Hello! I wondered if you could recommend any light-hearted, easy viewing Kdramas, along the lines of Secretary Kim/WFKBJ/Suspicious Partner? I really want to watch The Smile Has Left Your Eyes and finish Lawless Lawyer but they are a bit too on the drama side for me right now (if that makes sense!). Thank you :)
I love a little fun K-drama trash as much as the next girl, and we all need a break sometimes from the heavy feels. Below are quality K-dramas that are easy-viewing and tend to be on the funnier side.
Light-hearted Easy-viewing K-Dramas
Shopping King LouieRidiculously fun and lighthearted romp following a spoiled and useless chaebol with amnesia who is being taken care of by a country bumpkin in the city. Very low stakes, super adorable couple, and as many tropes as you can fit in your bag, this one is one of my favorites to recommend.
Eulachacha Waikiki / Laughter In WaikikiI hope you’re ready for a crazy amount of unlikely situations and nutty hijinks because this show is probably one the most silly ones I’ve ever watched. It follows a group of friends who own a hostel so it’s a slice of life drama. At certain points I was like “this is TOO silly” but I’m glad I stuck with it cause it was so hilarious. Plus, the baby is a star!
Fight for My WayI hesitate to put this one in because there IS a little emotional drama and I’m trying not to post things with any heaviness, but the couple is one of my OTPs and it’s really funny and a mostly lighthearted story of a group of friends. It’s down to earth and adorable - I’ve never had anyone complain about this one!
The Best HitA famous 90′s boyband dude travels into the future and meets up with his family and friends in this really cute drama featuring Yoon Shi Yoon. I LOVE Yoon Shi Yoon in pretty much everything but this role was made for him - he is hilarious. It’s a slice of life but features the k-pop music industry so the setting is unique.
Oh My GhostessA shy withdrawn girl working at a restaurant possessed by a sassy ghost. Do I need to go on? There is a little bit of sad but for the most part it’s super fun.
Oh My VenusPeople who know me know that i’m not “into” the message of this drama because it’s about weight issues, but I will admit that the couple has amazing chemistry and overall it’s a super fun show, loved by pretty much everyone else.
Terius Behind MeFBI agent goes under disguise as a babysitter! While there are some intense parts of this drama because it’s a crime thriller, the characters are super funny and all work perfectly together to create a comedic element. Honestly this show was almost perfect for me, and I’m very picky.
The PackageI loved this slice of life about a tour guide leading a Korean travel group through France. It does deal with real issues but is a very quiet and light-hearted show overall.
Wok of LoveDespite the fact that the show was shortened by two episodes because of sports, this drama is a funny and quirky show worth watching. Many people dropped it because it was SO crazy for the first couple of episodes (it has a talking horse people!), but it does settle into a really sweet and fun story about a chef, a gangster and a rich girl and her family. If you love food, this show is for YOU!
Weightlifting FairyA K-drama fandom favorite! Adorable college romance about a female weightlifter and a super hot swimmer dude. I mean she’s hot too. Anyways, two cuties!
Why Secretary KimThe asker mentioned this one but just so everyone knows, I was prepared to hate this premise: Boss in love with secretary. YUCK. BUT they turned all of the tropes on their heads and this show was a joy to watch!
Let’s Eat 1,2,3 (?)I can’t with authority claim that these are 100% lighthearted so maybe someone will weigh in? I have started and dropped a few of these (they are cute for sure - I just liked other things more at the time) but they seemed like really easy watches and the food part was fun.
