Chat Noir loves Sundays because Sundays are Marinette days. So are Fridays and Tuesdays and Wednesdays (and every other Thursday) but Sundays are special. By Sunday, Marinette has finished most of her homework and they can just sit back and bask in each other's presence. It's nice. Adrien so rarely just gets to exist anymore.

Sometimes they play video games together (Mario Kart being a favorite, even though Marinette almost always wins) or Chat will just sit in silence and watch Marinette sew, entranced by the elegant motions of her fingers. Every movement she makes holds power and flows into one another and if he didn't know better, he would say she was a princess right out of a Disney movie. If she began to sing and birds and mice joined in, he wouldn't be surprised -- Marinette just had that air about her. Like there was something indescribably powerful and benevolent lying just beneath the surface of her skin that he wasn't quite privy to. Or perhaps his affection for her just blinds him to reality.

One of the first things Adrien noticed when he began visiting Marinette's patio, was that no one else treats him as well as she does. She gives him snacks and lets him into her home and never oversteps his boundaries, something that no one else will do for him. Not even his father. Especially not his father. Marinette actually pays attention to him and cares about what he thinks and when he's around her his heart feels a little lighter -- like it could grow magnificent wings and fly far, far away from his asshole of a dad and shitty home life. But she doesn't need to know that.

On the days like today, the days that Adrien can't help but wear his anguish and grief on his sleeve, on the days where the unpredictability of his life strikes an unspeakable fear in his heart, Marinette is consistently there. She doesn't mention the far away look in his eyes or the way his hands tremble despite the warmth of her room, she just places his head on her lap, slowly running her fingers through his hair while she litters his head with small braids. He finds the repetitive motion calming and can't help but relax in her presence, her gentle humming slowly washing over him, coving him in a blanket of warmth and pure Marinette.

They lay on Marinette's bed together, getting high off of each other's presence as the hours pass by, neither speaking a word to each other. Marinette continues to play with Chat's hair and Adrien continues to worship the ground she walks on, his eyes wandering and his mind drifting. Her room is littered with knick-knacks and important momentos and Adrien is reminded of her unshakable faith in her friends and family. Their pictures line her walls and cover her shelves and a few polaroids and picture booth printouts are shoved carefully between the glass and frame of her floor-length mirror.

Chat shifts when he spots an older photo of Marinette with her parents and leans his head back to look at her, "You know, I just realized something. And I'm almost a little offended."

Marinette pauses her braiding, "What?"

Once the braid is tied into place, Chat sits up and turns towards her, "Your parents know that I'm here, right?"

She snorts, "Yeah, Chat, they do. You're not exactly quiet, you know. You practically trip on your way in every time."

He pauses and his eyebrows furrow behind his mask, "Your parents know that you, their teenage daughter, are spending time, alone, with a mysterious boy her age who wears a black catsuit and won't tell anyone his real, government-approved name."

She grins, "Sounds right so far."

"And they trust me enough, to let that happen? And continue to let happen?"

Marinette giggles and Chat's heart does a weird swooping thing that he really hopes that Plagg can't feel through their connection, "Why wouldn't they?"

He shrugs, "I mean, I'm a teenage boy, right? With hormones and cooties and everything."

She scoffs, "As if you would ever put the moves on me. Honestly, I'm almost a little offended that you've never tried!" She shoves his shoulder good-naturedly, but Chat's a million miles away. Is this ... flirting??? Is Marinette hitting on him right now? Or is this just a joke between friends? Honestly, teenage girls can be so confusing sometimes, and Adrien isn't always the best at reading others' body language.

"Do you want me to?"

Marinette pauses, "What?"

"Do you want me to make a move on you?" he smirks with an easy confidence that he certainly wouldn't have if he wasn't currently moonlighting as Chat Noir right now.

The tips of her ears turn an impressive shade of pink and she begins to stutter (something she hasn't done in front of Chat in a long, long time), "Well, I- I didn't say that. I mean- Ughh. You're so-! You're mocking me aren't you?" she pokes his chest.

His grin falters, "What? No, I'd never mock you."

She lets out a small huff of air before looking away and Chat can't help but feel like he's missing something important, "Yeah, yeah, I know."

He sits up straighter and grabs the bottom of her chin before gently turning her face towards his, "I'm serious, Marinette. I'd never purposely do anything to hurt you."

Marinette smiles softly and places a placating hand on his upper arm, "I know, Chat. It's just-" she cuts herself off, shaking her head.

"It's just what?" his brow furrows.

"It's nothing."

"Marinette."

The silence between them is stifling, and Adrien is beginning to think that Marinette isn't going to respond at all before her voice cuts through the air as gentle as ever, "Everyone knows you love Ladybug, Chat. That's why my parents don't mind you being up here," she pauses, and her voice drops to a quiet whisper, "Everyone knows you could never love me. I'm just... Marinette."

Chat Noir freezes. She didn't really believe that, did she?

He tucks a stray piece of hair behind her ear, "And what's wrong with being Marinette?"

She scoffs, "I'm... plain. I'm nothing like Ladybug."

"What are you talking about? You and Ladybug have a ton in common!"

"Oh really? Like what?"

He grins, "Well, you're both kind and compassionate... smart... " he boops her nose, "brave."

She swats his arm and grumbles something under her breath that is too quiet for him to hear but he's sure it's self-deprecating. He watches her and he knows that he must look especially pathetic with the way he follows her every movement and examines every detail of her face.

He grabs her hand, "And you're far from plain, Marinette," his eyes soften, "You're the most beautiful girl I know."

Marinette turns red and hides her face in her hands, "Chat! You can't just say something like that!" she splutters.

He grins, but before he has the chance to reply an alarm goes off, "Oh. I guess it's time for me to go."

Marinette somehow manages to compose herself for long enough to see him to the patio, "You know," she mumbles, "You're not so bad looking yourself."

He smiles and kisses the back of her hand, "I'll see you on Tuesday... Marinette," he savors the word.

"Yeah, see you on Tuesday," Marinette manages to choke out.

He spares her a lingering glance before leaping onto a nearby roof. Tuesday will certainly be interesting, that's for sure. Hmm, maybe he should bring some flowers. Something pink.

His heart hasn't felt this light in a long time.

daminette lost and found soulmate au where whenever one of them loses something the other finds it

prompt #1- lost

marinette first loses her favorite stuffed animal

a black cat with a golden bell on it’s collar

she called him mister fluffy

she’s five

when she’s seven she starts designing in her free time

a small hobby at first but her love and passion for design grows along with her

she starts loosing sewing needles and thread

often sometimes she looses her sketches

she feels bad about the needles

she hopes her soulmate doesn’t hurt themselves

he’s a trained assassin he’s fine

it feels like she’s constantly loosing things

damian on the other hand barely looses anything at all

he doesn’t own much

the few things he does own he guards very well

when he first finds something his soulmate loses he’s confused

at first he thought it was a test from his mother

a good assassin would report the strange cat stuffed animal to his mother

they definitely wouldn’t keep it

for the first time in his life he chooses not to be a good assassin

he hides the black cat stuffed animal under his bed

his mother never finds it

later, when he inquires as to all the needles that keep appearing on his bed he thinks it’s some kind of fucked up test of strength and character he learns about soulmates for the first time

his mother tells him the fate of soulmates of the leave of assassins

she’s never made a scarf before and wants it to be perfect

it’s far from perfect

not that damian minds

she sends a not in rough english along with it:

“i am glad you are okay. stay safe”

it’s the first time he’s received a gift

he definitely doesn’t cry

not even a little bit

when marinette is 11 she becomes ladybug

her and her partner have no idea what they’re doing

but they would do anything to protect paris

yet another secret marinette has to keep

even from her soulmate

when she looses the bee miraculous she panics

she frantically sends a letter to her soulmate begging for it back and for them not to open it

she realizes then that she still doesn’t know their name

she shoves that thought to thee back of her mind

damian loses the strange box he found without opening it

he owes her that at least

when damian is 12 he loses titus

he looks for him everywhere

they had been at the park when he was snatched up by thugs

he tried to fight back but was immediately incapacitated with a stab to his neck with some kind of dart

by the time her woke up a few hours later he was already home

the thugs had tried to use him for ransom

batman, nightwing, red hood, and red robin had been on the scene not long after the ransom demand

damian might be a brat but he was family goddamn it

his brothers helped him search for titus for hours but they couldn’t find him

he was sitting depressed at the kitchen counter with a tea provided by forced by alfred when they heard it

a bark

damian immediately dropped his cup and rushed into the hallway where titus was standing and wagging his tail

he held a letter in his mouth

“alfred! titus is back!”

alfred rushed in from the kitchen and stood by the doorway

“it appears he is master damian”

he stepped closer and squinted at the dog

“what’s that around his neck?”

titus had a little red bow tied onto his collar

damian carefully took the letter from the dog’s mouth

the rest of his family had crowded intot the hallway as well

“open it brat. what does it say?”

“how did he get in here?”

damian read the letter

“it appears you’ve lost your dog. you must be very worried. i’m going to try and lose his again for you but first i’m going to give him some food and water and let him rest a little. he seemed very tired when he got here. i hope he finds his way back to you soon. - Marinette”

marinette still didn’t know her soulmate’s name

a few days later damian sent her a necklace with a robin pendant

it was definitely expensive. not the marinette needed to know that

he attached a short note:

“thank you.”

daminette soulmate au EXCEPT: they aren’t soulmates

 marinette’s never met her soulmate but she has Superman’s symbol engraved on the small of her back 

(having superhero’s symbols as a soulmark isn’t too uncommon. superhero fans’ soulmates might bare their mark if the hero is important enough to them so this wasn’t particularly suspicious or concerning to marinette) 

damian, on the other hand, has no soul mark

when he was old enough to realize what this meant he thanked all the gods he could think of — that was one burden that he would never have to carry 

(things never ended well for soulmates of league members. damian may have been a trained assassin (and a damn good one) but he wasn’t heartless)

now that he was older and out of his mothers clutches, his heart aches to think about his future

he has no desire for a romantic partner 

(most soulmates were romantic. you were more likely to not have a soulmate than to have a platonic partner. (though damian was convinced those numbers were off — he thought the reason there were more romantic pairs than platonic pairs was because some soulmate pairs only dated due to societal pressure and not because of a true romantic interest. love can be so confusing sometimes))

long story short: damian and marinette meet when marinette moves to gotham for college 

gotham is actually a great place for beginner designers to start out. the citizens absolutely love crazy and out-of-the-box fashion and will support just about any designer who’s not afraid to break the rules. and marinette loves breaking the rules

 they slowly start to fall in love 

*insert obligatory pining and heartache over falling in love with two people at the same time here

(marinette/ladybug (hawkmoth may be defeated but she’s still a hero, dammit and the JL asked for her help to patrol gotham while batman takes on a job out of town) and damian/robin) 

and of course, the obligatory identity reveal where marinette’s friends/the batfam promptly freak out because they’ve been listening to their friend/brother pine over two different people WHO ARE ACTUALLY THE SAME PERSON for literal MONTHS now when they could have just been dating already 

and of course (of course!) jon happens to be there and while the group is celebrating he gives damian and marinette a big celebratory hug (he just found out his best friend actually has a chance!! he’s excited okay) 

when marinette and jon’s bare skin touch for the first time they realize they’re soulmates 

(which honestly they should have realized sooner. jon’s soulmark is ladybug’s symbol. but they’re not that smart)

marinette and damian’s relationship gets rocky for a little bit 

while their friends and family know that they have mutual feelings for one another, they never actually got the chance to confess 

jon and marinette grow closer and eventually start to see each other as almost-siblings 

damian, blinded by his feelings, sees them growing closer and thinks that they have romantic feelings for one another and slowly starts to attempt to withdraw from their lives 

him being there was making things complicated. they were destined to be together. who was he to get in the way of that? 

of course jon and marinette are having none of this

damian is an important figure in both of their lives and they are NOT letting him go. no matter what. 

marinette eventually goes to confront him which leads to a very emotional conversation in damian’s room at the manor (he still lives there most of the time despite all of the times he’s threatened to move out, but if you bring it up he’ll legitimately throw a chair at you. ask jason. he’s found out the hard way a few too many times)

“Sometimes, I wish I had a soulmate,” he chuckles humorously, “I never used to think like that before I met you.”  Marinette shifts in her seat, “Damian-”  “I guess I didn’t really want a soulmate. I just wanted you.  I wish it was you.”  Marinette cups her hands around his cheeks, gently turning his head until she can gaze directly into his beautiful green eyes. She smiles softly, “Damian, you already have me.”

finally (finally), they get together (yayyyy!!) everyone celebrates!! a few years later damian and marinette get into a fight over who gets to have jon be their best man (marinette wins)

Marinette’s Hero

a short story told in bullet points:

during marinette’s senior year, her class is assigned to write an essay about their favorite hero 

most people write about ladybug or chat noir, some even write about rena rogue or carapace or queen bee

adrien writes about ladybug of course 

and nino about rena and alya about carapace

and chloe struggles to decide between queen bee or ladybug 

she chooses ladybug

but marinette struggles to pick a hero

she considers writing about chat noir

he’s been there since the beginning of their fight against hawkmoth

he’s helped her save countless civilians

without him, she would be dead ten times over

and the public never gives him enough credit

but how can she write about him without mentioning the other miraculous heros?

they’re just as important

she chose them because she believed in them, and they haven’t let her down since 

and what about non-traditional heroes?

her parents have supported her in everything she does

they’ve been there for both the bad days and the good

they help her with her problems no matter how small and they’ve never given up on her

and what about her teachers?

or master fu?

how could she choose just one hero when she was constantly surrounded by them?

she found a hero in the older man on the street corner who gave her directions when she was lost

she found a hero in the little girl who helped her pick up her dropped books after a long day and an even longer night full of akuma fighting

she found a hero in the young woman who told her her shoe was untied so that she wouldn’t trip

hawkmoth may target people on their worst days but paris combated this by looking out for each other, by helping each other stand up whenever they see someone fall over 

so she wrote about that

she wrote about the exceptional kindness she experienced on a daily basis

she wrote about how her classmates made sure she was eating enough and getting enough sleep 

she wrote about how her father would teach her a new cookie recipe on the weekends 

she wrote about how her mother would come home with a new fabric swatch once a month for marinette to experiment with 

she wrote about jagged stone giving her the opportunity of a lifetime when he showed up on her doorstep and asked her to design him a hat, jumpstarting her career 

she wrote about adrien and his desire to make people smile

she wrote about alya and her fierce determination

about nino’s ever-watchful protective eye

she wrote about chat’s ability to make ladybug laugh even when it felt like the world was ending

but most of all she wrote about the city

she wrote about the people that she didn’t even know the name’s of

she wrote about the people who saved her when she didn’t even know she needed saving

she didn’t get a very good grade on her essay, but that didn’t really matter to her

because ladybug belonged to Paris, and Paris was ladybug’s

this was her city

and no one could take that away from her

izuku buys sonic merch for iida whenever he stumbles across it. iida’s collection now comtains 7 ceramic mugs, three refrigerator magnets, 5 stickers, and 2 action figures. he has no idea who sonic is but he cherishes everything in his collection. tensei suggest throwing some of it away one day when they’re cleaning the house and iida throws a fit

adrien would try on cowboy boots one time and become obsessed. his father hates them but he doesn’t care. he just walks around in those loud ass stompers because they make him feel like he’s in a Western and he loves it. he wears them out as chat noir one time (plagg is a menace) and paris can’t decide if they love them or hate them. one day when adrien and his father get into a really big fight adrien donates all of his shoes except the cowboy boots. he wears them everyday. he owns three pairs and his collection is constantly growing. marinette makes him a pair covered in the most obnoxious sequins she could find as a joke for his birthday but they’re unironically his favorite pair
