The experiences people have with the gaybian label very much vary and it depends on who you ask. For my personal experience it’s pretty simple.

If I date a man, I consider that relationship a gay relationship. If I date a woman , I consider the relationship a lesbian relationship.

Before anyone comes at me for considering myself somewhat lesbian as a masc/mostly male identifying person ; I AM INTERSEX. MY RELATIONSHIP WITH GENDER IS OH SO COMPLEX AND EVERCHANGING. also i can do what i want forever bleeeeehh.

We never had an opportunity to get an actual therapist throughout our life, the closest we got was our school counsellor. And that was the first time we ever had anything of the sorts.

I don’t think we liked it personally? I dunno. It just felt very intense and the fact one small mention of something going on in my life could just completely be told to everyone and eventually lead back to my family made us sick. It never happened, but that was because we were purposely vague about anything we said.

We also had this specific mindset drilled into our heads at a young age. “ if you tell anybody ___ and ___ you’ll get taken away from us and you’ll never see us again “ was something that still sticks with us to this day. It made us completely scared of saying anything to anyone, especially those who were professionals. This is partially the reason why we still are hesitant on getting a therapist now. The main reason being that it’s hard to get therapy behind someone’s back + it’s difficult to get a therapist that’ll actually listen to you and one that doesn’t bring their religious bias through their advice or is actively anti-queer. The medical field in all of its forms definitely needs an improvement is all I can say.
