I need to use up my old colognes...
I have adidas moves 0:01, and a quiksilver cologne that I've had for over 5 years. I might have to use them much more often.
Like a Boss...
So I'm back with a review, friendos!
This evening I'm taking a look at a fragrance that I received for Christmas last year from my older sister. And here it is:
It's Hugo Boss' Boss in Motion: White Edition. Now, this is a uniquely designed bottle in that it has a sphere shape to it, whereas most colognes come in either cylinder or rectangular shaped bottles. Another thing that I enjoy about the design is that it kind of hints at what the product smells like. If you haven't guessed yet, allow me to explain...
White Edition a clean, fresh scent, with a hint of orange. Ruby orange, to be exact, is used for the top notes, which gives the cologne the fresh burst at the start. It's followed by cinnamon, saffron and black pepper flavours in the heart. You really get the saffron, but the other scents compliment it well. To finish at the base, vetiver gives it an almost woody end to it.
I've been wearing this cologne a lot lately, which makes me glad my sister got it for me. I feel like it's something you can wear year round, so it would make a really good Christmas present. I'd give it a favourable 7/10.
Since it was a limited edition (that came out in 2009), it's not available on the Hugo Boss website. But I'm sure it's available elsewhere online and in stores.
Things I obsess over other than perfume:
my boyfriend
beer
cigars (which clashes with my perfume unfortunately lol but cigars are an occassional thing for me)
sushi
I used to also obsess over Hello Kitty but not so much anymore
oh and of course the biggest duh of all…tumblr.
I wouldn't say I'd obsess over beer, or tumblr. But there big parts. But here's some stuff I DO OBSESS OVER.
Hockey (most specifically, the montreal canadiens)
My wonderful girlfriend
that's it :)
‘Tis the season, which can mean only one thing: You are in search of great holiday gifts. Well, look no further. Whether you’re stumped about what to get a co-worker, your dad, or your bestie, we have something for everyone on your list. Check back every day this month for a new dose of...
Yeah, I would say this is probably a dad fragrance. A spicy, woodsy smell is more suited for an older gentleman.
The Girlfriend Factor....
Long time no post. I've been super busy with work. Maybe I'll do a review or two sometime this week, but we'll see.
Anyway, I've failed to mention a key element to considering my decision about different colognes. My loving other half! Now, we don't have the exact same taste in fragrances, but when it comes to purchasing, my sweetheart needs to like what I'm getting.
Now, as the seasons change, my preferences have changed as well. With winter upon us, I've become more wanting a woody scent. But my girl always enjoys a fresh, fruit based smell. So I have to change it up every now and then.
Two of my girlfriend's favourite colognes: Paco Rabanne - 1 Million; Givenchy - Play

Haven’t tried many John Varvatos colognes yet. Will have to try this soon.
Got this sample today, along with a Tom Ford fragrance. This one's fresh, I like it (shocker!). Will review shortly

FACT : SWIMMERS USE CHLORINE AS COLOGNE :)

Well, that sounds like it'd be painful...
New Sample!
I got this at a department store the other day...
May be going back to get more. Will try to get more reviews out soon. In the meantime. Some reblogs!
Learning a bit more about cologne...
So I was looking into some things about cologne (I was mainly interested in DIY solids) and found out a lot I didn't know. I've been talking about the top, heart and base sections of colognes and not really getting the whole point. For the most part I got it, but after looking into it, I understand a lot better now.
The top note is the scent you first notice, but they evaporate the quickest, so they don't last long. It usually consists of citrus, and fresh scents. The middle note or the heart tends to last a bit longer connects the top and the base. Middle notes are normally floral. Finally, base notes (also called the fixative) anchors the overall scent and tries to keep the other scents going. Popular base notes sandalwood and vetiver and have a dark and sweet scent to them.
By reading some of my reviews, I think it's apparent that I'm more into colognes that have a longer lasting top note, but with a good base you can get a passing grade with me. Hopefully this helps you understand cologne more.
My sample of Bottled Night came!
So expect a review of this coming soon!
How creative...*where it's supposed to be*
Gucci by Gucci. Where to begin? Well, let’s just get to what it’s made of. There’s nothing I can really critique about that. Top notes include bergamot, cypress and violet, but they aren’t very noticeable. Heart notes have scents of tobacco leaves and jasmine, — not my favourite smells — and are probably the drive force behind the fragrance. Finally, patchouli, amber and incense make for the base and give it a leathery accord. Overall, not a good combination.
So what is it about this cologne that makes it so anger inducing to me? It’s a terrible smell that won’t go away. Usually, an enduring scent is something positive for a fragrance, but when it smells like leather dipped in cough medicine? Blegh, no thank you.
I’m not sure why anyone would want to purchase Gucci squared on their own accord, but if this toilet water ends up in your collection, I would suggest wearing it in the winter over many layers of clothes so no one has to suffer what I’m sure might be the real world equivalent of Sex Panther by Odion. This gets a 2 out of 10 from me.
