The first meeting between Merlin and Arthur, after the former's escape from Camelot following his condemnation to the stake, takes place three years later, in the Dragon Keep. Merlin has naturally filled his role as leader, has found the last living dragons and has created a safe place for his people. When he returns from a mission to find Arthur waiting in the main hall of the Keep, the first thing he thinks is that an attack is underway. It does not matter that Arthur is comfortably seated in a chair and is talking to Gawain and the inhabitants of the Keep. Only one thought in his mind: to defend Aithusa and her family.

After Merlin's confession on being a sorcerer

Merlin: *terrified* why aren't you saying anything?

Arthur: you know that old woman who impersonated lady helen?

Merlin: *slowly* yeah?

Arthur: she was really old and scrumbly and stuff, right?

Merlin: .... Rrrrright?

Arthur: and she made herself good looking to trick my father-

Merlin: technically, she just assumed a familiar face.

Arthur: you're not doing that, are you?

Merlin: do what? Assume a familiar face?

Arthur: you're not making yourself look better than you are, do you? You're not like - tempting me like some kind of fae with their fae powers and seduction techniques! I won't be able to rip your face off and there is an ugly old man behind it, right?

Merlin: ... Arthur, do you think Ive been seducing you?

Arthur: *realizing* - actually, do please be an old and ugly man behind that face so this doesn't sound like I've had a crush on you for years?

Merkin: what?

Arthur: *stuttering* I GOTTA GO!!!!!! *RUNS*

Do you ever think about how when Arthur first met Merlin, Merlin was his only friend. (Like, if you don't count Morgana, and for the sake of the joke, let's pretend he wouldn't be going to her and she somehow didn't notice...)

So, if he'd wanted to rant about his crush on Merlin, he'd rant about it to Merlin.

Arthur: it's just- I've never had someone be this honest and direct with me without fearing consequences, you know?

Merlin, who'd figured it out the moment Arthur had waxed poetry about his eyes and hair: uhu. I think you should tell him. Who knows? He might like you back

Arthur: He would never :(

Merlin: look, honey, guys like that are always into rich blondes. I'm sure he's no exception

Arthur: he's an exception to everything!!! I mean, he's a peasant but he's also literate! And probably smarter than me. Why would someone this smart like someone as stupid as me

Merlin: *blank stare* stop acting like a dollophead.

Arthur: *on the verge of crying* that's what he calls me too!!!!

Arthur: Okay, so you're my servant now. It's not really that important of a position, just like, idk, make sure you bring me my breakfast on time

Merlin: I would die for you, I would kill for you, I'd give up my humanity and become a living weapon for you, I would sit by your grave for over a millennium, awaiting your return-

Arthur: but would you bring me breakfast on time?

Merlin: Well that's asking a bit much, don't you think?

After Merlin's magic is revealed he's made the court sorcerer and as such has to sit in on court meetings. He freely gives his opinion on topics that come up and is more than willing to shoot down propositions others make while pointing out all the flaws in their plans. The nobles do not like this. Nobleman: Your promotion has clearly caused you to think far too highly of yourself that you dare speak in such a manner to those born above you Arthur: No he came like that. His disregard for authority is one of the reasons I keep him around. Keeps me, and now you all, honest. Merlin: That, and Arthur thinks it's hot.

You know what baffles me? Why did we never get a time-loop episode of Merlin? Like someone curses Camelot to be trapped in the same day and Merlin is the only one to retain memories between resets. It would be hilarious to see Merlin just go feral and use magic with wild abandon in the open cause no one will remember anyway. I wanna see him do the bit where he needs to convince Gauis that they are in a time-loop by telling him all the weird and improbable thing that will happen as they are happening. Like it would also be the perfect way to get in multiple "magic reveals" ™. Arthur could sometimes take it well or sometimes even react poorly with the promise of deciding Merlin's fate the next morning but that morning never comes so we never get a for sure answer about how he feels which is why Merlin still doesn't do a reveal post time-loop escape. Like the comedy and drama potential we missed out on man...

It’s a biological fact that fish do indeed change their sex to keep the male/female ratio balanced in their school population. So this fluidity actually makes more sense from a scientific standpoint than the silly idea that merfolk are born with a strictly assigned sex like humans.

Lee and Gaara are having a cute date at a restaurant. Both of them are a bit shy around each other, as they try to move past the past. Lee bought Gaara flowers, because of course everyone got involved with helping him decide what gift to buy, and Ino spoke loudest. Gaara takes them and thanks him, confused about how he’s supposed to keep them alive in the desert, but genuinely touched.

Gai is in the background wearing a fake moustache, glasses, hat and a trenchcoat, studying them intensely over the menu.

My favorite Merlin head cannon is that Arthur knew Merlin had a secret that they didn't talk about because it would get him in trouble with the law

but he always just assumed the secret was Merlin that preferred men.

Merlin, when cedric threatened his position as Arthur's manservant: *feral cat*

Meanwhile Merlin with women (in front of Arthur):

A: Merlin, around Gwen: she's my best friend, we're making swords together and gossip about who's hotter, Arthur or Lancelot.

B: he thought Merlin was spying on (troll) catrina undressing. However, Merlin also called her disgusting and Arthur later learned that she had been a troll and Merlin had not actually Creeped on her.

C: he thought Merlin had a crush on Morgana. (The flower scene). But Morgana rejected him and Merlin recovered... Very quickly?

D: servants of two masters: merlin is jealous that Gwen may want to "pour his (arthurs) bathwater next"

Arthur: somehow, all Merlin's male friends are hot, he isn't half as excited about women or his female friends, flirts with me all the time and is jealous af when I try to replace him.... Also:
