Finally getting around to this — thanks for the tag @gettingbyi! (a Wednesday is a Wednesday, right??)

Love that we’re (hopefully!) going to get to see more of Akram’s relationship with his daughters, and have been thinking about how far he would go to protect them… basically more “Akram having to make horrible choices” angst:

He had seen it before. Not often — but often enough. A warning. A delay. A second warning that wasn't really a warning anymore, and then nothing, and then— A family that didn't exist in the same configuration it had the week before. He had filed reports on some of these. He had not, at the time, thought of them as anything other than work. By the end, he had thought of nothing else. He had sat across from her and he had told her what he knew and she had listened, really listened, and then she had said I know. And she had gone back. Because she’d made a commitment. Because without her, people would die. Because she’d decided, long before he had, what kind of person she was going to be. He understood this about her. Had loved her for it, once. He'd also decided what kind of person he was going to be.
