. He kept freaking out on set and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Eventually they realized part of the reason he kept acting out was because he was terrified of the sound of cars and motorcycles so they had special doggy earplugs made. His character was supposed to be aggressive but real Dog was very affectionate and could not be made to behave aggressively so they had to use selective editing to make him seem more menacing. When filming was done multiple crew members wanted to adopt him because he was such a good bad boy. He was adopted by one of the stuntwomen and got to live out the rest of his life doing actual blue heeler things. That was his only film role.

Had... 3? more meetups over last couple of weeks, and she's been rocking them every single time. (2 with group dogs, one with a trainer) Aside from practicing with the group's dogs (where the hardest part is initial approach), working on head-on passes, being chill when other dog is working, or playing next to her, and just, being a good citizen, we've also gone for a hunt, looking for random dogs. She's able to walk past a random, leashed dog, within 3 meter distance, giving me a lot of eye contact, and is vocalising way less than in the beginning. She's not very consistent with it yet, but the difference from meetup to meetup is bloody astounding. We've officially graduated the basic program, but I plan on reaching out to them about public transport access, muzzle training and whatnot. And on continuing with the group meetings - Which Fallon considers the boring side of seeing dogs. I never thought she'd be just. Politely bored, when encountering a dog. Magical. I can't believe it took me so long to find a system that works for us, but the social network the trainer has created is bloody amazing, and so much help in our training. And she so much happier, oh golly. I live to see that waggy tail just snap from side to side. Especially when she sees a dog, that she'd lunge and holler at, not two months ago, these days it's more of See dog - Internal grumble - AH! It's treat time - Offer eye contact - Treat

She's such a great dog.

We went to the park yesterday and met some dogs from our trainer's group. She did so damn well, some grumbling and whining but very focused with the waggy tail.

We've got a long way to go, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel.

She worked through so many distractions, including faraway off leash dogs, leashed youngin right by us and so many people.

The best part was when I took her to a sniff spot to relax a bit, and after two minutes she went back into heel and clearly wanted to join back in.

I am so damn proud of this blue fool.
