I finished the last part of the galloper quest yesterday and boy, oh boy, do I have opinions
first the positive:
I liked the mechanic of the quest. reliving his memory as him, seeing our horse flee from us because it's getting mad from the runestones being broken. and jon jarl disappearing before we can reach him. showing gunnars wish to reach him and to make him happy, but Jon always keeping his distance
Now the things that were..."unfortunate":
the whole time they force the narrative, that Gunnar war just as much to blame as everyone else in this scenario.Blaming a man, that was blinded by his loyalty and brainwashed by his leader, a soldier, that was thaught to follow orders.
"well he didn't have to follow the orders" Bitch! we all know jon jarl was a fucking lunatic, hungry for power and control, I am pretty damn sure that he had no problem with killing those who did not follow orders! meanwhile the fact, that it was jon who gave these orders to undermine the keepers of aideen, is ignored because he converted to the "right faith" in the end (i don't need to explain why that is problematic in it self)
Every time we want to criticize one of the druids, we have to blame gunnar aswell. the other options flat out ignore the horrible things the jarl and the druids did and Just force Gunnar to forgive. this whole quest is full of entitled druids who see no wrong in their own doing, and Linda who believes her damn history books of "jon jarl is the best" (cause we all know "history is written by the winners of a fight")
we have victim blaming, forgiving all wrong because of converting to the "right faith" , forcing a victim to forgive their abuser and forcing them to forget all the horrible things done to them in order to "move on"
What the actual fuck went wrong SSE?
no really, who thought, that that is a good message to give to little girls?!
