A Fated Dagger - Sneak Peek
Donovan
"Okay it should be over here!" Lilith shouts at me from the river's edge—searching for the GeoCache I placed near here. I am safely on the sidewalk, glancing left and right, making sure there is no one approaching on the path. "Maybe a little closer to the water?" I grumble towards her trying to keep back the chuckle forming in my throat. She is not even close. "Well the app says it is right here…somewhere…" I told her to wear her glasses tonight, but of course we cannot mess up the hair, and the makeup, and the outfit she spent hours on. It wouldn't go with a pair of prescription vision, my blind little bat.
She does look fucking delicious, I'll admit. The dress hugs her curves so well, and I want to take a bite out of her ass.
"Check that pile of rocks!" I shout out. We have to get to the restaurant soon, let me help out.
She grabs a few rocks off the pile, inspecting them closely before tossing them aside. I start walking towards her. She crouches lower giving me view of her perfect ass peeking out of the bottom of her gown. I get down on bended knee just as she grabs the box I had hidden.
She whips around to face me, and I can't make out her thoughts, but her face changed immediately. "Donovan…"
"Lilith, I need you to not talk for 60 seconds."
She opens her mouth up in protest and I grab the dagger from my pocket. The one I had engraved with the stars and the moon from the day we met. "If you talk, you don't get this dagger."
She claps her hands over her mouth and starts nodding aggressively. Gotcha!
"Lilith, you set my soul on fire; I would set the world on fire if it meant you were never cold again. I will do anything for you from this moment on. You are the light of my life. We have talked so much about the future, and my little bat I just need one thing from you, and we can begin that future tonight, okay?"
Her eyes begin welling with tears and she nods her head again, slowly. I take the box from her hand and open it up to show her the coffin shaped onyx ring with embedded white sapphires I picked for her. The tears are streaming down her cheeks and I can't help but smile. "You can tal-" She leaps into my arms knocking us both over while jamming her lips against my own. She places gentle kisses all over my face until they turn into gentle bites down my neck. I clench her hair tight in my fist and force her face upwards to make her meet my gaze. "Is that a yes?" "Yes!" she says, breathless and giggling.
Lilith
Walking down the sidewalk, hand in hand, I am over the moon. It feels like a ring was always supposed to be on my finger.
Thunder roars above us. There wasn't supposed to be a storm tonight. I hold Donovan's hand tight and glue myself to his side. Dark and rain and these heels do not mix. The drops begin to fall despite my pleading to the sky. We duck under a gazebo off the pathway in the park just in time for it to start pouring.
"I don't want your dress to get soaked before dinner; we don't want you freezing at the restaurant. Let's wait it out under here, love." Donovan says. He's right.
I sit down on one of the hard benches and smooth my dress in my lap. Beads of sweat beginning to fall down my décolletage. I purse my lips. "Mrs. Lilith Alexander has a ring to it you know?" I say. "Oh so you are taking my last name?" he jokes.
Donovan sits beside me, taking my tethered hand in his and kisses me on the lips, needily. I part his lips with the tip of my tongue and envade his mouth, swilring around in a dance with his own.
He is kissing my neck, cupping my breasts, and kissing down my chest. Pulling my top down and exposing myself to him; he takes my right breast in his mouth, twilring and twisting and tugging on my right nipple—the pierced one. He bites down, biting, sucking and leaving bruises all the way up to my throat. He bites down on my neck loud enough for me to scream. "Donovan! What the fuckkkkkkkkk????"
Before my eyes I cannot explain what is playing out. Donovan is kissing another person. Another man.
A dark, overpowering creature towers above me. I tear rolls down my cheek. As above, so below—I pray to my Gods before the night takes me.
