The magnificent Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
From Russia with... a shudder.
"If this were the beginning of a poem, he would have called the thing he felt inside him the silence of snow."
Gaiman. 🐀
"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderey again."
Orhan Pamuk's The Museum of Innocence is one of the most heart-wrenchingly gorgeous novels I've read. When Kemal loses the love of his life to another, he becomes a compulsive collector of the things and objects that chart his love story from and to the woman he loves - he collects everyday things like keys, salt shakers, cigarette butts, ashtrays, and jewellery - reliving the memories through these mementos. The Museum Of Innocence is not an easy read, but one that is very rewarding. And Pamuk- he writes like a dream!
Starting today. Summer Lightning- from the Blandings series, by the inimitable P.G Wodehouse.
A new book, some hot tea, a bar of chocolate and a good supply of striped t-shirts - recipe for a perfect life.
It's a Blessing - friends who love to book shop
New Tea. New Wodehouse.
With tiny people come gorgeous books for said tiny people.
