Do you ever just lay in bed wishing you were a kid again? Like wanting to have that same feeling of childlike wonder and excitement about your favorite things?
For me... I want to be in 7th grade again. My mom waking me up on a Saturday morning. The birds chirping and the sun shining. She says to me in a quiet voice... "Carly Annnne... the country countdown is on. Wake up, so you don't miss it." I would jump out of bed and turn on my boom box. Turn to B100 and get my little recorder out that my dad gave me... I would record my favorite songs so I could listen to them over and over until the next week when I would rewrite the cassette tape and record again. I miss that. A lot
I don't remember much about my childhood. Some things, yes. But most of the things I remember have to do with music. And that's one of my fondest memories.
This is also coming from the kid who would get her boom box taken away as punishment when a butt whooping wasn't enough to straighten me out. 😅
I think I'm thinking about this stuff because of what I talked about with Megan today. I mentioned that I don't recall a lot of childhood. (Highschool mainly) I only remember the bad things. And she said "Yeah, that's not good. That means you still have a lot of trauma we need to work through." And it hit me that yes, technically I had a "great childhood". I had great parents. But I went through a lot of crap that I guess my brain isn't healed from. So I'm laying in bed, listening to early 2000's country music trying to remember the good times. 🤷♀️
