This is your semi frequent reminder that there is no official AO3 app

All those are unofficial and available on the Google play store as of August 13th 2025. They mirror AO3's content and insert ads, for which the developer gets paid by page impression (that's every time the ad appears in the fic you're reading) not just clicks.

No money goes to AO3, nor to the fic writer. It goes to the person who did the bare minimum.

Many of these apps have poorly worded or non existent privacy policies, so they may also be mining as much data as possible and selling that on to unknown third parties.

Please, just use the official AO3 site and the browser.

As a guy who does Cyber IT as a living PLEASE USE THE MAIN SITE ON THE BROWSER! Do not use unofficial apps. You are opening yourselves up to a multitude of cyber threats, especially when there is no privacy policy or agreements.

The site is mobile optimized, and you can download the fics as PDFs or epubs if you need to read offline like on a plane, there is no reason to use a third party app.

A shiny new support center is materializing! 🛠️

With more than 600k writers now using Ellipsus (🙀), we’re streamlining support to make it easier to find answers, report problems, and get urgent issues to us a lot faster. In the new Ellipsus Help Center and Knowledge Base, you can search for answers directly from the in-app support widget, then submit a categorized support request when you still need help. Those categories help us identify very important issues like inaccessible work, deletion recovery, payment issues, bugs, etc. And: the support widget works on mobile now!! A few important notes while we make the switch:

If you’re seeing an “Ellipsus is outdated” notification, please fully close your Ellipsus tabs, clear the site data/cache for Ellipsus, and reopen your workspace. If you’re experiencing any lag or other loading issues, the refresh should help with that.

During the migration to the new system, some earlier messages might be lost, while others may be attached to old conversations we can no longer reply to. If you were waiting for support and still need help, please check the Knowledge Base first, then send us a new request through the support widget or the support ticket page in the Knowledge Base.

Starting today, all support requests should come through these forms rather than directly through our email inbox. This gives us the info and logs we need ASAP, and keeps requests from becoming scattered or lost (which helps us resolve issues faster!).

The new forms system will give us more up-front info, but support is still a collaborative process. We may need to ask you follow-up questions about your issue as we investigate. (Every device, browser, bug, sequence of events behaves differently.) Live chat will also remain available for urgent issues.

The new center is still under construction (insert a Geocities .gif circa 1999), but the articles/walkthroughs will continue improving over time. (That’s how you know humans be werkin’. 🫠)

A story for the 90's people! In case you don't know, The Nanny was a 90s TV show, starring Fran Drescher, which took place in New York! So... of course I had to write this.

"I gave him, looking back at it, a really difficult job: to come into the core cast of a little show like ours after two series, as an adversary to one and a love interest to another, without either unbalancing it or feeling like an unnecessary add-on. Anthony did neither, he slotted right in as if he’d always been there, and his Beatrice and Benedick relationship with Stephanie Cole’s Carolyn provided some of my favourite scenes of the show - along with his superb 'voice-off’ against Roger Allam.

My favourite memory of Anthony from the show was when - as happened to all of us at one time or another - one little phrase suddenly became impossible to say. I think his was ‘soft shoe shuffle’. We all started playing up to the idea of ‘helping’ him get the line out, which of course made it far harder for him, and by the end, my memory is that I had taken his script and was crouched in front of him holding it up; and Ben and Roger were either side of him, arms round him, Roger crooning ‘you can do it, Tony’… as he tried to get the line out through tears of laughter.

And then when (of course) he finally delivered it immaculately, his exultant post-goal style celebrations took him across the whole stage.

I always assumed we’d work together again, and am so sorry that we will not. My sympathy and condolences to all his family and friends."
