Just finished my audiobook listen-through of The Burn Line
Very fun, very spooky, and also structurally quite different from Jonnyās other books, which is great - I felt like I was being led through a very different kind of narrative.
Thereās absolutely nothing wrong with authors doing the same sort of story if thatās what theyāre good at, but I can never quite predict where Jonnyās going to go or what the final outcome is going to be. A mystery reveal happens half way through and I was surprised because I thought that was where the story was leading - no! Still have 6 hours of reading to go!
thereās a few real laugh out loud moments (I cackled at the end of chapter 22), as well as some visceral recoiling moments, and I am going to take my sweet time reading my hard copy.
As always the voice actors are on top form - at one point three separate accents are performed by the same person and itās so natural that I thought it was 3 separate people!
thoroughly recommend this book, itās a hot dark twisty journey - much like the London Underground!
