“By the time I identified as being gay, it was too late. I was already homophobic, and you do not get to just flick a switch on that. No, what you do is you internalize that homophobia and you learn to hate yourself. Hate yourself to the core. I sat soaking in shame in the closet for ten years. Because the closet can only stop you from being seen. It is not shame-proof. When you soak a child in shame, they cannot develop the neurological pathways that carry thoughts of self-worth. They can’t do that. Self-hatred is only ever a seed planted from outside in. But when you do that to a child, it becomes a weed so thick, and it grows so fast, the child doesn’t know any different. It becomes as natural as gravity. When I came out of the closet, I didn’t have any jokes. The only thing I knew how to do was to be invisible and hate myself. It took me another ten years to understand I was allowed to take up space in the world. But, by then, I’d sealed it off into jokes like it was no big deal. I need to tell my story properly.”

tchaikovsky is proud
In case anyone is baffled by this, there’s a Tchaikovsky piece in which there’s supposed to be a loud sound but he never specified what you should use to make that sound. People have done all kinds of weird shit depending on how they think the sound should, well, sound. Hitting a large piece of wood with a sledgehammer is a relatively conventional one.

The Bachelorette: Lena Luthor Edition (insp)
aka The Search for the Least Useless Lesbian
Introducing new contestants:
[fast forward to Lena meeting the contestants]
bonus:
Omg there’s more! Can this just be a whole series? Like next week I’ll hop on Tumblr and the contestants participated in a science off as one of thier tasks and it came down to Alex, Kara, Imra of course but being from the future Imra had the best project/scienc-y thing and that pisses Kara off (because Imra has Mon-poop, she can’t have Lena Too!) So then there’s the typical cat fight with Lucy, Alex and Sam all trying to hold Kara back from laying the beat down on Imra. Also Wonder Woman and Susan got caught making out behind the pool house. Lucy gets elimainated cuz she actually does punch Imra, and Susan, and Sam. And Alex. And Kara accidently, so she ended up breaking her hand and could no longer participate in the events.
This sounds like such a disaster you just KNOW it will actually happen.
The Bachelorette: Lena Luthor Edition
Let Alex Danvers Date Who She Wants Edition
“For us to showcase this character, who is a core member of the ensemble, who is not going anywhere, who is happy, who has friends, a chosen family that she loves and who is successful in her life, is something I never saw growing up on television. I never thought a happy ending could be for me. And now I’m playing someone who is out, who is bi and who is going to succeed.” - Stephanie Beatriz accepts the GLAAD Media Awards for Brooklyn Nine-Nine
@jazzfordshire I feel like this is very band AU Sam…
Oh my god, this is ABSOLUTELY band AU Sam. If Lena wasn’t asleep, she’d be giving Sam murder eyes.
