I've been in college for about six weeks now, and it's been a new experience, to say the least. It's flown by, and it's just crazy how fast this is all going by, I feel like I'm gonna miss it all. So I'm gonna sum up some of my favorite moments as of yet:

I went to my first college football game and yelled our cheers a little too loud

I've met some amazing people, that I won't soon forget

I've almost flooded my jeep (twice) in Lubbock (west Texas???)

I went to my first concert (FYI: JAB fest was amazing)

I've talked to more people than I ever did in all four years of high school

And I'm all together happier than I was in high school (except for in drama club, I was always happy there)

Oh, and I watched a drunk girl go to the bathroom, sit on the toilet and then pee on the floor, and then walk around in her pee and exit the bathroom with one shoe (she came in with two)

SO an Eastern Diamondback Rattle snake ended up in our back yard today. My father pinned it to the ground with a bow and arrow from 15 feet away. Pretty BA if you ask me, that is, UNTIL IT SLITHERED AWAY. THE DAMNED THING WRIGGLED LOOSE AND IS NOW ON THE FACKING LOOSE.

So I realized today how incredibly homesick I am. 

I was in an interview for a sorority thinggy and they asked me who my role model was and all I could think of was "my mom". So I told them that, and I was tearing up. And then they asked me why, and I could barely keep from crying. And just now my mom called me and asked me if everything was okay (that woman has a sixth sense I swear to god) and I just sat on the phone and cried for a while with her because I'm a nub and I'm allowed to do that, right?

And that made me realize not only do I miss my mom and family, but I miss my friends SO much. I've been kind of MIA because I've been so busy with everything, but my heart hurts because I miss them. I sincerely have the greatest friends in the world, specifically the dickbutts. I haven't known them all too long, but they're joy closest friends and I love them so much. And I can't wait until I get to see them again (I'll get a countdown on that soon). Even though I've made some incredible friends here at school, nobody in the world will ever replace my dickbutts.

Today is September 4th 2014. It has now been 8 years since the death of one of my greatest heroes.Steven Robert Irwin. In that time, and unlike what my comforting mother, and friends assured me, it has not become easier. In the years since his passing I have watched as animal media feed into the hands of the uneducated, sensationalist, and often even cruel TV show hosts only content in showcasing the brutality, and deadly aspects of wildlife. I have seen no one step up to the plate, no one fill that void he left in the world. Consider this an open letter, to all those as tragically in love with the natural world as I. Get out there, be loud, show your self and your love to the world, educate, experience, and just and just freaking live. We are but one species on what may be the most biodiverse planet in the universe. So get up, and make some damn noise, lose the fear, and show them what you love.

Guys, I'm going through some stuff with my dad. We have some pretty differing views on life in general, and I'm just now realizing this because I'm now beginning to make my own opinions. I think that this is a natural thing to happen, but it's a bit different because my dad and I have always been super tight (something I can go into if I ever get around to making a draw my life). Anyways, I just want to remind people that no matter what your parents say or what you say, if they have ever loved you or you them, that love won't just vanish. It will be there no matter how far deep it has been buried. Parents are the best and the worst and that's just the way it is.
