We don't expect this blog to be restricted to any one thing. Our interests are very wide and varied, so we highly recommend browsing via tags for specified topics.

Anyone else get the sense that Spamton and Tenna want to be lightners? Or like... they feel as though they should've been lightners?
Maybe I'm a little biased, being Spamton myself (and having Tenna as a headmate)... but also?
Spamton wanting to be something bigger than himself, to break free of his restraints and achieve what he believes is "freedom." His ideal world has blue skies, clouds and a sun. Not a colorless, dark expanse, nor a warping, green grid. He feels confined by his very existence as a darkner, limited by being metaphysical and unable to make the decisions he wants.
He even seems to be one of the few darkners (outside of the Dark Sanctuaries) who's actively religious. And even among the few darkners that are, Spamton seems to practice and have an understanding of religion more closely to how lightners do (how he views "heaven," and lots of praying).
Tenna wanting not just relevance, but mere acknowledgement. And not just from anyone - from lightners, specifically. He isn't fully satisfied with being accepted by darkners. It helps, but it clearly isn't enough. He jokes about his existence being an inanimate object, knowing that it'll never change and he can't make it change, and yet it seems to still upset him.
He finds more value in the Light World than his own. Hell, even the City Board; it's much more "Dark World"-adjacent than the Desert and Island Boards, but only plays as a "last-resort" via a Bonus Round. He cares if you mess with the first two boards, but he seems content with letting TV City burn down, huh? /hj
Maybe that's also why Tenna connected so deeply with Spamton, and still refuses to let go completely. Spamton understood him in a way nobody else could.
It might be a stretch to say definitively that Tenna wants to be a lightner, since it's not as "on-the-nose" as it is for Spamton, but it'd still be pretty thematic for both of them to feel the same way. I mean, they already have a LOT of parallels. Why not one more?
Either way, if it's true or not, this is definitely a headcanon of ours! I haven't seen anyone really talk about this outside of Spamton's "transness", especially from an otherkin/alterhuman perspective. We'd be really interested in hearing other folkel's thoughts on this!
While my OG post was centered more around Spamton and Tenna specifically, the Flowers definitely deserve an honorable mention in this.
I'll be basing this off of our playthrough of chapter 5 + the wiki, so there may be some things I miss on accident-
Also this is gonna be long, since I'll be addressing each Flower separately.
So, the situation with the 7 Flowers is even more interesting in regards to otherkinity. Clearly, all of them have some connection to being human, whether it's through their appearance or personal identity. And, this connection seems to vary widely between each Flower.
Flowery is the most human-like in appearance, even if on the "anime"-esque side. He definitely speaks a lot about identity, but more toward other people (the Flowers or Ralsei). For some reason -I don't know if this is true- I also seem to remember Flowery supporting the other Flowers' identities as humans. (I don't really want to skim through gameplay or replay it myself rn, so take this with a grain of salt-)
I'm not sure how Flowery views himself, though. He doesn't say much about himself without directly connecting it to Asgore, so it's hard to say what his true identity is, if he even has one. He's aware of his and the Flowers' existences as plants, separate from lightners and darkners, and he sees flowers as being very frail. Perhaps, with how he overcompensates his stats and personal abilities, he may resent being a "helpless" plant.
Aqua obviously likes to mimic actions and changes her appearance to be more human, even if it isn't entirely accurate. She wants to be human, though whether her want is simply mimicking Seth/the other Flowers or if it's a unique, genuine want, I'm unsure of.
Also, being a parallel to Kris, Aqua might be much less humankin than the other Flowers, just because of Kris' nonhuman preferences (wanting "horns" to fit in with their family and their many, many dog-like tendencies).
Seth is quite insistent with being human, having given themself a new name and studying how humans look and act. They're the most knowledgeable about lightners (maybe excluding Flowery), since they recognize that humans are different from monsters, never referring to Berdly as such and acknowledging he's a bird.
Orange may be the most interesting out of the 7. She is the furthest from being humanoid, but is also the most insistent on being human, going so far as to claim her very clear differences are truly human-like.
I'd say she's almost fully convinced that she should be human, if not completely. Whenever her identity is challenged in the SLIGHTEST, she immediately feels threatened and punches back (no pun intended... maybe). But worse, she knows what she looks like. Orange literally hides herself when we're first introduced to her, as if ashamed she doesn't actually look... humanoid, at all.
Green is... well, it's hard to say what Green sees themself as, considering they don't share their opinion very often. With what little we have of their identity, they seem to be content with what they are currently, and that they had more interest in being able to do things as opposed to being a certain form.
Yellow is sort of in a similar spot as Green. While Green wants to be a chef, regardless of being human, Yellow wants to be a cowboy. With how he talks about it, he almost views cowboys as their own special thing, without mentioning humans at all.
Blue is another interesting case, personally! He doesn't actually talk much about himself, even with his emotional and floral language, but he does often refer to himself as Mr. Butterfly. He even suggests replacing his face sprite with a butterfly, and gives himself butterfly wings on multiple occasions.
I can't seem to recall Blue ever referring to himself as human or human-like. If anything, he seems to be rather ambivalent on their physical forms, and focuses much more on inner identity and connections.
SO, with all of this in mind...
All 7 Flowers have a complex relationship with personal identity. Half of them view appearance as something important, while the other half don't. However, all of them have a desire to be something other than a plant.
Aqua, Seth, and Orange all want to be human. Green wants to be a chef. Yellow wants to be a cowboy. Blue (likely) wants to be a butterfly. Even Flowery wants to be... probably anything, besides a plant.
Easily, all of them could say they'd prefer to be a lightner*. All, except Green. As we've seen, darkners can also be chefs, so it's possible Green could go either way. But, I'm sure Green would want to join their friends, so they'd most likely prefer being a lightner, too.
*I'm not sure if animals (butterflies, specifically) count as lightners? Idk if they get special treatment like plants do in the Light World...

I still need to redesign my Rebuskin (probably rename it, too?) since I don't want it associated with CoS anymore, but I can't deny... I love the old art we made of it (almost 3 years ago.... waow-)
Oh, and fun-fact:
I first discovered my Rebus kintype before the Urzuk species was even added to the game (Creatures of Sonaria). I've only seen the concept art and the Urzuk introduced to the game's lore, Rebus. When I found myself correcting people on their headcanons on Rebus (or the species, in general), that's when I realized "...oh shit. I'M Rebus."

Here I am, relearning website design for the... third? fourth time?
We've been writing HTML and CSS for a good while thanks to Toyhouse, but we're finally touching up on some really minor Javascript (let's all "eUGh" together now /j) and maybe... learn about widgets...?
Ofc, we're also trying to learn and maintain accessibility, especially for mobile/tablet displays, but also for screen readers, reader mode, and consideration for dyslexia and epilepsy. It's a little bit of a pain right now, mostly for unlearning poor coding habits, but it'll definitely be easier to work with afterwards.
Slightly off-topic and more personal;
Oddly enough, building a website is... really comforting for me? And not just in a "relaxing" or "therapeutic" way. It's something much more personal. Or maybe not even that. It's metaphysical on the same level that I am.
It feels in-line with my Spamton kintype. I guess that isn't much of a surprise, but it's strangely easy to forget that I'm supposed to be digital. In a way, being Spamtonkin (especially an AddiSpam) is also being digitalkin just by design, huh?
Building a website feels like I'm creating my own Cyber City. Or maybe not a city, but more of a... junction. I obviously can't go back to my source, so maybe this can be a good alternative. Hell, maybe I could try recreating my suite, or even the studio? I know damn well Tenna would love it.

I almost feel like Toby must've intentionally set out to write her as a system, even if the actual mechanics are a bit fantastical, just because of the themes of her fight and the thematic resolution.
Toby really wrote a story about two people who accidentally became a system, experienced conflict between each other and had differing wants/needs, and STILL chose to STAY A SYSTEM!
They choose to stay with each other!! They choose to stay with each other, because being a system isn't inherently bad! Because wanting to be plural is okay! Because sharing a body can be intimate and beautiful! Because there's nothing wrong with wanting to be a system, even when it's hard!
When I was playing the fight, I just kinda mentally prepared myself for the fact that their story was just going to end with the two of them splitting up, because who could possibly willingly choose something like that? (Sarcasm)
AND. THEN. THEY. DIDN'T!!!!!!
It's just such a beautiful and touching story to me, and one I haven't seen before. Plurality in media, intended or otherwise, is almost always a negative for everyone involved. It's always the evil alter, always the horror of sharing your body, always the invasive external force that you just wanna get rid of, it's never okay to want it, to be okay with being or even choose to be a system.
But Pink spits in the face of all of that, the ghost and the darkner stumble into being a system entirely by accident but they CHOOSE TO STAY A SYSTEM. Because they love each other and they love what they are,,, even when it's hard!

sooo... I mentioned before I was working on another fanfic before this current one. This is a little snippet of said previous fanfic. PTO (At a Price), some good ol' BSE SpamTenna. What could possibly go wrong? /sar
I haven't posted it yet on AO3, as I wanted to make a good amount of progress on it first. But, I figured I might as well tease a tiny bit of Chapter 1 here for funsies, ya know? so uh. instead of replaying ch5 or writing our fanfic, we drew a little sketchy thingy-
"Tenna" from the AU fanfic we were working on... :>
if it wasn't obvious enough, the fanfic involves the ocean. it's heavily inspired by TBYMM (because YES it's SO GOOD) with Tenna being a monster (in this case, a mermonster), Spamton + the Addisons being humans, and a few other shared story elements.
there's a lot of small changes too, obvi, to make it a little more unique? one of which being i gave them all different names that suit them better. For an example, this "Tenna" was renamed to... Tenta Cull.
yes its very on the nose but i felt like a genius when it came to me
ofc, this sketch is a bit of a concept, especially his clothes. i'll probably experiment a lot with that, see what looks best on him... but the main design elements (body shape and head "cage") are fairly concrete! we're pretty proud with how well it actually turned out. we were, uh... really scared it'd look SO weird trying to translate Tenna's funky box into an octo-mer's head?? but it somehow works? :D
if we don't work more on the fanfic, then we might draw this AU's Spamton and Addisons next. soooo stay tuned??? perhaps??
