The big reason it gets me when folks act like it's unlikely that the author was considering the esoteric symbolism of the colour of the curtains is that, like, there are people out there who consider the esoteric symbolism of their home decor in real life. They're not even rare ā Pinterest is full of them.
the problem of fandom reducing characters who are women and/or people of colour to sexist/racist stereotypes is definitely aggravated by the fact that a lot of fans simply do not pay very much attention to these characters in the first place then subconsciously paper over the gaps in their perception with things theyāve been culturally conditioned to believe are true about people in the same category as said character
many cases where youāll see someone say something about a character and itās like hmm i donāt think that idea is supported anywhere in canon but i can tell exactly which stereotype you got it from

Actually itās easier for people with very specific bodies (white, thin, average height) with large incomes and supportive families to transition medically in a way which is more likely to conform to strict ideas of āmanā and āwomanā
I swear every time I see someone try to make the argument for one of us having it better they exclusively either cite celebrities (again, see white, rich, thin) or assume that the people they know irl are representative of every trans person.
It also begs the point that YOU DO NOT KNOW IF SOMEONE IS STEALTH UNLESS THEY TELL YOU. No one actually knows how many trans people successfully live as stealth.
Most of the passing trans people I know personally are women, but most of the trans people I know to be stealth are men. I also know far more trans women than I do trans men. Not to ignore the fact that these arguments completely erase non binary people who are pressured to just pick a binary gender to āpassā as because it is functionally impossible to be a āstealthā non binary person.
It is completely possible to have important conversations about the specific oppressions that different kinds of trans people face without framing one group as being completely objectively better off. Stop trying to pit us against each other. It isnāt easy for *anyone* to be trans in this world.

So like, a relationship between a girl and an agender person is diamoric and the agender person is the girlās diamour!

I keep thinking about how I was being accused of dehumanizing Argentina by talking about what I saw and it's just like... This was a World Staged Event. The Entire Planet was watching. We all saw the poor conduct of the team and of the fans. Were we not supposed to... Gather anything from that? How is it not the fault of the team and the fans for embarrassing their country with their behavior, but instead our faults for talking about what may have led to that sort of behavior? And again, this was not just me! Plenty of folks from across the pond and in Latin America were also talking about it!
And before someone says "well you didn't talk about-" yes I did. Yes WE did. We saw Mbappe drag that racist Paraguayan senator for filth, well deserved! That whole "it's because he's from France" yeah whatever, we know what made her say what she did about him. Shit, she told us lmao. We talked about how France and these European countries sure can find Black people when they need athletes, but hate them otherwise. That was another thing that got a lot of us involved. i think a lot of what drives defaulting to "guy" for me when making jokes is there simply are not words like "person" that are funny. guy is SO FUNNY. like sometimes "human" hits the same way but not often!!! guy invokes a slightly different connotation than the more technically gender neutral alternatives in jokes like "humans think everything is a guy." it doesn't feel accurate to say humans think everything is a person. we certainly do not think everything is humans. but we do think everything is a guy. and what is the distinction there? to me "guy" kind of implies a Type, as well as sort of indicating that someone is an Entity With Personhood Of Some Sort that may not necessarily line up with like... actual personhood. when I was a kid, I called my toys that were people or animals or otherwise things that could be ascribed a personality "guys," like "oh I have to go gather up my guys to take to my friend's house with me," and this still feels like the most appropriate word for this to me. that bag full of plastic lions and flocked woodland creature dolls and barbies and beanie babies is a bag full of Guys. my guys are in there. hashtagmyguys
i think the TLC network may have been one of the most evil stations in history, their only shows were like; watch fat and disabled people suffer compounding health issues, vouyeristically observe the habits and lives of the autistic and mentally ill, watch women in poverty be shipped overseas to marry neglectful and abusive american men in order to not die from poverty, and the reactionary evangelical cult family show

There should be a button on the "previous order" page of online websites that tells you how much you've given that shop over your lifetime so that you can stare at the number and feel like shit. This would not improve shopping or help them make money, but nevertheless. I am so curious.
