Season 2 update

Hi guys!

It's been... a while. TDD currently only has two episodes of season two out, and that's the way it's going to stay for probably a long time.

I love podcasting with my whole heart, and making this show has brought me a lot of joy, but I'm stepping back from it and all other podcasting-related endeavors for the foreseeable future. This is what's best for my life and mental health at the moment, and though I'd love to come back to this show some time in the future, I can't guarantee when that might be. For that reason, I'm going to say The Dreamwalker's Diary is on "indefinite hiatus".

However, I would feel horrible if someone who was invested was left with only part of the story, so I am sharing the whole season two script with anyone who'd like to read it.

I'm obsessed with making a perfect show. Something I'm completely incapable of. A friend addressed this with me. They said, "What would it look like if you stopped shooting for perfect, and began aiming for meaningful?" And I've thought about it a lot, and one thing that came to mind this morning was this. Perfection is something I can never achieve, but meaning, even a small amount, is something I can achieve easily. And unlike perfection, which you cannot surpass, there's no end to the amount of meaning I can bring to my art. That's been so helpful

Khôra Podcast: (Sci-Fi, Adventure) Somewhere between inspired by and adapted from greek mythology, a space adventure following four mythological figures on their search for the golden fleece.

Less is Morgue: (Comedy, Horror elements) A ghoul and a ghost host a podcast about whatever they please in the ghoul's mom's basement, and manage to get off topic anyway.

The Starport Inn: (Supernatural, Mystery) An FBI agent sent to a rural town to solve a disappearance finds they've walked into something much stranger.

The Supernatural Protection Agency: (Supernatural) Call logs for a helpline that aims to solve the supernatural problems plaguing your life.

Tell No Tales: (Supernatural, Horror elements) Leo Quinn, secretary to the man in charge of the world's leading ghost removal service, interviews various ghosts in an attempt to create a device capable of actually recording them, in the hopes of taking down the company they work for.

Super Suits has a non-binary lead. Mx. Hallo is an intern at a law firm that works for super heroes in a city filled with them and where being a super hero is a common job. It’s a workplace comedy, about 11 episodes so far, but they’re currently on hiatus.

It's a great time to support these creators and get into those smaller titles you may have considered before. Especially because many of these works are Hollywood level in quality but with 5% of the budget and attention, and deserve way more love.

People make jokes about poorly made podcasts and how common it is now for people to try and make one but honestly I love a medium that any one can try. I love badly recorded audio. I love using a comforter or a closet as a sound booth. I love getting your friends together to make a low budget project. I love people being able to include more representation without having to go through the intensive process it might take to get characters and scenes approved in other mediums.

yes!!! podcasts are one of the easiest ways to break into the creative industry, even if it doesn’t go anywhere! I have a mic, some acting friends, audacity, and some time, and I’m making a podcast!! all my characters are queer, so what? most of my characters have mental illness, what are you gonna do about it?? it’s mine!! it’s really fun and really cool, I would recommend, even if you have no idea what you’re doing!!!

Also, and this is very important:

Poorly made projects will ALWAYS be better than projects you never make because you're obsessed with its quality.

Because you MADE something. And that makes you a CREATOR.

And maybe it's not as poorly made as you think. Maybe you need other people to see or hear it. Maybe you've done something a LOT of people will love and you can keep making it until it's better.

Or maybe you can make the bad audio a feature and call it "vintage" or "analog" or make it part of the conceit of your show. That's what we did ;)
