You don't have to force yourself to bounce back so quickly. I read something recently that said "when you come in from a rainstorm, you don't expect yourself to be dry and warm right away", and it really resonated with me. It's okay to take time to dry off and warm up. Take the time you need to process what happened to you.
Schneider and Richard for Barks TV, 2005
Schneider: "Hello, this is Schneider from Rammstein. You might be wondering which language Iâm speaking here - maybe itâs interesting for you to also listen to some German⊠maybe even a bit of German music. I can only recommend listening to Rammsteinâs new album; itâs called "Reise, Reise". And apart from that, I hope you have fun watching Barks TV."
Richard: "Hello, dear Japanese friends. Uuh⊠I donât usually give messages, but uh⊠what can I say? Stay as Japanese as you are. Take care!"
Fucking hell, RichardâŠđ€Ł
Remember, everyone, we still have a system in place and the Constitution still exists. We are not in a full dictatorship, yet. We can not give in to despair at every single thing this new administration does, because those checks still exist.
And until they don't - and that's a big if - we must keep our heads about us. Do not panic. Do not fall into apathy. Do not do anything irreversible.
The system will not save us, but it can protect us from the worst possible outcome for now.
And we will continue to fight even once it can't or won't.
Also picking up new books youâve never heard of before because the premise sounds neat or the cover is pretty or itâs on a themed library display or youâre just trying to read your libraryâs entire catalogue of 90s cyberpunk is just fun. Sometimes itâs not your thing but you get to mull over new ideas or the diversity of people and opinions and thoughts in the world. Sometimes you discover your new favorite book of all time
I just did that with a lot of the library books I picked up yesterday. Now I have a wide variety if these rainstorms keep going and our power goes out.
reblog if you ship a ship that's unhealthy, toxic and fucked up
I probably do, canât honestly think of one right now, but thereâs always a ship that people will judge you for liking because itâs those three things, and they donât understand that liking something in fiction doesnât necessarily mean that you think itâs a good thing in real life and you want a relationship like that.
"The problem is people don't read classics anymore"
No I think the problem is people don't read WIDELY. The ONLY ya and/or fantasy romance crowd is just as insufferable as the ONLY classics crowd or the ONLY litfic crowd or the ONLY nonfiction crowd and vice versa.
You gotta get some variety in there my guys
Upon this post I have seen people assert that nobody needs to read 'books by dead white guys' to be widely read with the context that they believe only dead white guys wrote classics,
People saying that because classics are in fact written not only by dead white guys you can get by on only reading classics,
And the classic (hah), people are just always going to be insufferable.
All of these have missed the point and are examples of why people should in fact read widely.
Read widely. Read beyond what you've been told are 'the classics'. Read works by authors from other times and places. Read works by authors who are different from yourself.
dare i add: read a bad book once in a while too. flex your critique muscles a bit
Actually yes this last point is an extremely valid addition
Not only does it help you learn and hash out your critique skills, you might be surprised
Read whatever the fuck you want, just donât act like your taste is superior to anyone elseâs.
That second photo of Richard from your last post... I have VERY UNHOLY fantasies about that old fashioned suspenders and this poor sofa he was sitting and his stupid child like face and those pouty lips its a blessing for him i wasn't around
Hi đđ»
Little older ask in regards to my post here.
A man and his suspenders - No time for unholy fantasies, he has to go places and do stuff đȘđ»
For example mid-concert stretching:
Or some serious learning - look at him being all immersed into probably finding the next movie he can practice his English with:
As well as doing some happy dancing with an equally jumpy Olli, gotta keep the spirits up on the road:
Or standing very sternly in a field, having to come to terms with the fluctuation of time:
Or showing how very "Berlin" he is together with his friends (don't forget good old Lars):
As well as asserting dominance in his silver form, including the lipstick:
A busy man, held together by determination, controlling tendencies and last but not least his very important suspenders đ€đ»
Iâll be honest here, all I can focus on is his ass in those pants in the first gif. đ€·đ»ââïž

You have no idea how much I love this.
I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.
Iâve read some things that deal in sad/dark/actually depressing and disturbing subject matter. Iâve loved them and the points they make without endorsing the events portrayed.
Itâs always disappointing to get online and see that the conversation is âX thing shouldnât existâ on the grounds that it made somebody feel badly. It was meant to make you feel that way and itâs normal that it did - itâs okay that you stop reading it or donât finish it but I am BEGGING you to consider why it made you uncomfortable and why the author felt the need (if the answer isnât immediately obvious, as it can be). There isnât shame in something putting you off so badly that you shelve it.
The sterilization of reality is a detriment to all who exist within it. To censor stories with painful themes is to erase the reality that such stories are based in some horrific truth and works to erase the reality that many people have endured.
This trend or whatever we want to call it has gotten so bad that I listened to an entire lecture from somebody about how awful a book was and how it shouldnât exist at all, how the author was a terrible person for concocting it and how it hurt people. When I asked what the book was, this person not only could barely recall the name but HAD NEVER READ IT. I bought the book. I read the book. It accomplished its task beautifully and I found it to be a cathartic experience. I also understood how it could make people so uncomfortable and would never judge anybody for setting it down.
Itâs okay not to like something and distance yourself from it. Remember that those rules apply only to you, though, because they speak only to your own psyche.
Periodic reminder that one of the many roles of fiction is microdosing on big scary feelings so you build resilience, empathy, understanding, and defense against the real thing.
why do you interact with that anti polin account. I get if you dont like Pen who is a character although i think thats plain fat phobia. Yes, even if you dont talk about her body you dislikng her actions so much mean you are fat phobic. But that account trash and make fun of nicola and luke!!!!
I think I know which accounts you're talking about, but I'm not entirely sure if it's that one because I follow many anti-Polin accounts. However, I think I have a pretty clear idea. So, I'll speak as if you had told me which account it is, but in a somewhat general manner.
Now, let's start in parts, as Jack the Ripper would say:
First, it's important to remember that people are three-dimensional, with diverse opinions and thoughts. We have social relationships where we share or disagree with others' opinions. Social interaction is based on this diversity of thoughts. What am I getting at? I can share certain opinions with a person, for example, my dislike for Penelope and Polin, but not share others, like my opinion on the changes made to the show.
Because of this, I can follow and interact with an account without agreeing with all their opinions. Thinking about that specific account we're talking about, I have many opinions that I share and many others that I don't. When they criticize Penelope respectfully, I like and share it. However, when they start being disrespectful and make comments I don't like, I prefer not to give visibility to that post.
Regarding the actors, I don't share any disrespect towards them, whether I like them or not. As a consumer of their work, I can critique their work respectfully. I've said it before: I don't like how Luke acts; personally, he doesn't convey anything to me. But, for example, I like how he sings; I have his cover of "Rewrite the Stars" from The Greatest Showman in my playlist, and I listen to it often because I love it. However, I'm the first to say that I don't like how he acts.
With Nicola, it's different. I'm not a fan of her, but I like how she acts. In fact, I started watching Bridgerton because of her. I liked her role as Claire in Derry Girls, and when I saw that she was in Bridgerton, I decided to give the show a chance. I had only read Daphne and Anthony's books, and although I liked them, I didn't have that hype for the show until I saw that Nicola was in it.
Fatphobia Issue:
I don't consider myself fatphobic or entitled to be for two reasons:
1. I don't like people making comments about my body, so why would I make comments about others' bodies? It would be hypocritical of me. During my childhood, I hated being mocked for my body. I'm skinny, but not conventionally skinny. They called me scrawny, sick, skeleton, anorexic, and bulimic, and that hurt me a lot. So why would I have the right to be fatphobic? I should treat others as I want to be treated: with respect. Whatever your body is like, I owe you respect simply because you're a person. It's basic human decency.
2. I'm a final-year medical student, and they teach me that as a future health professional, I can't comment on someone's body without them asking me to. And even if they do, I must fully respect the person. I can't comment without doing the necessary studies: blood, urine, hormones, etc. My job is to ensure my patient's physical and mental health. Medicine is individual and social, so each consultation and treatment must be tailored to each patient.
In Nicola's case, I don't consider her fat. Obviously, she isn't skinny, but I don't comment or talk about her body because she hasn't come to my hypothetical (and hopefully future) medical office asking for a consultation about her weight. So, I can't comment. I dislike any negative or "merely positive" (you know, those negative comments disguised as positive) comments about someone else's body. I don't share any comments about Nicola's body. She is beautiful, really beautiful.
For example, when I saw the comment about her body in a professional newspaper, it disgusted me. First, the journalist's lack of professionalism was appalling, and second, the comment itself was appalling. Any negative comment about Nicola's body I see as pure envy. A 39-year-old woman who looks beautiful, healthy, happy, has a successful career, and a lot of money, surrounded by equally beautiful people... any fatphobic comment is pure envy, and I don't take them seriously. What I recommend is therapy.
When I see the accounts I follow making comments about other people's bodies, I don't reblog them to avoid giving them visibility. Many times, I prefer to go to private messages and say: "Friend, your comment is not okay, I think it's crap. Reconsider your opinion on that topic, think about it, because it's not okay."
Maybe I should use my blog to raise awareness about fatphobia, but I try not to give visibility to topics I don't share on my blog. I'll try to be more open to these debates and give my opinion on the matter because I think it's very important, especially considering what I want to do. However, I feel insecure about talking about the subject because I don't want to fall into talking about other people's bodies.
I repeat, I don't share any disrespect towards the actors, from either the antis or the stans.
I hope this answered your question. If you have more doubts, keep asking. We'll try to answer them as long as it's with respect.
Penelope stans always insist that disliking Penelope for any reason is automatically fatphobicâŠbecause they think of Nicola as fat and they identify with her because of thatâŠeven when no one else has mentioned her weight.

The man was 58 years old at the time and had the energy level of a three-year-old who ate a full bag of Halloween candy, and he still has that much energy two years later.
I forgave Penelope because...she has taken the only power available to her. It's shitty and unfair, but it gives her a degree of power she wouldn't have in any other circumstance.
I wanted to like Eloise, I wanted for her to be a character that shows Penelope the darker side of her actions.
Instead, I got a pissy condescending patronizing MEAN GIRL who insults and degrades every woman in her circle. She wants the credit of female empowerment, but none of the work or dubious choices that Penelope had to make.
I genuinely don't know how I'm even supposed to give a shit about her romance from this point onward. Nothing she has done this season gives me any reason to want her to have a happily ever after.
Penelope has had plenty of choices and at every turn has chosen to belittle and betray other women and especially women of color.
Eloise has very justifiable complaints about her station as a woman, and she feels stifled by the options that are forced on her. The worst she does is make insensitive comments on the thing expected of women, but she is neutral on the women themselves. If people are upset that Eloise doesnât like embroidery thatâs not her problem. Sheâs never, say, exposed a womanâs illegitimate pregnancy. Sheâs never destroyed a working womanâs business to hide her secrets.
No one is a meaner girl on this show than the girl who runs a gossip column that targets every woman in the ton, most of whom have done nothing to her. She set up Daphne as the Diamond of the season only to tear her down the next day, she exposed Marina publicly despite having plenty of other options just to rob Colin of the opportunity of marrying her anyway, she calls Kate a spinster beast, she claims El as a friend but is shown to have always resented her as a âpretty Bridgertonâ because Penelope is a bitter, jealous woman of privilege who this season gains so much more privilege that the rules of the world set up in previous seasons get broken just so she wonât have to face a consequence.
The Eloise of previous would drop everything to comfort her friend even when they had had a fight. She had a clashing relationship with Daphne but she loves her, admires her strength and at no point does she wish her ill. She also supports Francesca this season whose goal is to be married. Sheâs also told Penelope that she understands that Pen enjoys the pomp of the ton, and itâs ok. She has praised Kate for being a spinster and for being a good viscountess. She has called out men who praise her by insulting the rest of her sex. Eloise has no problem with other women having different goals, but Iâm not going to blame her for being upset that other options are not available to her. Eloise is abrasive but she is not cruel, and she cares deeply. Recall that she started looking into Whistledownâs identity in order to help restore the Featheringtonsâ reputation â meanwhile Penelope was hoarding her wealth under the floorboards while her family had to let the servants go.
The worst thing Eloise has ever done is this season when she turned on Cressida â all for the benefit of Penelope, the true viper invited into her home, all so Penelope can have her cake and eat it too. I do think Eloise has been a bad friend â to Cressida and Cressida only. Eloiseâs characterization in the second part of season 2 was thrown into the toilet to give Penelope her happily ever after at the expense of all logic. Nothing Penelope has done is empowering; whistledown is Penelope turning herself into a tool of the patriarchy, criticizing every woman in the ton for how they play the game theyâre forced into, to enrich herself. I have absolutely no respect for that.
I donât give a shit about Eloiseâs romance either. Iâve liked her with Theo and with Cressida, and I hope the horror show of her book plot does not come to pass, but ultimately Eloise in a standard regency marriage plot would be another betrayal of her character.
maybe one day i will be over bridgerton season three and my hatred for penelope but that day is not today
i understand that the books are different and that book polin and penelope are not what their show counterparts are but i need book polin and penelope fans to take a step back and examine the absolute psychological horror of what show polin is.
genuinely there is something so insidious about a girl who meets a guy, believes it's love at first sight, and then befriends his sister. in fact, her ONLY friend is his sister. she spends years pining, sitting and staring out of her window so often that everyone in her life knows this is a common occurrence for her. a habit. she loves him, she wants to be with him, she wants to be a part of his family, and that family treats her well, they treat her with kindness.
and she tears them down. secretly. she uses her friendship with the daughter, her closeness to them, to prop herself up. to write vitriolic things about them, to cast shame on them, to bring their reputation into question time and time again. there is something so irredeemably manipulative about a girl who takes the secrets of those who trusts her and reveals them publicly when it best suits her--when she does not want the boy she loves to marry a girl who has been kind to her, a girl who considers her a friend, who has shared her anxieties and heartbreak. it does not matter that this girl would be a good wife, or that the boy truly cares for her, because this girl is not her. and she could've told the boy herself, but that boy is kindhearted and sensitive and good and he might still marry this other girl. and that is what is truly unacceptable, that is what can't be allowed to happen. so she destroys it, thoroughly. it does not matter who is caught in the blast.
it did not matter how this embarrassment would effect the family she claimed to love as her own, the family she wanted to be a part of. it did not matter that it would ruin marina, the only other person to consider penelope a friend. it led to marina nearly dying, it led penelope's own family being shamed and shunned. it did not matter, because to penelope, the only thing that mattered was that colin remained unmarried so that he may one day love her the way she loves him.
it did not ever matter that colin already loved her as a friend, because to penelope that was not a love worth having. not from colin, or marina, or eloise.
she does not care who she hurts. again and again. with daphne, with anthony and the sharma sisters, with her own best friend. eloise confides in penelope things that not only could destroy her reputation and that of her family, but things that could get her in trouble with the queen--views that are dangerous. and despite what she says, she does it to save herself first and foremost, to keep eloise from discovering her secret.
and when she thinks that the boy she loves will never return her interest, when he returns from his time away different from the boy she has spent years obsessing over from afar, she writes about it once more. to make herself feel better, to make him feel bad. for not loving her, for daring to try and change, for daring to be something he is not--something different from the boy she supposedly loves.
penelope actions as whistledown have shown her to be a callous, selfish, manipulative person. she understands that being whistledown means having power, admits it, and she has constantly used that power to destroy other women--regardless of how kind they were to her (marina), how much they trusted her (eloise), or if she even knew them at all (kate and edwina, the queen and her infant grandchild). she is a vicious and mean person on paper, with no loyalties to anyone but herself. her actions as whistledown are undefendable and cruel. and she is whistledown, they are one and the same.
i cannot see how anyone can look at the two and see anything to romanticize. she knows eloise would not want her in bridgerton house, rightfully so, but she goes to be close to colin, and then she invades his privacy by reading his journals. she continuously lies and crosses boundaries, but her eyes well with tears immediately after and so all is miraculously forgiven--nevermind that she will go home to write something cruel by candlelight later.
even their first kiss feels like a manipulation. a coersion. she begs, cries, pleads, claims she could die never having been kissed and she knows colin is a soft, sensitive boy. he was going to marry marina after a short courtship, convinced of love, he might've went ahead married her if he'd found out about the pregnancy privately because he is a good and kind man. so of course he will kiss her.
and then he proposes, and before they can go about it properly, before he can rethink it or back out--she publishes it in whistledown. so that the whole ton knows that she has finally won. she has succeeded in becoming a bridgerton. and she continues to lie to them all. she continues to lie to colin. she smiles and plays the role of the innocent girl next door, when she has been their primary antagonist force behind the curtains for years now.
even her declaration of love is said to distract, to protect herself, when he has discovered her secret, her true identity, and she can no longer hide. she shouts it at him, like it is meant to make everything okay, to make all of the bad things she's done go away.
and in a well written story, with well written characters, it would not. it would be seen for what it is. desperate. manipulative. but this season of bridgerton is a let down in many ways, and all of them are rooted in how the narrative has catered to washing away how horrible of a person penelope has been, instead of acknowledging it and moving forward with a true redemption arc.
so instead, we get to watch a gossiping mean girl who has spent years stalking and preying on one family in particular, manipulating her way into her happy ending with said family. and everyone just has to be gaslit into believing this is okay when it's not.
Thank the fucking lord someone more eloquent than I said this! Itâs all exactly what Iâm thinking.
