Velvet fumbles with the gun, but her hands shake. She fires one shot.

The figure finds her first. It's Pyrrha, who must not notice that Velvet is literally on fire. Thankfully, she is close enough to confirm that it is Velvet.

Fuck, indeed! Velvet blacks out--her weak lungs can no longer support her, and she allows herself to let go.

However, things aren't over yet! She wakes up in the infirmary, wondering how she was transported more than ten miles through the fire. Weiss stands in front of her, seemingly upset, and Pyrrha is seated near the opposite wall.

A voice calls out, asking for confirmation of her identity. Velvet sinks to her knees.

Due to the fact that Velvet's ear is burning, she forces herself not to answer--if she opens up her mouth, she'll scream.
