As a polyfrag system, though I'm sure any system with a high headcount can understand, seeing most DID rep showing those with a smaller headcount feels rather isolating.
We can't system map like others, we can't possibly afford to cater to each alter's preferences physically, we struggle to make sense of our identity more often than not and the whole "just use xyz organizing tool!" takes significantly more time as well. A lot of system spaces just feel like they weren't built with us in mind.
"you have that many alters?! Wow I can barely keep up with 6!" Like, wow yay I'm so glad, I can't keep having the same conversation over and over. With things like polyfragmentation being under researched in an already under researched disorder, it feels like putting pieces into an incomplete puzzle. Your box didn't even have all the pieces to begin with.
We've had different hosts try to "eliminate" other alters by simply not keeping track of them, trying to not advocate for them, etc. we've tried to lessen our parts before. It's impossible though, you can't remove alters, you only end up hurting a real part. It's harmful, but the desire to become more "normal" is crazy intense.
So please, if you know a system who's polyfragmented or even those who have a higher headcount in general, be nice to them. It's hard enough out here as is.

I miss the customizable features on a lot of older web platforms. Everything felt so colorful and lively, self expression was easily accessible. Now it's turned significantly more bland feeling. The most customizable you can get on platforms is like a pfp and banner.

it’s never a normal temperature anymore it’s always some fucking bullshit
I hate how when your brain learns it can dissociate through bad stuff it never stops. Like why are my symptoms getting worse and worse just from being sleepy. Dissociation is like that "cats when the activity requires zero cats" meme.
the issue with growing up in the 2000s and 2010s was like there was this really big push toward "accepting your weirdness" overall but they meant like idk wearing mismatched socks or something not being tangibly beyond the norm in any way shape or form

You really start to understand that the “angry black woman” and “mean lesbian” stereotype only exists to shame us for the fact we get reasonably upset about people wanting to horrifically abuse us indiscriminately. Let’s get meaner !
WE HAVE GOT TO START LOVING THE PROCESS MORE THAN THE PRODUCT AGAIN
We're watching Moon Knight for the first time since we kept hearing about it's DID rep and wanted to take a look at it ourselves. We're only about halfway through so far (please avoid spoiling the rest for us) and I wanted to provide our thoughts. This has very minor spoilers so if you're worried about that don't click below the cut.
Do I think it represents every experience of DID? No. Does it absolutely play into some of the stereotypes at times? Yes. It is for sure a fantastical version of DID, I mean it's a super hero show. But am I also pleasantly surprised about some of the representation (marc and Steven viewing each other as parasites, the concern in finding things that aren't yours and losing memories)? 100%
When we first started watching I remember the feeling of "Wow, there's a super hero with my disorder." and that was really nice. While I wouldn't necessarily consider myself (or anyone in our system) super into marvel, I grew up watching the movies and still enjoy them from time to time. It was truly beautiful to feel that.
I know it's the bare minimum for rep, but this was babies first DID media experience that doesn't automatically demonize the disorder. Does it show it being unpleasant and annoying? Yes, but DID often is.
I also loved the comparison in showing how Steven gets in the way of Marc and vice versa. It does an excellent job showing the viewer how each of them experiences the other. You as a viewer (without DID) can see marc interrupting Steven and go "Wow that'd be really fucking annoying, I'd hate not being able to just live my life like that." And conversely see Steven doing that to Marc and go "Can't you see he's trying to stop something terrible from happening?!"
I didn't really enjoy the fact that it's made out like with DID you can force an alter out by pure will. I also didn't enjoy the portrayals of switching, the actor would often act as if they were being possessed instead of just dissociating. That could've been written to be like that or it could've been chosen by the actor, I'm not jumping to blame him is all.
All in all though, it's truly been an enjoyable watching experience. I love parts and hate parts but I think it's worth the watch if it's up your alley.
TW/CW : Talk of pedophilic beauty standards, beauty standards in general, colorism, racism
Idrk anything about stellar blade, but the stuff going on about the main chr looking like a child has really emphasized how pedophilic beauty standards are.
Yes, I was already aware of the fact, but this really made me understand how extensive it is. The small nose with no hook, puffy round lips, wide eyes, soft features, a small and thin body, and smooth hairless skin are all things I've had shoved in my face for the "ideal" or "epitome" of beauty. Not even mentioning the racism and colorism from things like the pale/almost paper white skin or the perfect straight non "frizzy" hair standards.
I've heard some people say "it's fine if she's conventionally attractive as a woman, but she doesn't even look like a woman." But that's literally the point. Like that's what being considered conventionally attractive is in our world right now, looking like a fucking baby.
Communication can be very difficult at times and I kind of wish we had a feature where I could like alien transmit ideas or thoughts to other people's brains
