Rose appeared on the program It’s Not You, It’s Men, with Rev. Run and Tyrese, where the two challenged her on consent and whether what a woman is wearing counts as automatic consent. And she shut. It. Down. She had a great response to Rev. Run saying “dress how you want to be addressed.”

Brain studies find that concern for justice and equality is linked to logic, not emotion.
By Lisa Wade, PhD
A new study finds that people with high “justice sensitivity” are using logic, not emotions. Subjects were put in a fMRI machine, one that measures ongoing brain activity and shown videos of people acting kindly or cruelly toward a homeless person.
Some respondents reacted more strongly than others — hence the high versus low justice sensitivity — and an analysis of the high sensitivity individuals’ brain activity showed that they were processing the images in the parts of the brain where logic and rationality live. “Individuals who are sensitive to justice and fairness do not seem to be emotionally driven,” explained one of the scientists, “Rather, they are cognitively driven.”
Activists aren’t angry, they reasonably object to unjust circumstances that they understand all too well.
Image borrowed from Jamie Keiles at Teenagerie, who is a high sensitivity individual.

I don’t generally trust studies, but this is hilarious. Sorry, Status Quo Warriors, are we too logical for you? xD Do our facts and logic trigger you?
YES.
I once saw someone point out something I hadn’t really considered before- libraries are one of the only places that are warm and dry where you can stay for long periods of time if you have no money. If you’re someone with nowhere to go during the daytime, they provide a safe environment in which to keep a roof over your head for a while- and all while you can access information.
So yes. This.
It’s weird…libraries almost feel /wrong/ now. It’s like I walk in and think “This is great…where do I put my money?”
I used to work on a campus library and if you want someplace to put your money, so to speak, make sure you put books back in the designated areas. I know you think you’re being helpful by reshelving, but even if you pull something out to read a couple paragraphs just stick it in the basket for things you didn’t want. I don’t care if you know EXACTLY where you are. In academic libraries (at least in Texas) our funding was determined by how many books people looked at. So we got additional funding based on books not being reshelved. If there’s a designated shelf/basket for things you don’t want, stick things in it!
What @standbyyourmantis said about not reshelving is true for public libraries, too. Our funding is dictated largely by how ‘used’ we are, so we scan all the items that are laying about as In House Use. That, tied with Reference Count and Door Counter numbers (we have to manually put in the time we take for references) to prove we’re providing a needed service. We also have to count the number of people who come for our programs, which not only helps funding but shows that the programming/services are needed, as well. So, basically, if you want to feel like you’re making sure we’re getting paid and staying around, keep these in mind.
I didn’t know that’s why you’re not supposed to reshelf!
Oh my gosh! Not reshelving books is super important and everyone needs to know this.
Holy shit I had no idea
we also determine what books to get based on what’s checked back in, which includes stray books. the logic is that if you took it out to look at it, it must be at least a little appealing.
also picking up stray books is anywhere from 20-30 mins of my time which means i spend less time in the storage closet feeling bad for myself

Favorite moment from that rebate. Civility, decency and comradeship can exist amongst competitors. It’s heartening to see.
We need to remember this no matter the outcome of the primary.
To the point I’ve been making…
welp
A 14 year-old boy was recently raped at knife-point by a 20 year-old woman. When the story broke, it was primarily men who claimed he should have enjoyed it. It was feminists who validated his pain and spoke in support of him. This is why we need feminism.

Ian Mercer, father of the man who killed nine people and wounded nine others at Umpqua Community College, spoke to CNN Saturday. In the interview Mercer called the event “devastating” and explained he was still trying to understand it, but he took the time to issue a passionate call for the U.S. to restrict access to firearms.
don’t just reblog this.. think.. there are women in this world who have inserted coat hangers into themselves in order to force/create an abortion… because.. men in government thought more about the words in the Bible than the rights of women and their bodies.
Illegal abortions caused the death of many many women, infertility, horrendous internal damage and infection and royally fucked with the emotional well being of so many woman.
THERE ARE WOMEN WHO HAVE STUCK HANGERS INSIDE OF THEM IN ORDER TO INDUCE AN ABORTION BECAUSE THE GOVT CARES MORE ABOUT WORDS IN A BOOK THAN WOMEN’S LIVES.

Holy shit, re blog the fuck outta this
I am absolutely against any and all men having guns, as all men are socialized to be violent, unempathetic, entitled, overreactive, impulsive and aggressive. However, debating with or asking men to give up their guns, or even simply look at and acknowledge male violence and socialization, isn’t going to lead anywhere, just like it hasn’t after ever other mass shooting. Even though men are unsympathetic towards women, they are sympathetic to, and identify with, violent men. Men are not willingly going to give up their guns, and it doesn’t matter how much research you show them, how many statistics, how much proof you show them, they do not care, and that’s part of their violence. Male violence, male socialization, masculinity, must be the center and focus of gun related violence, and violence in general as well.
New details on UCC Terrorist Shooter have been released and it reveals everything from his white supremacy background to his hatred/frustration towards women and being a virgin.
On CNN’s “AC360″ on Friday, without using his actual name, network justice correspondent Pamela Brown offered some insights into the shooter.
According to the report, Mercer gave his writings to a survivor of the massacre, which revealed “hatred” toward black men and his struggles with the opposite sex.
“In the middle of the shooting rampage, the gunman handed his writings to a survivor to give to police according to sources. In those pages, the shooter rambled about his hatred toward black men and how he was frustrated about being a virgin unable to find a girlfriend.”
This could be the reasoning behind why it seems that only women were targeted. The hospital said all the victims were female.
Brown went on to discussed the anti-Christianity aspect of his crime, and how he asked the victims religions before killing them.
“So far all we’ve been able to find is on a social media page that apparently belonged to him. He said he disliked organized religion but in the writings we talked about in the piece, apparently he gave no indication other than saying he associated with the dark side.”
His social media also features white supremacist/Nazi and IRA imagery.
