Hey cybersmith, how do you feel about cannibalism?
Is this in reference to Jonathan Swift and a Modest Proposal? If so then this jab is not appreciated and only continues to derail potentially stimulating and earnest intellectual discussion.
If it is not concerning that post then we must needs concern ourselves with the particulars of said cannibalism. While the most common cases which can be conjured tend to pit survivors in the throes of desperation, devouring on their deceased comrades in hopes of lasting until a search party happens upon them, this is a most detestable and lowly state of affairs. The circumstances are extenuating, no doubt, but it is also no surprise that these survivors often carry shame, guilt, and sometimes even face charges later in life. Cannibalism in this manner is most uncouth and a better man will meet fate with a stern face and empty stomach.
However cannibalism as divine right of the royals–and which has been indulged by a number of monarchs throughout history–I would not be so quick to condemn. At first blush it seems a vulgar abuse of power but upon further inspection I think anyone can see the righteous indulgence of authority and power which brings to the entire circumstance a heightened civility which must be respected and even admired.
